Tired of hoarding bags full of blue and yellow items, desperately hunting for that perfect combination of affixes? Convinced that pushing higher Torment tiers requires mythic uniques and pristine greater affixes?

Season 14's "Cube" crafting system has fundamentally changed how gear acquisition works in Diablo 4. With enough materials, you can stay in town and craft a complete set of endgame-ready gear through smart gambling and affix manipulation—no farming required.

This guide walks you through the entire process from start to finish, showing you how to build a full set that can handle Torment 12 on a budget.

Part One: Preparation and Setting Goals

Before you begin, make sure you have a healthy supply of Opals—the currency you'll spend at the Purveyor of Curiosity. If you're running low, Helltides are currently the most efficient farm for crafting materials this season. Nightmare Dungeons are a solid backup option.

The Core Strategy: You're not shopping for legendaries. You want blue or yellow (magic/rare) bases. As long as the item power hits 900 or above (greater affixes are nice but not required), it's the perfect "blank canvas." The Cube can wipe all affixes clean, keeping only the base item—so item power is all that matters. Stats on the purchase are irrelevant.

For this guide, we'll craft: a chest, Pants, Boots, a two-handed mace, a one-handed sword, Two Rings, and an Amulet. To prove this works, the demonstration even uses some 850-power weapons—and it still survives Torment 12.

Part Two: The Core Philosophy — Hard Stats First, Easy Stats Second

The secret to efficient Cube crafting is simple:

• Gamble for easy-to-get affixes, but lock down the rare ones.

Don't try to roll four perfect affixes at once—you'll burn through your materials in minutes. The correct workflow is:

• Know your targets: Open your build planner (Maxroll, D4Planner, etc.) and confirm exactly which four affixes each gear slot needs.

Understand the "Prism" system: Every affix belongs to a specific Tuning Prism category:

• Aggressive — Main stats, damage multipliers

• Resourceful — Resource-related stats

• Pragmatic — Cooldown reduction, movement speed

• Protector — Armor, life, defensive stats

• Adept — Skill ranks, core stats

By applying the correct prism, you shrink the RNG pool dramatically.

Master "Focus Reroll": Instead of wasting gold at the enchanter, use Focus Reroll in the Cube. It only rerolls affixes within a specific prism category, making it much cheaper and more targeted.

Part Three: Step-by-Step Crafting Breakdown

1. Chest Piece

♦ Target Affixes: Strength, Fury Regeneration, Maximum Resource

♦ Process:

   • Drop your 900+ blue chest into the Cube and apply an Aggressive Prism.

   • Craft until you hit Strength (it rolls frequently).

   • Swap to a Resourceful Prism and craft twice. Because this prism's pool is tiny, you're almost guaranteed to land both Maximum Resource and Fury Regeneration in two attempts.

   • If the rolls are low, use Focus Reroll to fine-tune.

♦ Done. That's it. Three perfect affixes in under a minute.

2. Pants

Target Affixes: Strength, Maximum Life, Armor, Fury Regeneration

Pro Tip for Targeted Uniques: If you're hunting for the unique pants "Tobolt's Will," grab a 900-power yellow pair of pants and use the Cube's "Upgrade to Unique" function. Barbarians have a very small unique pants pool—roughly a 1-in-4 chance to hit Tobolt's directly. This is one of the most reliable farming methods for this item.

If you're crafting standard legendary pants instead:

• Follow the chest piece pattern. Use Protector Prism for Life and Armor, and Resourceful Prism for Fury Regeneration.

• The Protector pool is larger, so expect a few extra rerolls—but the process works the same way.

3. Boots

Target Affixes: Strength, Maximum Life, War Cry Ranks, Movement Speed

This is where the "hard-first" strategy really shines.

• Step 1: Apply an Adept Prism and use Focus Reroll until you hit +Ranks to War Cry. This is the rarest and most important affix on boots—secure it first.

