Top 5 Best Side Quests in Elden Ring

By Bosbone2022-08-29

When we speak about open-world games, one major part is the variety of opportunities this game offers, and Elden Ring is no different, as it offers so many things and quests outside the primary storyline. Side quests are generally a crucial component in an RPG because we can get some valuable rewards in return that we would miss if we only focus on the main story. In this article, we will keep an eye on the worthiest side quest in Elden Ring and all the rewards you can get if you finish them. So without further ado, here are some great side quests you can do, in no particular order.

Elden Ring Side Quests-1

Fia's Questline

Fia is a Deathbed Companion, and her questline is one of the most complicated ones you'll encounter on your journey in Elden Ring, which will take you all around the Lands Between and lead you to places you wouldn't normally visit. This quest is linked to another one of the game's many endings and is only second to Ranni's quest in terms of complexity. Fia's questline is tightly related to the game's lore and provides insight into the conflicts that shaped The Shattering, just like Ranni's requests were. So, if you want to see an ending from a different angle, you should definitely complete Fia's questline.

Elden Ring Side Quests-2

Rewards

Age of Duskborn (new ending)

Fia's Armor Set (Fia's Set is a collection of black clothing that is made from silky-soft material. She will drop her Set at the end of her questline)

D's Bell Bearing (a key item in Elden Ring)

Remembrance of the Lichdragon (Obtained from the Boss Lichdragon Fortissax). This item can be either sold for 30.000 Runes or exchanged for Fortissax's Lightning Spear or Death Lightning incantation.

Dung Eater Quest

One of the shortest side-quest in Elden Ring is the Dung Eater quest. The Dung Eater can be found rather early in the game, but you won't be allowed to begin his quest until you've obtained your first Seedbed Curse and arrived at the Royal Capital.

Elden Ring Side Quests-3

Although Dung Eater is in Roundtable Hold, you won't be able to enter his room until you reach Altus Plateau. Then, you will have to obtain the Sewer Goal Key. To do so, you must find one of the six Seedbed Curses. After that, go to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds, which is located under Leyndell, and tell him to leave his cell. Then return to Roundtable Hold, and in his room, you will discover a message. You will find out that your next step is to fight Dung Eater in Outer Moat. After the fight, go back to Roundtable Hold and speak to him again. Now you have two options, you can either collect five Seedbed Curses and return them to him in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds, or you can offer him the Seluvis Potion. Since this questline is a bit confusing, here, you can find the complete guide to Dung Eater's Quest.

Rewards

Omen Set (is an Armor Set obtained after killing Dung Eater. If you wear the complete Set, you can increase the damage of Omen Bairn and Regal Omen Bairn by 20%, or 5% per each piece of this Set)

Sword of Milos (is a Greatsword worn by Dung Eater. You can obtain it after you kill him in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. Due to its ability to restore FP, it is a good sword, especially for casters.)

Blessing of Despair (a new secret Ending)

Alexander the Iron Fist

Even the secondary characters in Elden Ring have fascinating backstories, which players may discover through finishing their side quests, and one of them is Iron Fist Alexander. This is a long and complicated side quest, but if you want to complete it entirely, you must also finish the Jar Bairn and Diallos quests. Those quests will be challenging, so you will need some special and rare Elden Ring items that you can easily find in our store.

Elden Ring Side Quests-4

How to start the quest

In the early stages of the game, Alexander will be near the Site of Grace Warmaster's Shack trapped on the ground and pleading for assistance. In order to start his quest, you must hit him to release him. You can choose to assist him or ignore him. However, helping Alexander is necessary if you want to complete the side quest. It's important to know that you should not smack him too frequently with powerful attacks, as this could kill him, and Celestial Dew cannot resurrect him.

Rewards

Alexander's Innards (You can acquire this key item after you won a duel against him, in Crumbling Farum Azula. You can give this item to Jar-Barin in Jarburg, and in return, you will get the Companion Jar Talisman)

Shard of Alexander (You will get this Talisman along with Alexander's Innards after you win the duel. This great talisman item can increase the attack power of Skills by 15%)

Exalted Flesh (This consumable item will increase your Physical Damage by 20% for 30 seconds.)

Warrior Jar Shard (You can get this item if you kill Alexander without finishing his questline. This Talisman will increase your attack power of skills by 10%)

Blaidd's Quest

Blaidd is one of the first NPCs you will meet in Elden Ring's Mistwood, and his questline is closely related to Ranni's, one of the game's core storylines. His quest needs to be finished before Ranni's, or else everything could go wrong, and you wouldn't be able to finish it. On the other hand, once you finish Ranni's quest, Blaidd will be at her Rise, but sadly, he will be your enemy, so you will have to kill him.

Elden Ring Side Quests-5

How to start Blaidd's quest

Like most Elden Ring's quests, starting it can be confusing. You can find Blaidd in the Mistwood Ruins, in eastern Limgrave, as you will hear a lone wolf howl because he is a Half-Wolf. Then, return to the Church of Elleh in Limgrave and talk with Kale, the merchant. He will tell you a few things about Blaidd, and additionally, he will teach you the Finger Snap gesture, which you will need to summon Blaidd. So return to his place again and to the gesture, and you can start the quest.

Rewards

Royal Greatsword is a great and interesting Colossal Sword, and in the right hands, it can be very useful. You can obtain it at the end of Ranni's quest, where you will have to kill Blaidd. Additionally, you will get his Armor Set too.

Blaidd's Set (as mentioned above, after you kill Blaidd, you will obtain his Armor set, although you will get everything except his Helm.)

Carian Filigreed Crest (a great Talisman that lowers FP cost of skills by 25%)

Ranni's Quest

Although Ranni's quest is optional, it is probably the longest and most important side quest in Elden Ring. By completing her quest, you can get one of the best endings in Elden Ring, as well as other great rewards, but doing so will require significant effort. To finish this complex quest, you will have to visit many areas in Lands Between, but don't worry, because here you can find a complete guide on how to finish Ranni's quest.

Rewards

Ranni's questline is definitely worth completing, as it will lead you to places you wouldn't normally go, show you some secret Bosses, and reward you with some unique items and a special ending. Here are some items worth mentioning.

Dark Moon Greatsword (This name should definitely be recognizable if you have played other FromSoftware games. The Dark Moon Greatsword is a fantastic, intelligence-based sword that you can obtain by finishing Ranni's quest. It is extremely powerful and a weapon you should definitely try out)

Mimic Tear Ashes (The Mimic Tear Ashes is a great Spirit that summons a Mimic Tear in a battle. This will be an exact replica of your character, granting it access to all of your equipment and enabling it to be incredibly helpful, no matter how difficult the situation is)

Age of Stars (a secret Ending)
