Lost Ark Gems Guide: Basic Information About Gems and How to Get Them

By Jessie2022-04-08

Gem System is a vital part of Smilegate's Lost Ark. You can add gems to your active skills to improve your damage and cooldown skills. In this guide, MmoGah will explain all the information about Lost Ark gems.

Basics of Gems in Lost Ark

The Basics of Gems

Gem's Type

Gems are divided into two types: Damage Increase gems and Cooldown Reduction gems. The former is triangular, which will increase your damage. In T2 and T3, they are called Azure gems and Annihilation gems. The latter is circular, which will reduce your cooldown time. In T2 and T3, they are called Farsea gems and Crimson Flame gems.

Unlock Gems

To unlock the gem system, you need to complete "the finial quest", which is the last story Quest in Yorn (ilvl 600).

Equip Gems

Once you obtain a gem, you can equip it by clicking it from your inventory or dragging it into the Gem Tab. Each character can equip up to 11 different gems. And each skill can only use one damage gem and one cooldown gem.

Fuse Gems

Each gem’s max level is lvl10. And different level has a different effect. According to the following data, one lvl10 attack gem can increase 40% damage of a skill, and one lvl10 cooldown gem can reduce 20% cooldown. You have 11 gems slots. The more high-level gems you have, the more bonus you can get. So this is an essential part of the endgame to improve your character's power.

You can level up your gems by the Fuse Gems window found on your inventory. The process is simple. You only need to put three same-level gems into the open slots and press "Fuse" to fuse them into a higher-level gem. For example, you can fuse three lvl2 gems into one lvl3 gem. There are a few points worth noting.

1. The success rate of synthesis is 100%, but the type of gem is random.

2. You can use gems of different type to synthesis, but the gems' level must be the same.

3. Cooldown Reduction gems cannot be changed into damage gems and vice versa.

Refacet/Re-roll Gems

You can re-roll the unneeded gems to get gems of your class in return. You can use this function by visiting the gem NPC in any major city or through your pet's special interface (refaceting). After you open it, all of your gems will be listed on the left side. You can click the gem you want to re-roll, and then it will be put in the middle of this UI and you can see how much it costs. As gems level higher, the costs get higher.

Reroll Gems in Lost Ark

As we see, each re-rolling will cost a lot of silver, and it's random as to what will re-roll onto it. So it isn't easy to get the exact one that you want. So we recommend you sell your gems in auction house for Lost Ark gold, then use the gold to buy the gems you need. But if you lack gold, you can visit MmoGah to buy, and MMOGAH is a 5% coupon you can use.

How to Get Gems

Once you unlock gem system, you can start collecting gems. Below are several places where you can collect them.
1. Daily Chaos Dungeons

2. Join the PvP island events held by S rank Guild.

3. Complete all stages of Boss Rush.

4. Buy them from other players on auction house (it's the easiest way)

5. Defeat the open world Field Bosses. (You can only obtain rewards from a single Field Boss per day, so choose wisely)

Tips: if you use T2 gems in T3, their effects will be reduced by 50%. So there is some good advice: start leveling up your gems as soon as you get them, but you don't need to waste much time or gold on buying gems in T2 as they will become less relevant in T3. But even if the effects are reduced, high-level T2 gems are better than early T3 gems.
