PoE 2 0.3: How to Craft 50 Movement Speed Boots

In this video guide, CaptainLance9 will craft two pairs of boots. One will feature double T1 Energy Shield (ES) rolls, three solid suffixes, and 50% increased movement speed on a white base. Another one will have a T1 life roll paired with 50% increased movement speed and three reliable suffixes.

Getting Two Ideal Affixes

This guide will use the Exceptional Sandsworn Sandals and Exceptional Apostle Leggings as examples. For this crafting process, we will need the following currencies: Perfect Orbs of Augmentation, Perfect Orbs of Transmutation, and Orbs of Annulment.

For the Exceptional Sandsworn Sandals, the goal is to achieve double T1 ES rolls, which requires hitting 100% Increased Energy Shield (ES).

For the Exceptional Apostle Leggings, our primary objective is to secure a T1 life roll before proceeding to the next step.

Start by transmuting the boots. At this stage, look for either a good suffix or the ideal prefix. For instance, if you hit a rarity suffix on the leggings, that's a positive outcome, so you need to augment that. If you don't hit life, you'll need to annul. For the sandals, if you roll mana, which isn't useful for your build, you need to annul it right away.

The process will involve alternating between annulling and augmenting until you land a good suffix along with the ideal prefix.

Understanding the Odds

When rolling for prefixes, you have a 1 in 6 chance of hitting your ideal prefix, which includes life, mana, three defense stats, and movement speed.

Each time you roll for a prefix, you essentially have a 1 in 6 chance of landing your ideal prefix.

As for the suffixes, about half of the potential stats are beneficial, such as resistances, main attributes, and rarity.

Adding a Guaranteed Good Suffix to Each Pair of Boots

After having two pairs of boots with ideal stats, we need to add a guaranteed good suffix to each pair of boots. In this example, Greater Essences of Thawing, Greater Essences of Grounding, or Greater Essences of Insulation will be helpful, as these will guarantee a T3 resistance, which is quite beneficial for the boots. Most of these boots are item level 81 or lower; while item level 82 gives access to T1 resistances and 35 movement speed, such options with two sockets are rare and expensive. Therefore, it's generally advisable to start with a base that is item level 80 or lower, ideally in the 75 to 80 range, as this will allow access to most of the desirable rolls.

Adding Abyssal Suffixes

After adding guaranteed good suffixes to these pairs of boots, we need to force an abyssal suffix onto the boots. To achieve this, we need the Omen of Dextral Necromancy and the Preserved Ribs.

Adding Movement Speed

The next step is to add 30% increased movement speed. But before this, make sure you use the Fracturing orb on these boots to lock a random modifier in place, preventing any changes to it in subsequent crafting attempts.

To add 30% increased movement speed, we can accomplish this by combining Essence of Hysteria with Omen of Dextral Crystallization. This combination allows for the removal of unwanted suffixes without affecting our T1 ES or T1 life roll, which we want to protect.

We first click on Omen of Dextral Crystallization and then apply the Essence of Hysteria on the two pairs of boots. This should remove the lower-tier resistance rolls we have.

Now, we have the ideal prefix of movement speed, the ideal life prefix, and the desecrated mods.

Guaranteeing the T1 Energy Shield

The next step to guarantee T1 ES on the sandals involves using a combination of Omens of Homogenising Exaltation, Omens of Greater Exaltation, and Perfect Exalted orbs of PoE 2.

Understanding Affix Tags

If you examine the hybrid defense stat on the sandals, you'll notice that it lacks a defense tag. This means that when we use a Perfect Exalted Orb, we cannot hit T2; we can only achieve T1 Energy Shield (ES) through applying Omen of Homogenising Exaltation. So, we can guarantee hitting T1 flat ES and secure double T1 ES. The lightning roll, which has an elemental tag, can hit any of the other resistances or elemental ailment mitigations.

Risk Management

If you prefer to be more cautious and avoid the risk of rolling undesirable effects like shock duration, chill duration, or freeze duration, you can replace the Omen of Greater Exaltation with Omen of Sinistral Exaltation. By doing so, your next Exalted Orb will only add prefix mods. By applying the Perfect Exalted Orb along with the Omen of Homogenising Exaltation and Omen of Sinistral Exaltation being activated, you ensure that only a prefix will be added, which will force the T1 ES roll.

Using Omen of Dextrous Crystallization and Essence of Horror

Next, utilize Omen of Dextral Crystallization combined with Essence of Horror. This combination guarantees the removal of a suffix, ensuring that none of your existing prefixes are affected. The goal here is to remove a suffix and add one that you want.

The reason for having the desecrated mod on the boots is that if it gets removed, it's not a major loss; we can always add another desecration mod guaranteed to force a good affix. However, on the sandals, which have a lightning resistance, if we lose the lightning resistance, it makes it much harder to achieve a desirable outcome. This presents a 50/50 shot: if you remove the lightning resistance, we may be disappointed, but if we remove the desecrated mod, we can easily replace it.

If the lightning resistance gets removed from the sandals, we'll need to blind slam for the last suffix and hope to hit something comparable to lightning resistance. If you don't have many avenues to force a specific outcome, you'll proceed with a Greater Exalted orb instead of a Perfect Exalted orb, as the latter can be quite expensive—around three Divine orbs each.

Finalizing the Crafting

To wrap up the crafting process for these items, we need to use The Well of Souls. Click on Omen of Abyssal Echoes in the inventory and place the sandals in the Well of Souls, aiming for a hybrid resistance, which is the ideal stat. However, a T1 or T2 resistance will also be fine.

Selecting the Best Stats

After we hit a good stat, we just take it! Don't click reroll or gamble. If you land a solid stat, don't hesitate to accept it. These sandals are looking great with double T1 ES, 30% movement speed, and three excellent suffixes. For the leggins, aim for life, movement speed, and three good suffixes as well.

Avoiding Risks in Crafting

Gambling could lead to unsatisfactory options, requiring you to spend Omens of Light and redo the process, which can become costly.

Achieving 50% Movement Speed

Achieving 50% movement speed is contingent upon having a "100% increased effect of socketed item" mod and two 5% movement speed runes, which gives you 10% movement speed per socket, along with the 30% from the boots.

Final Thoughts

With the release of the 0.3 patch, crafting in Path of Exile 2 has evolved significantly, offering new opportunities for detailed item planning despite initial frustrations with patch changes. Boots are an excellent example of how thoughtful crafting can yield powerful results.
