The Feast of Winter Veil is a festive time of year during which players can sample delicious festive treats, playfully toss snowballs, and receive special holiday gifts! This holiday comes on Dec 15 and ends on Jan 2, which is everyone's first chance to get the Merrymaker achievement in WotLK Classic.
This achievement is required to get the Reins of the Violet ProtoDrake, which is a 310% move speed Mount, one of only a few mounts with that speed. There's only a limited time to take advantage of getting this Mount because the Feast of Winter Veil ends on Jan 2, and if you don't get the achievement, you'll have to wait an entire year to get another chance at it, so this is your warning to get this achievement completed. In this video, I will show you exactly how you can do it.
Simply Abominable
The first achievement you'll want to do is called Simply Abominable, and you'll need to complete the quest chain to retrieve Smokywood Pastures' stolen treats and receive a Smokywood Pastures' Thank You. To get started, pick up the quest Stolen Winter Veil Treats from Wool Mortgage pocket in Ironforge.
If your alliance or Kaymard Copperpinch in Orgrimmar, If you are horde, you can pick up the quest Metzen the Reindeer. While you're in the city, make sure to Emote slash kiss, Winter Revelers, you can only do this once per hour as you wait for the kissing debuff to fade. Buy using this emote, and you will get one of three different items. Fresh Holly transforms your Mount into a reindeer. A handful of Snowflakes allow you to shower a nearby target with a cascade of snowflakes, or mistletoe, which lets you send a friend some Season's Greetings. Each of these three items is needed for achievements that we'll go over later on, so anytime you don't have a debuff. Make sure to slash-kiss a reveler.
Now once you have the quests and kissed a reveler, it's time to head to the Alterac Mountains in search of a Strange Snowman. He's located here on the map and offers you the next quest in the chain called You're a Mean One, which calls for you to locate and destroy the Abominable Greench. He patrols the Alterac Mountains in these locations. Now, this is a highly competitive part of the holiday since so many people are looking for him, and because it's a quest, you can only group up with five other people to try and tag the Grinch. If you're having a really hard time tagging the Grinch to log in at a low population time, something like 4 or 5 am server time to complete the quest when nobody else is logged on. When you defeat the Grinch, loot him for the stolen treats and return to Walmart or Kmart.
The final quest you need to complete is a Smokywood Pastures' Thank You, which just requires you to go speak with Greatfather Winter, and your achievement is complete, however after you complete the quest in 24 to 48 hours, you are going to get mailed a Winter Veil Disguise Kit, which will allow you to transform into a snowman at the cost of one snowball, and you can buy snowballs from any of these Smokywood Pastures' vendors, and this allows completion of the next achievement on our list, which is a frosty Shake.
A Frosty Shake
During the Feast of Winter Veil, use your Disguise Kit to become a snowman, and then slash dance with another Snowman in Dalaran since we just got our kit from the first achievement on our list. You're ready to get onto this one, and since we just bought some snowballs, we can easily take the portal in Dalaran to either IronForge or Thunder Bluff.
Scrooge
The next achievement is Scrooge, and you need to throw a snowball at King Magni Bronzebeard. If you're alliance, Cairne Bloodhoof, or horde, you can buy snowballs from Walmart or Penny Copperpinch. Super easy achievement to get completed.
On Metzen
The next achievement to go after is On Metzen, and you need to save Metzen in the Reindeer, which can be found in one of two locations, either in the Searing Gorge, at the location marked on the map, or in Tanaris in the location marked on the map.
All you do is read The Ransom Letter for Clues and then head to the appropriate zone. If your Hearthstone is up and set to Dollar on, you can also take the caverns of time portal to quickly get to Tanaris. Now the reward from this quest is Preserved Holly, which we will now use for our next achievement called Fa-La-La-La-Ogri'la.
Fa-La-La-La-Ogri'la
You'll need to complete the quest to bomb them again. This is actually a daily quest while you are mounted on a flying reindeer, so use the Preserved Holly we just got from saving medicine and then do that daily quest easily enough.
