Elden Ring Guide: The Most Powerful Staffs and How to Get Them

By Bosbone Mon Nov 07 2022 16:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

As we all know, there are a few distinct approaches and strategies to fight in Elden Ring. Finding the best staff to use is crucial for players who are using spells to defeat their opponents. So choosing the right one can be tricky because it all depends on where you are in Elden Ring and what type of magic you want to use.

Usually, you'll have a decent Staff if you start Elden Ring with one of the magic classes. Unlike other RPGs, you can even finish the game with the same set of weapons you started with, but realistically, these aren't the greatest armaments. So with that in mind, I will make a list of the strongest Staves in Elden Ring and how to obtain them.

Lusat's Glinstone Staff

The Lusat's Glinstone Staff is such a powerful Staff, and compared to other ones, Lusat's Glintstone Staff deals a lot more damage. To be able to wield it, you'll need 52 Intelligence. It's the best armament for doing massive burst damage to bosses, especially when you combine it with special items in Elden Ring.

Because its spells require a lot of FP, I don't advise using this staff early in the game. You can also upgrade this staff by using Somber Smithing Stones.

How to Get Lusat's Glinstone Staff

Firstly, go to Selia, the Town of Sorcery in eastern Caelid. Then ignite the three flames atop the towers to unlock the sealed doors. After you proceed through the door, you'll have to fight two bosses, Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest. After you kill them, you will find Lusat's Glinstone Staff in a chest nearby.

Demi-Human Queen's Staff

There are many alternatives for different builds and item combinations with Elden Ring, and for Mage builds, the Demi-Human Queen's Staff can be extremely useful. Players will find this staff to be an excellent option because it is situated quite early in the game, and in the right hands, it can be very powerful. This staff can be upgraded for a mid-range sorcery build and can be taken to a +25 because it just needs Smithing Stones to level up.

Attributes Required

The Demi-Human Queen's Staff is probably the best Staff in Elden Ring for low-Int builds. It is the strongest staff for players with 10 to 40 INT levels when fully upgraded. It requires level 10 in Intelligence.

How to Get the Demi-Human Queen's Staff

Luckily, the staff is rather simple to find and locate. As I mentioned earlier, you can obtain this staff at the beginning of the game. Just head to the location called Weeping Peninsula. You can find this area south of Limgrave. Once you reach this destination, head to the Demi-Human Forest Ruins, which are located near the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace. There you'll have to fight the Demi-Human Queen to obtain this staff. This Boss can be tricky if you have a low-level character. To change that, you can simply buy some Elden Ring runes to boost your character, so you don't have to worry about any boss.

Carian Regal Scepter

Even though it's one of the best staves in Elden Ring, using it comes with a high Intelligence requirement of 60. Although, getting to 60 Intelligence shouldn't be a problem for those who are already skilled in sorceries and magic attacks. Only the Prince of Death's Staff and Lusat's Glintstone Staff can surpass its amazing 373 Sorcery Scaling. This staff also has the added advantage of enhancing Full Moon sorceries. There are currently only two Full Moon Sorceries available in Elden Ring, but we could get more with the upcoming Elden Ring DLC.

Unique Skill - Spinning Weapon

Lifts the staff into the air and then spins it rapidly. It will cause successive attacks on anybody it touches.

How to Get the Carian Regal Scepter

Since the Carian Regal Scepter is a Glinstone Staff, this suggests that it is somehow related to Raya Lucaria Academy. First, you'll have to beat Rannela, Queen of the Full Moon, in Raya Lucaria Academy. After you kill her, you'll get the remembrance of the Full Moon and then simply trade it with Enia at Roundtable Hod. After you give it to Enia, you will be able to get Rennala's Full Moon or this amazing Staff, the Carian Regal Scepter.

Azur's Glintstone Staff

Although the damage scaling ability of this staff is decent but not exceptional, its benefit to casting spells at a much faster rate elevates it to the top of the list. Azur's Glinstone Staff increases the spell's casting speed by 8-9%. Even though it costs 20% more FP, this is the game's fastest-casting staff. Blasting out amazing Sorceries at a rapid pace can be devastating for opponents if you have the "Mind" to spare the extra FP cost. Azur's Glinstone Staff has no unique weapon skills.

How to Get Azur's Glinstone Staff

To get this staff, you'll need to do some steps. So this Glinstone is located in Raya Lucaria Academy.

First, you'll need to go to the Church of the Cuckoo sie of grace and climb the ladder there, presuming you have unlocked all of the shortcuts, especially the one leading to the second floor. There you will find a Glintstone Sorcerer and two Lazuli Sorcerers who are guarding this place. Go towards the east side, and you will spot an arch doorway at the end.

You will know if you are on the right track if you see the High Page nearby. Defeat him and enter the closest room, where you will find Azur's Glinstone Staff on the ground near the crystals. If you have trouble finding this staff, here you can find a complete guide on how to obtain Azur's Glinstone Staff.

Staff of the Guilty

Most likely, the most underrated staff in the Lands Between is the Staff of the Guilty. This staff is somehow unique because it doesn't scale off Intelligence.  Instead, this staff scales with Faith and Strength, and we can definitely put it in the S-rank category. Something worth mentioning is that all thorn sorceries you cast with this staff will deal more damage. The one Sorcery I highly recommend with this staff is the amazing Briars of Sinn. Additionally, you can improve it by using Somber Smithing Stones.

Attributes Required

8 Strength and level 12 in Faith

How to Get Staff of the Guilty

Firstly, you must travel to Fort Laiedd to acquire this staff. Fort Laiedd is a fortress in Mt.Gelmir. You'll have to go to Altus Plateau to get there, either by using the Grand Lift of Dectus or through the Dungeon that connects Liurnia to the Plateau.

When you arrive at Altus Plateau, go west and follow the path that passes through the mountainous ravine. This will lead you to the Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace which is near the fortress. Once there, you'll have to kill some Thorn Sorcerers that are wielding the blazing staves. It will definitely test your patience because the drop rate for this staff is only 2%, but it is worth it.

These were some of the most powerful Staves in Elden Ring. Since most Staves are unique, every player will have a different experience with them. Your skill set and stat requirements will be the decisive factors. Some Staves will work better with specific Sorceries, as it all depends on the opponent. I couldn't include all of them, so here are some honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions

Astrologer's Staff

You can purchase this staff for 800 Runes from the Nomadic Merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes. Additionally, this is also a starting Staff if you choose the Astrologer Class.

The Meteorite Staff

You can find the Meteorite Staff on a body hanging out of a tower's window in the Street of Sages. This is located on the edge of the Swamp of Aeonia.

Staff of Loss

You will find the Staff of Loss in Sellia, Town of Sorcery. It's on a body leaning over a balcony of a building. You can access it when you jump across the rooftops.

The Rotten Crystal Staff

You can obtain it after you kill the Lesser Crystalian mage in the first section of Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree.

Gelmir Glintstone Staff

The Gelmir Glinstone Staff is a rare drop from the Mage-Serpent in the throne room. It is advised that players apply the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot because this item increases your chance of getting this staff. The Gelmir Glinstone Staff has a low drop rate, so you'll definitely need patience.

Academy Glinstone Staff

You can loot this staff from the body of Thops, but you'll have to do some steps. Firstly, you'll have to give him the Academy Glinstone Key. Then go to the Schoolhouse Classroom site of grace, where you will find his corpse on a chair outside the room.
