EA Sports FC 27 is bringing some serious nostalgia to Ultimate Team with the introduction of Hall of FUT cards. Featuring former FIFA fan favorites such as Hulk, David Luiz, Theo Walcott, Antonio Valencia, Marouane Fellaini, Mario Balotelli, and many more, the new card type gives players a chance to bring some classic names back onto the pitch.
However, there is an important difference between Hall of FUT cards and traditional Icons or Heroes: the base Hall of FUT versions will not be available in packs at launch. Instead, players will need to use the new Gallery system and collect Gallery Tokens to obtain them.
What Are Hall of FUT Cards?
Hall of FUT is a new card category designed around football nostalgia. Unlike Icons and Heroes, these cards represent players remembered for their popularity and memorable moments in previous FIFA titles.
The cards also appear to use a chemistry system similar to Heroes, with a nation and league displayed on the item. This should make many Hall of FUT players relatively easy to fit into different Ultimate Team squads.
The initial lineup includes a wide range of familiar names. Theo Walcott, for example, arrives with 96 Pace and Rapid+, while Mario Balotelli has 87 Shooting and Low Driven Shot+. Marouane Fellaini features the Hair trait and Precision Header+, while other returning names include Hulk, David Luiz, Jervinho, Florenzi, Antonio Valencia, Micah Richards, Aiden McGeady, and more.
The relatively modest overall ratings also make these cards particularly interesting for future Evolutions. Although an 84- or 85-rated player may eventually fall behind the power curve, Evolution upgrades could potentially turn some Hall of FUT cards into much stronger long-term options.
How to Get Hall of FUT Players
EA has confirmed that the base Hall of FUT players will be obtained through the Gallery Token Store rather than standard packs.
The process is built around three main steps:
1. Complete Gallery sets
2. Earn Gallery Tokens from set grades
3. Spend Gallery Tokens in the Gallery Store
Gallery sets can be based on different categories, including leagues, clubs, nationalities, and card rarities. As players add cards to their collections, the relevant sets can be graded.
Higher grades provide better rewards, including more Gallery Tokens in qualifying sets. The ultimate goal is to build up enough tokens to redeem Hall of FUT players from the store.
One important detail is that completing a Gallery set does not mean permanently submitting or destroying the cards. Cards that enter the club, Transfer List, Quick Sell section, or Unassigned area can count toward Gallery progress, even if they are later sold or discarded.
This makes the system more integrated with normal Ultimate Team progression. Opening packs, purchasing players with FUT coins, completing SBCs, and earning objective rewards can all contribute toward Gallery progress.
The Biggest Question: How Many Tokens Will They Cost?
While the acquisition method is known, the most important details about the Hall of FUT store remain unclear.
The biggest question is the Gallery Token price of each player.
During the beta, completing and grading sets could generate a significant number of tokens, particularly when players were purchased specifically to improve a set’s grade. This raises concerns about whether users with larger coin balances could progress through the Gallery substantially faster by buying the required players.
At the same time, FC 27's emphasis on first-owner players and other collection-related tags could prevent the system from becoming entirely pay-to-win.
Another unanswered question is whether EA will introduce a limit on how many Gallery Tokens can be earned within a certain period. FC 26 used weekly limits for some token-based systems, but the Gallery works differently because its progression is connected to collection and menu activities rather than simply gameplay rewards.
Until EA reveals the final token economy, the actual effort required to collect Hall of FUT players remains uncertain.
Will Hall of FUT Cards Stay Available All Year?
The long-term availability of these cards could determine how valuable the Gallery system becomes.
Keeping the base Hall of FUT players in the Gallery Store throughout the entire FC 27 cycle would give players a consistent collection goal. Instead of relying on luck to pack a promotional version, players could gradually earn enough tokens to obtain a favorite player whenever needed.
This could also make the cards more interesting for Evolutions.
For example, an 84-rated Hall of FUT player might eventually become outdated as stronger cards arrive. However, if that player remains permanently available, future Evolutions could provide a reason to return to the card and upgrade it over time.
That would turn the Gallery into more than a short-term reward system. It could become a long-term collection and customization feature throughout the FC 27 cycle.
Why Hall of FUT Could Be One of FC 27’s Most Interesting Features
The biggest appeal of Hall of FUT is simple: nostalgia.
Many of these players have not appeared in Ultimate Team for years, while others were previously available as Heroes. Seeing names such as Hulk, David Luiz, Theo Walcott, and Antonio Valencia return creates an opportunity to recreate some of the most memorable FIFA-era squads.
The challenge will be balancing that nostalgia with accessibility.
If Hall of FUT players require too many tokens or an excessive amount of Gallery grinding, collecting the full lineup could become frustrating. If the token requirements are reasonable and the cards remain available for most or all of the game cycle, however, the system could provide a rewarding long-term objective.
The potential for Evolutions makes the idea even more appealing. A favorite FIFA legend could start as an ordinary 84- or 85-rated item and eventually become a personalized high-rated card through multiple Evolution upgrades.
For now, the Hall of FUT concept looks promising, but the final verdict depends heavily on the Gallery Store’s token prices, earning limits, and long-term availability.
FC 27 players have the nostalgia. Now, the Gallery system needs to make collecting these legends worth the grind.