Holiday Bromance /Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho's
The next achievement we're going to go after is called Holiday Bromance, which was originally called Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho's. To complete this achievement, you need to use mistletoe on the horde or alliance Brothers. If you're horde, you'll need three stacks of mistletoes to complete this, and if you are alliance, you'll need nine stacks for each of the brothers to use mistletoe on, and remember, you acquire mistletoe from slash kiss, Winter Revelers found near the inns in major cities. The horde brothers are Dirkees in Warsong Hold, Keltan in Icecrown, and Malach in the undercity. The alliance brothers are Benjamin, Cassius, Christopher, Crowley, and Joshua. All are located within Stormwind, and then there's Wilhelm in Goldshire, Karman in Theramore, Anton in Nigel's point, and Nimetz in Stranglethorn Vale. A little harder for the alliance, but not that bad.
The Winter Veil Gourmet
The next achievement to go after is called the Winter Veil Gourmet, and you'll need to have your cooking skill at 325 skill. In order to complete this achievement, which requires you to create a Gingerbread Cookie Eggnog and Hot Apple Cider. All three of these recipes can be purchased from
Wulmort Jinglepocket or any of the Jinglepocket family members. If you are an alliance or any of the Copperpinch family members. If you're a horde, all of the reagents for these three recipes can be purchased from these vendors.

Besides the small eggs, these are always very expensive this time of the year, so if you don't want to buy them, you can always get a lot of them from the Dragonhawk in Eversong Woods. If you are a horde or the moon in Darkshore of your alliance. The Jinglepocket Copperpinch vendors sell the Holiday Spirits and the Sparkling Apple Cider, which you need for these recipes. Ice Cold Milk can be found on Innkeepers, General Supply vendors, Barmaids, and more. Now once you cook all three of these recipes, you can move on to the next achievement - 'Tis the Season.
'Tis the Season
For this achievement, we need to wear three pieces of winter clothing and eat Graccu's Mince Meat Fruitcake. To get three pieces of clothing, you need the red or green versions of the winter hat, winter clothes, and winter boots. Tailors can craft winter clothes and winter boots for Bolts of Runecloth and Bolts of Woolen Cloth, along with copper bars and Rugged Leather. For the winter hat, you can only get this from a number of bosses from dungeons in either normal or heroic mode, and there's even a small chance to get it off.
Any Undead or Humanoid monster in the game during the Feast of Winter Veil. Now your best bet to get it fast is to go run Nexus on normal, and you'll see Grand Magus Telestra, wearing the hat which indicates she drops it. You can also get the hat from judoka Shadow Seeker in Anka hat or Mage-Lord Urom in the Oculus. For Graccu's Mince Meat, you just need to wait 24 to 48 hours after saving Mattson, and you'll receive the mince meat in the mail equipped. Your three pieces of winter clothing, and eat your mince meat, and the achievement is complete
With a Little Helper from My Friends
Now we're going to head over to PvP for the next two achievements. First up is with a Little Helper from My Friends, and you need to earn 50 honorable kills as a Little Helper, which is a 30-minute buff you get by stepping into a Winter Wondervolt Machine. These machines are located in several places. The easiest one to get to is Dalaran in the city's center. There are also more located within or nearby most major cities and also in or around most neutral towns. The best strategy to complete this achievement is to step into the machine and then queue for Wintergrasp. If it's not available, you can also try Alterac Valley or Strand of the Ancients to get your 50 honorable kills.
Let It Snow
Now the next PVP achievement is Let It Snow. This achievement involves using a handful of snowflakes on each of the race class combinations required. If you've been following this guide so far, you should have a good amount of handfuls of snowflakes, but if not, to get them, all you need to do is just slash kiss a Winter Reveler, and you will have a chance to get some, so find the race class combinations in major cities like Dalaran that are on your faction, or if you are on a balanced server, you could probably also find opposite faction as well, but if you're on an imbalanced server, which probably most of you are going to head to Wintergrasp or Alterac Valley to find those few race class combinations that are not on your faction.
He Knows If You've Been Naughty
For this achievement, you need to open one of the presents underneath the Winter Veil tree once they are available from Dec 25 at 5:00 am server time until Jan 2 at 9: 00 am. You can find the Winter Veil tree either in Orgrimmar outside the bank. If you're a horde or in Ironforge also right outside the bank. If you are an alliance, there will also be six different types of presents under the tree, each with a Quest Marker, and all you have to do is accept any of them to get the present. This is a very easy achievement since all you have to do open one of the presents, but you have to wait until Dec 25 for this achievement. You also need to be at least level 20 in order to accept the quest.
Completing the Merrymaker Achievement
Once you complete this final achievement, that's you've successfully completed the Merrymaker meta achievement and one step closer to the Violet Protodrake.
