New Unique Elden Ring Builds After Patch 1.09

By Bosbone2023-05-04

With the recent release of patch 1.09 in Elden Ring, players have been experimenting with new builds and strategies to take on the game's toughest challenges. The update has brought significant changes to some weapons, Incantations, and other equipment, leading to the emergence of new and unique builds that were previously less efficient.

So, whether you prefer a more aggressive or defensive playstyle, the possibilities are endless with these new builds. Let's take a closer look at some of the exciting new unique builds players have been using to take on the world of Elden Ring.

Executioner's Greataxe Build

This build is incredibly versatile, and it all comes down to three key components that will enable you to take on any enemy in the game, especially after the 1.09 patch. Additionally, the stronger your character is, the more efficient this build will be, so make sure to boost your character's abilities with runes in Elden Ring for the best results.

Weapon

For this build, we've chosen The Executioner's Greataxe as the primary weapon. The Executioner's Greataxe is the perfect weapon for this build, as it has received significant improvements in the latest 1.09 patch.

Greataxes have had their attribute scaling increased, some attacks have increased speed and range, and their recovery time has been reduced. Additionally, the speed of guard counters has been increased.

Incantation

Pest Threads is a crucial component for this build, specifically for dealing massive damage to bosses. What makes this great Incantation so incredibly powerful is that the projectiles damage every single part of an enemy that they pass through, even if it's just for a split second. Wings, torso, legs - every part of an enemy is counted separately when being hit by Pest Threads.

Ash of War

The Ash of War that we will use for this build is the Flame of the Redmanes. Despite the controversy surrounding it due to a significant nerf in patch 1.08, it is still a highly effective weapon art that should not be overlooked.

The wide cone of flames it projects has a surprising range, and it allows you to stay at a safe distance from enemies while dealing massive damage to those weak against fire. The ability to follow up with a melee attack before the enemy gets in range is also a useful tactic. While it may not be as overpowered as before, it is still a great choice for our Ash of War.

Shields and Seals

As for the shield, you can use the Distinguished Great Shield. However, if the weight is an issue, a lighter option such as the Brass Shield will work just as well.

As for the seals, any high incant-scaling seal will suffice, with the Erdtree Seal being the most efficient at +10. Nevertheless, many seals maxed out have nearly the same amount of incant scaling, including the standard Finger Seal that can be purchased at the start of the game. So, any seal with high incant scaling will work perfectly fine for this build.

Armor Set

For this build, it's essential to equip an armor set that provides sufficient Poise. You want to aim for a Poise value above the optimal threshold of 52. This means that any heavy armor set that you can wear without going over the medium equip load limit will work. The Scaled Set is a good option, but any armor that provides high Poise while keeping you in the medium load range will suffice.

Stats

It's recommended to start as either Confessor or Hero Class to get the most out of this build. The preferred stats would be:

Vigor: 45

Mind: 20

Endurance: 30

Strength: 50

Dex: 13

Intelligence: 9

Faith: 50

Arcane: 14

New Pyroclaw Build

Elden Ring is a game renowned for its brutal boss battles, but with this new Pyroclaw build, you'll dominate the game like never before. This powerful build is all about unleashing maximum damage and efficiency to utterly annihilate your enemies. Additionally, you can make it even stronger by purchasing some great Elden Ring items to fulfill the potential of this build.

Weapon

The secret to your success is the devastating Heavy Bloodhound Claws +25, which are boosted to new heights with the Godslayer's Seal +25 and the White Mask. Once Bleed kicks in, your attack power will skyrocket, leaving your opponents reeling.

Armor Set

You'll have the advantage of the Raptor's Black Feathers (chest), which will supercharge your jump attacks and make you a force to be reckoned with. The Royal Remains set will keep you safe, automatically healing you when you're below 18 health.

As for the helm, as mentioned above, we will use the White mask. While it provides only moderate protection against damage, the primary attraction of this lightweight mask is its ability to boost bleed damage in the vicinity by 10% for 20 seconds.

Talismans

Your Talisman slots offer amazing versatility depending on the situation, with Millicent's Prosthesis giving you an incredible boost in Dexterity and attack power with successive hits. And when it comes to stamina recovery, the Green Turtle Talisman has got you covered.

Stats

In addition to your gear, your stats play a crucial role in the new Pyroclaw build. With a Vigor of 55 and Faith at 25, you can inflict bleeding on your enemies while hitting them hard with a Strength of 80. With Mind at 15 and Dexterity at 10 (boosted to 15 with Millicent's Prosthesis), you'll be unstoppable. Here are the preferred stats for this build.

Vigor: 55

Mind: 15

Endurance: 24

Strength: 80

Dex: 10

Intelligence: 10

Faith: 25

Arcane: 10

Incantations

Bloodflame Blade infuses your right-hand weapon with Bloodflame, and Flame Grant me Strength, which increases the power of physical and fire-based attacks. The third one would be the Golden Vow, which enhances both offensive and defensive capabilities for both the user and their allies.

Note

Don't forget to use and activate the Jellyfish Shield's Contagious Fury ability to gain an additional 20% damage increase. This will give you a crucial edge in battle. From there, it's all about wielding your Claws with both hands and letting the fast-spam attacks, and supercharged jump attacks do the work for you.

However, there are certain enemies in the game who are immune to Bleed. This is where the Ash of War: Cragblade comes into play. By swapping out Bloodflame Blade for Cragblade, you'll be able to boost your attack power by 15% while also increasing your stamina and stance damage by 10%.

Necromancer Build

Weapon

Regarding the Melee weapon for this build, the Sword of Night and Flame is a top choice due to its unique and powerful features. Not only does it have the ability to scale with both Intelligence and Faith, but it also offers two distinct skills that can be utilized in combat. This makes it a popular choice among Elden Ring players, and it's not hard to see why. In fact, it's so strong that it could easily be the main focus of an entire build rather than just a supporting component.

Armor Set

The Night's Cavalry armor set is an excellent choice for any build that prioritizes mobility and endurance. What sets it apart from other armor sets is that it allows you to wear other recommended equipment while still maintaining a medium equip load, and it requires less than 20 Endurance to wear.

Talismans

When maximizing spell damage output in your build, the talismans you choose can make all the difference. I recommend using the Graven-School Talisman, Graven-Mass Talisman, Radagon Icon, and Godfrey Icon.

These talismans are highly effective at consistently maximizing the damage output of all your spells. By using these talismans in combination with the right spells, you can deal devastating damage to your enemies and become a true force to be reckoned with. Whether you're engaging in PvP or taking on challenging bosses in PvE, these talismans will prove to be invaluable assets to your build.

Sorceries

For this build, there are several great sorceries that you can use to inflict maximum damage on your enemies. These include Ancient Death Rancor, Tibia's Summons, Rykard's Rancor, Magma Shot, and Roiling Magma. These spells are all incredibly powerful and can be used to devastating effect when combined with the right talismans and stats.

However, it's important to note that some sorceries may not be available until later in the game, so you may need to adjust your playstyle accordingly.

Stats

For this build, you'll need a high level of Intelligence and Faith to maximize your damage output. However, since many of the required Sorceries aren't available until late in the game, it might make more sense to go for this build on your second playthrough. While it's possible to do it on your first playthrough, you won't have a functional build until you're halfway through the game. That being said, here are the preferred stats for this build:

Vigor: 60

Mind: 40

Endurance: 20

Strength: 12

Dex: 12

Intelligence: 40-60

Faith: 40-60
