In SoD Phase 2, professions will see some significant updates. The skill cap will be raised to 225, with new specializations set to arrive in Phase 3. Players can expect some new recipes for non-gathering professions such as Leatherworking, Tailoring, Blacksmithing, Alchemy, Enchanting, and Engineering. These updates will introduce a new quest chain for unlocking recipes and new materials. Highlights include Bind-on-Pickup epic helms with unique on-use effects for Leatherworking, Tailoring, and Blacksmithing, offering powerful alternatives to Engineering goggles.

There will be new, never-before-seen materials in Phase 2, which will be available for you to collect and trade with other players. These new materials are quoted from Blizzard's official site.

The quest chain starts with a drop from the final boss of Gnomeregan, Mekgineer Thermaplugg, who drops a Schematic: Thermaplugg's Safe Combination. This schematic allows you to open a hidden safe in the dungeon, which contains a mysterious item called the Spark of Imagination. This item starts a quest that sends you to various locations and NPCs, who will teach you how to use the spark to create new materials.

How to Choose the Best Professions

Choosing the best professions in SoD Phase 2 depends on your goals, preferences, and playstyle. There is no definitive answer to which professions are the best, as different professions have different benefits and drawbacks, and the most profitable or useful choice can vary depending on the server's economy and player demand. Here are some general guidelines and tips on how to choose the best professions in Phase 2:

If you want to maximize your WoW Season of Discovery gold income, you should choose professions that can produce or gather items that are in high demand, such as potions, flasks, elixirs, glyphs, gems, enchants, gear, and more. Some of the best professions for gold making are Herbalism, Mining, Alchemy, and Jewelcrafting, as they can provide you with valuable materials or products that you can sell at the Auction House. You can also use the Potion of Treasure Finding, which increases the loot from certain mobs in some zones, to get extra gold and items.

If you want to optimize your character's power and performance, you should choose professions that can enhance your stats, abilities, or gear. Some of the best professions for personal use are Engineering, Enchanting, and Blacksmithing, as they can provide you with unique or exclusive benefits, such as goggles, devices, ring enchants, sockets, and more. You can also use the new profession quest chain that leads to new materials that you can use to craft more powerful items.

If you want to support your guild or raid group, you should choose professions that can offer useful buffs, consumables, or services to your allies. Some of the best professions for guild or raid utility are Tailoring, Leatherworking, and Alchemy, as they can provide you with items that can benefit the whole group, such as bags, cloaks, drums, potions, flasks, and elixirs. You can also use the new world buff that is obtained from the final boss of Gnomeregan.

I hope this helps you choose the best professions for your goals and playstyle in Phase 2 SoD.
