By Penny Tue Jan 13 2026 07:36:16 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

Patch 7.4 for Final Fantasy XIV delivers an impressive number of quality of life (QoL) improvements that significantly enhance everyday gameplay. From long-awaited system upgrades to crafting, gathering, Deep Dungeon, and cosmic exploration improvements, these changes quickly add up. Below is a full breakdown of the most important QoL updates introduced in Patch 7.4, which is from Meoni’s YouTube channel.

As Patch 7.4 introduces more streamlined systems and reduces daily friction, having enough gil remains essential for teleport fees, crafting, glamour collection, and endgame preparation. If you’re looking for a fast and secure way to stock up on FFXIV gil across NA, EU, JP, OCE, or Traditional Chinese servers, MmoGah offers reliable delivery methods and professional support to help you stay focused on the content you enjoy.

General & World Quality of Life Improvements

“Repair All” Option

One of the most impactful QoL additions in Patch 7.4 is the new “Repair All” option. Previously, players had to repair gear manually by category - Armoury Chest, inventory, and individual slots—whether repairing at a vendor or using their own crafting skills.

Now, a single button repairs every equipped and stored item across all gear slots at once. This eliminates unnecessary menu navigation and stands as one of the best quality-of-life improvements the game has ever received.

Direct Teleport to Phantom Village

Players can now teleport directly to Phantom Village from Tuliyollal, provided all Aetheryte shards in Tuliyollal have been unlocked, and the village has been visited before. This is especially helpful for relic weapon progression and trips to Occult Crescent, removing the need to travel via docks and NPCs.

New Aetherytes and Faster Travel

New Aetherytes have been added to the Moon and Phaenna. These additions greatly reduce travel time during stellar missions and world upgrade FATEs, especially for gatherers and players engaged in cosmic exploration.

Cosmic Exploration & Stellar Mission Improvements

Stellar missions have received major clarity and reward upgrades:

1. Consecutive Gold Star Bonuses now apply when completing missions on the same star:

The bonus resets after achieving Super Star status. This system applies to Class A or higher stellar missions and provisional missions.

2. Players will now receive a warning message when a stellar mission requires expert recipes, preventing unexpected failures.

3. An exclamation mark icon appears over Alerot when a Mech Directive is active.

4. During Red Alerts, players can now warp directly to mission sites by speaking to the Lefleda NPC in Sinus Ardorum.

5. New announcements trigger before and during Red Alerts, and initiative progress notifications now appear upon entering cosmic exploration areas (this can be toggled off in Exotablet settings).

The Exotablet has also been expanded for Patch 7.41’s Artifact Search feature and includes updated explanations for new dronebits obtainable on Oizys.

Emotes & Social UI Updates

Emotes received subtle but welcome improvements:

1. Emotes now display an icon indicating whether they can be used while holding the Torch accessory.

2. Cheer emotes have been renamed and recolored for clarity:

The new icons are more vibrant and easier to distinguish at a glance.

Deep Dungeon Quality of Life Improvements

Deep Dungeon players benefit greatly from Patch 7.4:

These changes are especially valuable given recent server instability and help protect solo clears, achievements, and weekly Challenge Log progress.

Variant & Criterion Dungeon Updates

In preparation for new Variant content arriving in Patch 7.45:

1. A new Variant action, Variant Eagle Eye Shot, has been added.

2. Dungeon labels have been updated to “Variant” and “Advanced / Criterion.”

3. Record windows now show green indicators when new entries are available, making mount achievements tracking much easier.

Duty Support & Trust System Improvements

AI-controlled content received a major survivability boost with the new Willful status effect:

This currently applies to The Bowl of Embers, The Navel, The Howling Eye, and The Porta Decumana. Later duties, such as Mother Crystal, Everkeep, and the Ageless Necropolis, also include an additional healing-over-time effect when accompanied by multiple NPCs. NPC Cover and Covered status icons were also updated for improved clarity.

Glamour System Quality of Life

The unrestricted glamour system is the headline feature of Patch 7.4, but additional refinements were added:

While the glamour dresser cap remains at 800 slots for now, these changes make organization significantly easier.

Crafting & Gathering Quality of Life

Crafting Improvements

1. The confirmation prompt for Extracting Materia has been removed.

2. Trial Synthesis improvements:

Gathering Improvements

Final Thoughts

While Patch 7.4 may not deliver the single largest QoL feature in FFXIV history, it introduces a wide range of thoughtful, player-focused improvements. From faster travel and safer Deep Dungeon runs to smoother crafting, gathering, and glamour management, these changes collectively make daily gameplay more enjoyable.
