By Shirley Huang2018-11-05

No specific day was mentioned. Everyone with a World of Warcraft subscription will be able to access WoW Classic.

World of Warcraft Classic is actually a big topic at BlizzCon this year. It is a modern reinterpretation of the vanilla version of the legendary massively multiplayer online role-playing game, first released in 2004. The goal is to roll back to clock on the game’s lore and allow players to experience the beginning of the franchise all over again. However, fans will benefit from all of the back-end improvements and changes made to the game over the years.

Blizzard not only has a playable demo, but also announces WoW Classic summer release date. Too many wow fans eager to play WoW Classic. The demo is available for players who purchase the BlizzCon virtual tickets, giving Warcraft fans a way to try out the game without having to go all the way to Anaheim.

Blizzard revealed more about WoW Classic updated version in a BlizzCon panel on Nov 3 called “Restoring History: Creating WoW Classic, which is from the office site.

At BlizzCon 2018, WoW community got their first chance to experience WoW Classic for themselves. To help players understand what goes into bringing a Blizzard-quality experience to life, software engineers took the stage to share their insights.

Classic Gameplay in a Modern World

Classic Models and Animations

Blizzard will try to restored the models’ classic appearance, but found some models were broken. In some cases, textures were missing and do some research to find out how those items should appear and correct them within the system.

The original animations have also been restored, but WoW’s animation system is tightly coupled with its gameplay code.

Restoring Class Systems

Some class systems from the original game simply don’t have a modern equivalent. The class probably most affected by this is the hunter. The pet happiness and loyalty systems were removed a long time ago, as well as pet training and the ability to use both a ranged weapon and a melee weapon.

Rogue combo points posed another challenge, because the game’s modern resource system knows how to gain and spend combo points, but don’t know how to lose them when changing targets.
