Since its launch, fans of Elden Ring have been eagerly anticipating the release of new updates. The game has garnered a dedicated fan base thanks to its challenging gameplay, beautiful world, and deep lore, and players have been eagerly waiting for new content and challenges to be added to the game.

In this article, we will cover the exciting new features added to the game with the latest patch 1.08. This update includes the highly anticipated Colosseum, where players can test their skills against other challenging opponents in PvP mode. In addition to the new Colosseum, this patch also includes balancing changes, bug fixes, and some new hairstyles for players to try out. So let's start with the Colosseum part.

Colosseums

Elden Ring's massive three Colosseums offer players exciting new ways to engage in multiplayer combat and test their skills against other opponents. Located in Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid, each Colosseum features unique rules and challenges for players to face.

If you want to be the main man in any Colosseum, you can easily upgrade your character with runes in Elden Ring.

Limgrave Colosseum

Limgrave Colosseum offers two different PvP modes: United Combat and Combat Ordeal.

United Combat

In United Combat, players are divided into teams and must fight for victory in intense, action-packed battles. With respawns active, players can expect fast-paced, high-stakes combat as they fight to earn the most points for their team.

Every time an opponent falls and respawns, their opponents are awarded points, so there is no time to rest in this adrenaline-fueled game mode. Only the team with the most points at the end of the time limit will emerge victorious. Are you ready to take on the challenge of United Combat in Elden Ring's Colosseums? If you are not sure, you can easily prepare yourself with some Elden Ring items.

Combat Ordeal

In Combat Ordeal, players must fight for survival in a fast-paced, all-out battle for dominance. This free-for-all mode pits players against each other in a fierce fight for points, with no rules or alliances to hold them back. With no teams to rely on, players must use all of their skills to outmaneuver their opponents and claim victory.

Here you can find some great Elden Ring free-for-all tips, that will definitely help you in this mode.

Leyndell Royal Colosseum

In the Royal Colosseum of Leyndell, players can engage in intense one-on-one battles in the new Duel Mode. The Royal Colosseum of Leyndell is known for its amazing look, and the addition of Duel Mode adds another exciting element to the already thrilling vibe of the Colosseum.

Duel Mode

Every move counts in this mode, as there are no respawns. To triumph in the Royal Colosseum's Duel Mode, players must use all of their skills and unique builds to outsmart their opponents. Every move counts in these intense one-on-one battles, so you must be at the top of your game to have a chance.

Caelid Colosseum

In the Caelid Colosseum, players can enjoy all of the exciting multiplayer modes found in the other Colosseums, including United Combat, Combat Ordeal, and Duel Mode.

However, the Caelid Colosseum also offers a unique twist that adds an extra layer of strategy to battles. In this Colosseum, players are able to use Elden Ring's powerful Spirit Ashes in combat, giving them a powerful advantage over their opponents. With the added element of Spirit Ashes, the Caelid Colosseum offers players a truly unique multiplayer experience.

With their unique rules and challenges, all three Colosseums offer players thrilling new multiplayer experiences. Whether you prefer to work together with a team or go it alone, there is something for everyone in these arena battles.

New Balance Adjustments (PvP Only)

The latest update for Elden Ring includes several changes to the game's combat mechanics. The thrusting weapons' counterattack damage has been reduced, as has the guard efficiency of certain weapon types when attacking with a shield up.

The poise damage of various weapons, including straight swords, curved swords, thrusting swords, spears, katanas, axes, and twin-blade swords, has also been reduced.

Additionally, the poise damage of the Incantation Bestial Sling has been reduced, and the power of the Spell Carian Slicer has been reduced. These changes are intended to balance the game's combat and make it more fair and enjoyable for players.

New Hairstyles

With the last update, players can now express themselves even more by customizing their character's hairstyles with a wider range of options for short, medium, and long lengths. But despite this added variety, there is still a lack of diversity in the available hairstyles, with a noticeable absence of styles influenced by different cultures and the fact that there are only five new hairstyles.

It would be nice to see the game developers add more diverse hairstyles in future updates, so players can make their characters unique and reflect the game's community. Here are some of them.

The game's new hairstyles are available during character creation, so you can give your character a unique look from the start. But even if you've already got a character you're happy with, you can change up their look by using the vanity mirror at the Roundtable Hold or speaking with Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.

New Improvements/Balance Adjustments

Elden Ring players will be thrilled to hear about the significant updates to the game's PvE mode! A range of weapons have received improvements to their speed, distance, and recovery time, allowing players to unleash even more powerful attacks on their enemies. These updates are general balance adjustments that will enhance the overall gameplay experience.

Let's take a closer look at some of these changes and how they will impact the gameplay.

The speed of some attacks and the recovery time for daggers, axes, hammers, and dual-wielded flails have been increased. Now you can make your amazing Elden Ring Build even stronger.

The speed of some attacks and the recovery time for two-handed twin blades, reapers, fists, and claws have also been increased.

In addition, the speed of crouching and rolling attacks for Colossal Swords has been slightly increased.

Other changes include increased stagger damage for guard counters with axes, increased poise when attacking with two-handed hammers, and increased poise damage for claws. The weapon arts for these weapons remain unchanged.

Additional Bug Fixes

Also, the update includes bug fixes, which is always a welcome addition. Ensuring that players have a smooth and enjoyable experience is crucial for game developers, and fixing bugs in new updates is an important part of that.

From minor bugs to major game-breaking issues, bugs can significantly impact a player's experience. By fixing these bugs, developers can prevent potential issues from arising and help players continue to enjoy the game without interruption.

Here are some major issues that have been fixed in this update:

Consumable items will now correctly be refilled when teleporting to a Grace from the map.

Stamina will no longer replenish when switching to a crouching position while running.

Spells, Incantations, and item input actions will now be correctly recognized while guarding against attacks.

The physical attack values of some attacks of the Serpent-Hunter weapon have been corrected.

The follow-up attack will now correctly occur when the Black Sword Incantation is activated with a Sacred Seal in the left hand.

Multiple instances of damage will no longer occur when certain Spells and Incantations are cast while jumping.

Weapon Arts will now be used correctly with specific combinations of weapons and Weapon Arts.

This update may not have the story-based Elden Ring DLC that you've been waiting for, but don't let that stop you from jumping in and enjoying everything it offers, from new weapon adjustments to improved gameplay mechanics.

Summary

In my opinion, this update is great because it addresses the issue of balance in the game. If you are a PvP player, you know that balancing has been a huge issue in this game. Unlike in the Dark Souls games, there are many more factors to consider when trying to balance the game.

This means that you never know what you're going to face in a match, and if you're not prepared, you can easily be defeated. In this game, it's all about outsmarting your opponent.

For example, a strong build can be easily countered by the right strategy. It's a thrilling challenge to try and anticipate what your opponent will do and come up with the perfect counter. All in all, this update is a step in the right direction for improving the PvP experience.
