  • Player versus Player in Guild Wars 2

    By Cathy Deng2017-03-22

PvP is a game mode where players can participate in competitive games against other players. So PvP is opposed to co-operative Player versus Environment. PvP in Guild Wars 2 is an exciting game mode, which pits you against other players across the world in the ultimate test of skills. When you play PvP in GW2, you’ll earn ranks, guild wars 2 gold, etc. And if you’re playing during a league season, you’ll earn prestige.

Mmogah as a reliable site which has over 10 years’ experience in gaming industry will share you more details about PvP to make you enjoy guild wars 2 more. Before you start playing PvP, you can set up your options properly and make sure you have good keybinds. Here are some important options to set up:

    - Use Free Camera (enable)

    - Double Tap to Evade (disable)

    - Auto-targeting (disable)

    - Melee Target Assist (disable)

If you bind dodge to a button, you can move more quickly. Movement keys should be bound to WASD or ASDF (backpedal is optional). And you can bind your skills to the keys around your movement keys.

    Three Main Avenues in PvP

    • Custom Arenas

Custom Arenas use a game selection system which allows players to join the game based on map and available space. In this arena, players can join matches in progress, so the number of active players can change over the course of matches with people join or leave.

    • Unranked Arena

This is the main arena we recommend new or veteran players. All conquest maps are available in this queue.

    • Ranked Arena

During PvP League Seasons, Ranked Arena is the most competitive version of Guild Wars 2 PvP. Players can join the elites in the Legendary Division.

Unranked and Ranked arenas are more competitive game modes. Each arena consists of teams of 5 versus 5. Players can queue for a game alone or in a group. PvP Builds are locked after the match has started. All queued players are prompted to accept the match before it can start. Once all 10 players are ready, a map will be selected through a vote-weighted random roll, and the match will begin. Ranked arenas require the account to reach PvP Rank 20 and above before participating.

    Available PvP Modes

    • Structured PvP — players have access to top level equipment and all of their available skills and traits.
    • Conquest — seize capture points for your team and defeat enemy players for additional score. Each conquest map has additional elements like powerful NPCs.
    • Team Deathmatch — defeat enemy players for points.
    • Stronghold — kill the enemy's lord before they kill yours.

Secondary Objective of Each PvP Map

    • Forest of Niflhel

NPC monsters spawn after some time and then after every 3 minutes in the north-western and north-eastern corner. Defeating them grants your team 25 points and a short-time buff (+50 to all stats).

    • Legacy of the Foefire

NPC guards and ‘guild lords’ spawn at the beginning of each match in the starting zones of their respective team. In order to get to the guild lord, the enemy team has to take down a wall first. Walls can only be damaged by direct damage. Defeating the Lord grants 150 points.

    • Battle of Khylo

Each team has access to a trebuchet which can bombard any enemy or area on the battlefield. It causes massive damage to enemy players and causes knockback to players who get caught in the area of effect. It does no friendly-fire damage or knockback.

    • Temple of the Silent Storm

Four ‘meditations’ spawn periodically through the map. After completing the channelling for each meditation, the respective team acquires the buff granted by that meditation.

    • Spirit Watch

Capture the Orb of Ascension and bring it to any of the three shrines for bonus points

    • Skyhammer

Calibrate the Skyhammer to your team to do massive damage to the areas you select.

    PvP League Season 6 Starts

PvP League Season 6 has been beginning on 7 March and continuing through 1 May! In this season, losing a ranked season match with a score equal to or greater than 80% of the winning team’s score will award a Near Victory bonus worth two reward pips.
