Getting Started: Unlocking Phantom Village
Your relic journey begins with speaking to the Expedition Messenger in Tuliyollal. This will lead you to the Eureka Isle, along with several introductory cutscenes and objectives. Complete the initial tasks—checking specific locations and talking to NPCs—and you’ll unlock Phantom Village, the central hub for all things relic-related. Also, you can always re-enter Phantom Village via the Passage to Phantom Village at the Tuliyollal Pier.
Stage One: Arcane Artistry & Demiatma Farming
Once inside Phantom Village, pick up the quest Arcane Artistry, where you’ll reunite with Gerolt, who will again assist you in forging your relic.
Demiatma Collection
Gerolt’s first request is to gather Demiatma—you’ll need six different types, with three of each type. This system feels reminiscent of previous relic grinds from Heavensward and Shadowbringers. Here’s how to collect them:
- Participate in FATEs across specific zones (each Demiatma is tied to a zone).
- Complete Critical Encounters within Occult Crescent.
- Farm in active FATE groups, especially if you’re leveling alt jobs (bonus XP!).
- Sell Bicolor Gemstones you collect for Final Fantasy 14 gil—100 gems = 1 Gem Voucher.
Pro Tip: This step is account-wide—you only need to do it once, even for multiple relics!
Efficiency Tips
- If relic progress is your top priority, do a mix of Occult Crescent content and zone-wide FATEs.
- When you have three of one Demiatma type, shift your focus to FATEs in the corresponding zones to complete the set.
- Overfarming a type is wasteful since extras past three are useless.
Recommended Jobs
- Warrior is ideal for soloing and surviving critical encounters, thanks to its strong self-sustain.
- Monk with a phantom job can be a strong damage option with engaging mechanics like Phantom Kick.
Stage Two: Tomestones of Heliometry
The second step involves collecting 1,500 Tomestones of Heliometry per weapon—your first weapon requires collecting three Arcane Knights (500 each).
How to Farm Heliometry Tomestones
- Rank Hunt Trains: Easily farm a full relic for a train run during peak times.
- Roulette Dungeons: Especially Expert, Level Cap, or High-Level Dungeons. Most overpowered jobs steamroll through low-level dungeons.
- Occult Crescent Critical Encounters: Each rewards 20 tomestones—great if you’re still farming Demiatma.
- PvP Matches: Even losses grant tomestones, so queue up if you enjoy PvP.
- Wondrous Tails: Lucky players can snag up to 500 tomestones from two-line completions (though you may want to save these for other rewards).
Final Steps & Summary
Once you’ve gathered your three Arcane Knights, return to Gerolt, who will craft your first-stage Phantom weapon. Any additional weapons for other jobs can be crafted by the Lalafell NPC standing next to him. The first stage can take half a day or longer, depending on your luck and grind speed—but it’s one-time only! If you haven’t yet completed Savage gear, the Occult Crescent armor rewards can be a massive power boost. Participate in the Occult Crescent content now, and it’ll make your journey smoother and more enjoyable.
