The Turbo Boost event is finally here in The War Within, offering players a powerful opportunity to catch up on alt characters and push their mains to new heights. With upgrades to Mythic track gear, improved item levels (up to 680+), easier access to Valorstones, and uncapped crest farming, this event is all about gearing up fast and efficiently.
Whether you're aiming to enhance every piece of your gear, optimize crest farming, or take advantage of the new Puzzling Cartel Chips, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to make the most of the Turbo Boost. 1. Valorstones Are Now Warbound
One of the biggest changes in this event is that Valorstones are now warbound, meaning you can transfer them between characters. This is a first-time feature and a massive quality-of-life improvement for alt-gearing. Keep in mind, there's a 20% tax on transfers — so you'll lose a bit in the process — but being able to move this currency across your characters is still a game-changer.
Your main will likely accumulate a large stockpile of Valorstones while doing gearing activities. You can then funnel these to your alts to quickly bring them up to speed.
Quick Ways to Earn Valorstones
You can earn Valor through most in-game content, including open-world, delves, dungeons, raids, and PvP. However, for quick and consistent Valor, focus on the Undermine zone:
- Grab a Punch Card from the Cartels of Undermine Renown track and complete simple activities like:
- Side gigs (very efficient)
- Scrap pile scavenging
- Boost can collecting
- Rare mob farming
- Tier 1 delves
- Completing a Punch Card list rewards 250 Valorstones, with bonus stones for each task on the list. It's an excellent source of upgrade currency for minimal effort.
2. Gilded Crests Are Now Uncapped
The event removes the cap on Gilded Crests, allowing you to farm them endlessly — great news for those looking to max out gear.
Upgrading Mythic Track Gear
Previously maxing out at item level 678, Mythic track gear can now reach 684 with two additional upgrade ranks. This makes farming Gilded Crests more important than ever.
Best Method to Farm Gilded Crests
- Mythic+ dungeons at +7 keystone level or higher are currently the most efficient source.
Higher keystones (like +8, +10, or +12) can yield more Gilded Crests if completed quickly.
Aim for the highest key level you can consistently complete at a fast pace.
- Delves still drop some Gilded Crests but are far less efficient due to internal caps, making them a secondary option for more casual players.
No Advanced Strategy Needed
- +7 keys are relatively easy, with limited affixes.
- Use the "W strat": Keep moving forward, clear trash to hit 100%, and defeat bosses — no fancy skips or complex routing required.
- If you're a tank with geared DPS friends, consider larger pulls to make the run even smoother.
3. Upgrading Crafted Gear
Your crafted gear also benefits from this Turbo Boost — with the right materials, you can increase item levels by an additional six levels.
How to Upgrade Crafted Items
- Crafted items can be upgraded via recrafting.
- Visit the Crafting Order NPC, where you can purchase the new reagent - Gilded Augmentation Matrix. The cost is 30 Gilded Crests each.
- When recrafting: Add the new Augmentation Matrix, which applies the six item level boost.
If you've been relying on crafted items due to bad Great Vault RNG (like many players), this is a fast and reliable way to boost your power.
4. Puzzling Cartel Chips: Use Them Wisely
As part of the Turbo Boost event, a new catch-up currency is introduced: the Puzzling Cartel Chips, commonly referred to as the Dinar Token. This currency is designed to help players gear up more efficiently, especially if they've had bad luck with drops or are returning after a break.
How to Earn Dinar Tokens
Availability: These tokens will become available starting the first week of the Turbo Boost.
Weekly Limit:
- In Week 1, you can earn three tokens.
- Afterwards, you can earn one token per week by completing a weekly quest.
Weekly Quest Requirements: The quest is simple—just slay a few raid bosses or complete Mythic+ dungeons to receive your token.
What Can You Buy with the Dinar Tokens?
Vendor Items: Tokens can be used to buy gear from a vendor, including gear from raids and Mythic+ dungeons. Every item costs three tokens, and since you can earn up to 9 tokens total, you'll be able to buy up to 3 pieces of gear.
5. Unlocking Higher-Quality Gear Tracks
Hero Track (Base Level): Immediately available. You can buy Hero track versions of raid and dungeon items without any additional requirements.
Mythic Track (Upgraded): Requires specific achievements before unlocking:
For Raid Gear: You must defeat the associated raid boss on Mythic difficulty to unlock Mythic track versions of that boss's loot. For example, to buy the Mythic version of House of Cards, you must defeat One-Armed Bandit on Mythic difficulty first.
For Dungeon Gear: To unlock Mythic-level trinkets from dungeons, you need to complete all seasonal keystones at +12 or higher.
Advice on Spending Your Tokens Wisely
For Mythic Raiders / High-End Players: Do not spend tokens immediately: Wait until you can unlock the Mythic track so you can buy the highest quality versions of the gear you want.
For Casual Players: If you don't plan on doing Mythic raids or high-level dungeons, Hero track gear is still a solid upgrade. Also, use the tokens to finalize your character for the current or upcoming season.
