Everything You Need to Know About Free Companies in FFXIV

By Nightmare2023-06-19

Most MMOs and other online games have clans and other social clubs providing a sense of community. Free Companies are the equivalent of them in FFXIV. This article will delve into what a Free Company is, how to join or start one, and its numerous benefits.

One of the best advantages of joining a free company in FFXIV is having access to resources, including Gil. But did you know you can also simply buy Gil on the Internet? Head over to our FFXIV Gil Store to find the best deals online!

What is a Free Company?

A Free Company is a player-formed and operated organization within FFXIV that serves as a hub for socializing, cooperation, and adventuring. While a player can join only 1 Free Company at a time, it is a hub for like-minded players to come together to pursue common goals, such as exploring Eorzea, teaming up for challenging quests, or simply enjoying each other's company.

How to Join or Start a Free Company?

To join a Free Company, you can either receive an invitation from an existing member or search for a Free Company that aligns with your interests on the official Community Finder. You can filter out your options by their server, size, affiliated Grand Company, and desired activities. Once you find a Free Company that you believe you will fit in, reach out to a member or the leader and express your interest in joining. They will typically guide you through the application process, which often involves a brief interview or a trial period.

However, if you already have enough friends to play the game with, creating your own Free Company is another path. To start a Free Company, you must be at least level 25, have three other players willing to join you, and already be a member of one of the 3 Grand Companies. Following is the process of creating a Free Company once you meet the aforementioned criteria:

1. Obtain a company petition from the OIC administrator in Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, or Gridania.

2. Fill out the petition with the company's name and tag.

3. Obtain three signatures from three other player characters in the same server. The player characters can be at any level, but they cannot be in a Free Company. Note: All signatories will become founding members of the Free Company after creation. They can leave after the process is complete.

4. Return to the OIC administrator with the petition and pay a Gil 15,000 gil registration fee.

What are the Benefits of Joining a Free Company?

Free Companies play a vital role in enhancing the FFXIV experience by providing a platform for players to connect, collaborate, and thrive together. Some benefits are limited to social interactions, resources, and other in-game perks. Following are some of the most recognizable benefits of joining a Free Company:

1. Communities and social interactions include opportunities to meet new friends and participate in in-game activities, including dungeons, trials, raids, and PvP battles.

2. Access a chest of resources, including gear and consumables, to aid your adventures. You can also pool resources together to fund and construct a Free Company Estate, which serves as a meeting place and offers additional benefits.

3. Buffs and Perks are known as "Company Actions," which provide temporary bonuses to members. These buffs can include experience point boosts, increased gathering or crafting rates, reduced teleportation fees, and much more.

Conclusion

Adventuring alone in Eorzea can be a little boring and difficult at times, so Free Companies play a vital role in enhancing the FFXIV experience by providing a platform for players to connect, collaborate, and thrive together. Whether you join an existing Free Company or start your own, the benefits are numerous, including a supportive community, increased access to resources, cooperative gameplay, and the chance to participate in exciting events. So, go ahead and find your Free Company to embark on epic adventures with fellow explorers in the realm of Eorzea.
