Artifacts are a new type of gear in New World that have unique perks and abilities. They are very rare and powerful and can be obtained from various sources. The Boltcaster is one of the new artifacts in the Season 4 Eternal Frost expansion of New World. It's a unique artifact bow that can stun and shock enemies with lightning damage. You can enhance your combat abilities and change up your gameplay with this artifact.
Boltcaster’s Perks
•Electrified: 99% damage converted to lightning, and lightning damage is increased by 20% for both weapons.
•Bolt: Lightning damage vs full health targets inflicts a 0.5s stun.
•Shirking Lightning: After dodging an attack, your next hit within 10s deals +45% base weapon damage as Lightning.
•Enchanted: Light and Heavy attacks deal +5% damage.
The Way of Getting Boltcaster
Annoyed Aguascia
Annoyed Aguascia (Level 70) is the mob that drops the bow. He is located in Elysian Wilds on the Isle of Zurvan, where you can also farm for Lifetaker. After you kill the mob, you will have a chance to get the Boltcaster. After getting the Boltcaster, to unlock its full potential, you will also need to complete a questline named: “Artifact Boltcaster”:
- 5 Cull Ice Wolf – unlock Bolt perk.
- 3 Defeat Tribunal Ice Mammoth enemies in Elysian Wilds - this task is located in Elysian Wilds, Dredged Landing, Tribunal Highmound. After finishing this task, you will unlock the Shirking Lightning perk.
- 20 Defeat Ancient Guardian enemies in Glacial Tarn – this task is located in Glacial Tarn Expedition. There are some new enemies we need to kill. Once you finish this task, you will unlock the last perk: Enchanted.
Once you have all of the perks on the Boltcaster, then you can go to upgrade it.
The Way of Upgrading Boltcaster
Artifacts can be upgraded at the Gypsum Kiln, which is a new crafting station in the Great Cleave. The following are the steps to upgrade Boltcaster:
• Make sure the Boltcaster is in your inventory or the settlement's storage.
• You also need a Weapon Matrix, 500 Dark Matter, 5 Gypsum Orbs, and a Chromatic Seal.
• Go to the Gypsum Kiln, which is located in the Great Cleave, near the Empyrean Forge. You need to complete a series of quests from Sir Loth to access the kiln.
• Open the kiln menu and scroll down to find the Boltcaster. Select it and click on Craft. You will be able to choose the final perk of the bow from a list of options.
• Enjoy your upgraded Boltcaster, which has a gear score of 700 and four perks.
