WoW Midnight Season 1 has begun. Then, how to gear up in Season 1? SoulSoBreeze shared a clear and efficient gearing path. Whether you're a casual player exploring world content or aiming for high-end progression, this breakdown will help you stay organized and avoid missing important opportunities early on.

How to Gear Fast in WoW Midnight Season 1

Week 1: Initial Gearing

At the start of the season, your biggest upgrades come from easily accessible "low-hanging fruit," primarily Veteran and Champion gear.

Key Priorities:

Focus on activities that grant weekly chests across zones, like Silvermoon Weekly, Stormarion Assault, and Legends of the Haranir—but note that only the first two chests from these activities reward Veteran gear. Also, earn Coffer Keys from these chests. (weekly cap applies, likely around six).

Focus on Prey System

Prey should be a central part of your early gearing:

  • Adds difficulty to outdoor content with elite targets.
  • Progress through Normal → Hard → Nightmare difficulty.
  • Nightmare unlock requires clearing multiple Hard-mode targets.

Rewards include Veteran gear, Coffer key shards, Reputation, and additional resources. Also, don't forget to defeat the World Boss for a chance at Champion gear.

Delves: Your Main Weekly Gear Source

Once you gather enough Coffer Keys, run Tier 8 Bountiful Delves. Each key = 1 piece of Champion gear (up to 6 per week). Here are two tips:

  • Use a Delver's Bounty in Tier 8+ Delves to obtain Hero-track gear (once per week).
  • Alternate between Prey and Delves to push higher difficulty.

Crafted Gear Strategy

Early in the season, you can craft powerful gear pieces. Recommended crafting slots include Bracers, Cloak, Belt, Boots, Rings, and Weapons. Avoid crafting tier-set slots early.

Important:

  • Research the best Embellishments for your class via community resources.
  • Expect to spend a decent amount of gold for max-quality crafts. If you're short on WoW Midnight gold and want to speed up your gearing process, consider using a trusted marketplace like MmoGah to quickly get the resources you need and stay ahead of the curve.

RNG Gearing Options

Dungeons:

  • Heroic and Mythic 0 dungeons are harder than preseason.
  • Mythic 0 resets daily, making it a strong farming option.

Raid Finder (LFR):

  • Requires item level 220
  • Drops Veteran gear
  • Includes useful trinkets and tier tokens

Raiding:

  • Normal and Heroic raids are your best consistent upgrades.
  • Combine with daily Mythic dungeon runs for maximum gains.

Week 1 Routine Summary

If you prefer a more relaxed playstyle:

  • Pick up weekly quests in Silvermoon
  • Check the Great Vault
  • Progress through Prey targets
  • Complete World Quests and Events
  • Run Bountiful Delves

Long-Term Goals:

  • Clear Tier 11 Delves
  • Max out Prey reputation
  • Customize hunts and complete high-end challenges

Week 2 and Beyond: Endgame Gearing

Let's shift into late-game progression. Starting in Week 2, gearing accelerates significantly with the opening of Mythic raids and Mythic Keystone dungeons.

Prey

At this stage, Veteran gear quickly becomes irrelevant, but the Prey system remains valuable for a while longer, as it continues to provide Champion gear from chests and Hero-track gear through the Great Vault. You should keep Prey in your weekly routine until its rewards are no longer meaningful upgrades. While doing Prey, you can choose to fully engage in world content for extra rewards like Coffer Keys or focus directly on your Prey target progression.

Delves

Delves continue to provide reliable upgrades:

  • Bountiful Delves (Tier 8) → Guaranteed Champion gear with keys
  • Delver's Bounty → Chance at Hero-track gear

They also offer Mythic crests, which are useful if you're not yet consistently farming higher Mythic+ keys. However, progressing deep into Delves takes time. If you don't plan to commit heavily to them, it's often more efficient to:

  • Focus on Prey + Tier 8 Delves
  • Maximize your Great Vault rewards
  • Transition out once Hero gear is no longer impactful.

Moving Into Mythic+

While Prey and Delves form a solid temporary endgame, they are ultimately stepping stones toward Mythic+ and raiding.

  • +7 Keys → Hero gear drops at the end of the dungeon
  • +10 Keys → Myth-track gear appears in the Great Vault
  • Running +7 keys is a strong early "sweet spot" until your gear allows you to consistently push +10s.

Crest System & Upgrades

Upgrading gear requires multiple crest tiers. Once you outgrow a crest tier:

  • You unlock discounted upgrade costs
  • You can trade useless crests for needed ones (30 → 10 conversion rate)

Tip: Always upgrade gear to max to avoid wasting crests later due to system overlap.

Low-Level Mythic+ Changes

A new system (Lindormi's Guidance) improves early Mythic+:

  • Enemies have reduced stats
  • Key targets are highlighted
  • Deaths don't penalize timer

Lindormi's Guidance is active up to Keystone Level 5, making it ideal for practice and casual endgame players.

Catalyst

  • Grants 1 charge initially, then +1 every 2 weeks
  • Best used on high item level gear

Week 2 Routine Summary

For players pushing max item level:

1. Outdoor world events and Raid Finder content are capped at Veteran gear, so you should run them early on until they no longer provide meaningful upgrades.

2. For dungeon progression, Mythic 0 is an option, but it's generally more efficient to jump straight into Mythic+ (starting from +2).

3. To secure consistent upgrades, run Nightmare Prey and Tier 8 Bountiful Delves for Champion gear. These also contribute toward earning Hero-track gear in the Great Vault

4. From there, your main focus shifts to Mythic+ progression:

  • +7 Keys → Hero gear drops at the end of the dungeon
  • +9 Keys → Mythic crests
  • +10 Keys → Myth-track gear in the Great Vault

Early on, completing even one high-level key for a Vault reward is valuable. However, as your gear improves, you should aim to complete up to 8 runs per week to maximize your chances of getting optimal Myth gear. Finally, pace yourself. If higher keys become too difficult, scale back, improve your gear, and progress at a steady rate. Your gearing speed ultimately depends on how patient—and how ambitious—you want to be.
