Diablo 4 is the latest installment in the popular action role-playing game series by Blizzard Entertainment. The game promises to deliver a dark and gritty gameplay experience, with a vast and dynamic open world, five diverse classes, and various enemies and bosses to fight. However, one feature that many fans are wondering about is the Secret Cow Level, a hidden and humorous area that has been a staple of the series since Diablo 2. Will Diablo 4 add Secret Cow Level in future updates? Here is what we know so far.

The History of the Secret Cow Level

The Secret Cow Level, also known as the Moo Moo Farm, is a secret area that is populated by hostile and powerful cows led by the Cow King. The Secret Cow Level first appeared in Diablo 2 as a joke and a response to a rumor that there was a secret cow level in Diablo 1. To access the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 2, players had to combine Wirt's Leg and a Tome of Town Portal in the Horadric Cube and then use the portal that appeared in the Rogue Encampment. The Secret Cow Level was a fun and challenging area where players could find rare and unique items, such as the Cow King's Leathers set.

The Secret Cow Level returned in Diablo 3 as a homage and a parody of the original. Players had to craft the Staff of Herding to access the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 3, which required several rare and whimsical ingredients, such as the Black Mushroom, the Wirt's Bell, and the Gibbering Gemstone. The Staff of Herding could then be used to open a portal to Whimsyshire, a colorful and cheerful area that contrasted with the dark and grim tone of the game. Whimsyshire was filled with cute and deadly enemies, such as unicorns, teddy bears, flowers, references, and easter eggs to other Blizzard games. Whimsyshire also had a chance to spawn a special cow enemy named Herald of the Queen, who could drop a legendary sword called the Horadric Hamburger.

The Mystery of the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4

Unfortunately, Blizzard Entertainment has officially stated that there will not be a Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4 at the current stage. The decision to exclude this fan-favorite feature was made to focus on delivering a new and immersive gameplay experience for players. However, this does not mean that the Secret Cow Level will never appear in Diablo 4, as some hints and clues suggest that it may be added in future updates.

One of the hints is the existence of a mysterious statue in the town of Ked Bardu called the Oxen God of the East. Interacting with this statue gives the player a vague hint about the Oxen Gods and a worthy offering. This hint relates to the three relics players need to obtain to unlock the Secret Cow Level: the Bloody Wooden Shard, the Intricate Metallic Fragment, and the Musty Tome. These relics are references to the Diablo 2 formula to open the Secret Cow Level: the remains of Wirt's Leg, a small shard of the Horadric Cube, and an old Tome of Town Portal. However, obtaining these relics is not easy, as they require killing 666 cows each in specific game regions.

Another hint is the data mining that has been done by some players, who have discovered some files and codes that indicate the presence of a Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4. These files and codes include the names and descriptions of the relics, the Oxen Gods, the Secret Cow Level itself, and the images and sounds of the cows and the Cow King. However, these files and codes are incomplete and inaccessible, as they are either encrypted or disabled by Blizzard. Therefore, they do not prove that the Secret Cow Level is actually in the game but that it may be added in the future.

The Future of the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4

So, will Diablo 4 add Secret Cow Level in future updates? The answer is maybe. There is no official confirmation or denial from Blizzard about the possibility of adding the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4, but there are some hints and clues that suggest that it may happen. However, it is likely that the Secret Cow Level will not be added anytime soon, as Blizzard may want to focus on other aspects and features of the Diablo 4 game, such as new classes, zones, items, and modes. Therefore, fans of the Secret Cow Level may have to wait for a long time, or even forever, to see their beloved cows return in Diablo 4.