• Step 2: Now apply an Aggressive Prism. With War Cry already locked, the Aggressive pool only offers "Strength" or "Skills." Since you have the skill already, Strength is guaranteed to roll. No gambling required.

• Step 3: Add Protector Prism for Maximum Life and Pragmatic Prism for Movement Speed.

By locking the hard stat first, you turn the remaining rolls into near-certainties.

4. Weapons (Two-Handed Mace & One-Handed Sword)

Target Affixes: Weapon Damage / Strength, Strength, Critical Strike Damage, Physical / All Damage Multiplier

Weapons are trickier because most relevant affixes fall under Aggressive, which has a large pool. Here's how to handle bad rolls:

• Don't brute-force it. If you roll a useless stat like "Fury on Kill" or "Damage Over Time," don't waste materials rerolling within Aggressive.

• Use Chaotic Reroll instead. This changes the affix's prism category entirely. For example, a "Fury on Kill" (Resourceful) can Chaotic Reroll into "Strength" (Aggressive) or "Cooldown Reduction" (Pragmatic)—potentially saving the piece.

• Once you have 2-3 correct affixes, finish the final stat at the enchanter using gold. This is one of the few places where spending Diablo 4 Gold makes sense—it's cheaper than burning Cube materials on a near-complete piece.

5. Amulet — The Advanced Craft

♦ Target Affixes: Critical Strike Chance, Critical Strike Damage, Vulnerable Damage, Cooldown Reduction

The amulet is the most complex craft, but it's also the most rewarding:

• Apply an Adept Prism and add three affixes. Doing this guarantees +All Skills and +Core Skills simultaneously—two massive damage boosts in one go.

• For the remaining slots, use Aggressive Prism to fish for Critical Strike Damage and Vulnerable Damage.

• Finish with Pragmatic Prism for Cooldown Reduction.

♦ Critical Tech — Locking Greater Affixes:

If you find a legendary item with a perfect Greater Affix (e.g., maximum-roll Critical Strike Chance), do not drop it directly into the Cube. First, take it to the enchanter, attempt one reroll on that specific affix (you don't need to accept the change—just click the button), and then cancel out. This "locks" the affix. From that point forward, the Cube will never remove or overwrite that locked stat, no matter how many times you reroll. This is how you preserve your most valuable rolls while still crafting the rest of the item.

Part Four: Living Proof — Torment 12 with "Naked" Gear

Following the steps above, the creator of this method successfully cleared Torment 12 using:

• 850-power weapons (below the recommended 900)

• Zero Masterworking

• Zero Tempering

• Nothing but Cube-crafted affixes and leveled glyphs

• Clear speed wasn't breaking records—but the build survived and killed. That's the point.

This strategy isn't about speed-farming Torment 12 on day one. It's about giving you a functional "skeleton" set the moment you step into Torment 1 or Torment 4. With correct affixes in every slot, you'll have the survivability and damage to farm higher-tier content efficiently—then you can masterwork, temper, and upgrade piece by piece as materials come in.

Early Survivability Tip: If you're feeling squishy, use an Aulan Prism on your amulet to roll defensive aspects like Heavenly Strength or Anger Management. Pair with Coagulation on your chest, and you'll have enough damage reduction to farm comfortably even with low Paragon and unleveled glyphs.

Part Five: Final Thoughts

Season 14's Cube system is the ultimate shortcut to gear independence. No more hoarding every drop and praying to RNGesus. No more frustration over missing affixes.

Once you understand:

• Prism categories (which affix lives where)

• Focus Reroll (targeted, cheap rerolls)

• Chaotic Reroll (category-switching to salvage bad stats)

...you can craft a full set of endgame-ready gear for a fraction of the cost and time of traditional farming.

Remember: a high-item-power base beats a flashy-but-useless unique, and correct affix combinations matter more than raw item score. Master these principles, and you'll never be stuck in progression hell again.

Now get crafting—your perfect build is only a few clicks away. Good luck, and may your rolls be ever in your favor.
