Horadric Gems are among the most valuable seasonal upgrades in Diablo 4 Season 14, and a D4 Flawless Horadric Gem can provide a major boost to endgame builds. However, farming enough Gem Fragments to craft one normally requires a significant amount of time.
A new Escalation Nightmare Dungeon farming method allows players to collect millions of Gem Fragments extremely quickly. With the right dungeon modifiers, you can farm enough materials for a Flawless Horadric Gem in less than 1 hour.
This method is currently one of the fastest Horadric Gem farms in Season 14, but it may be changed in a future hotfix.
Required War Plans Setup
Before starting this farm, unlock the Branching Pathways node in the Nightmare Dungeon section of War Plans.
This node allows you to choose specific affixes for Escalation Nightmare Dungeon layers, making it possible to target specific Gem Fragment types.
For the best results, run this farm on Torment 12. Higher difficulty provides:
● More Gem Fragments from chests
● Better rewards from Dark Omen bosses
● Higher farming efficiency
How to Farm Flawless Horadric Gems Fast
Step 1: Start an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon
Enter an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon and progress through the first two layers. The first two layers are not important, so you can select any available affixes. Your goal is to prepare the third layer.
Step 2: Get the Best Third Layer Affixes
The third layer determines whether your farm is successful. You need two important modifiers:
1. Gem Reserve
Choose the Gem Reserve that matches the Horadric Gem you want to farm.
Examples:
● Amethyst Reserve → Farm Amethyst Fragments
● Skull Reserve → Farm Skull Fragments
● Other Gem Reserve modifiers → Farm different Horadric Gems
2. Dark Omen
Dark Omen is the second required modifier. This effect causes additional boss encounters during the dungeon. These bosses can include:
● The Butcher
● Axeful
● Other powerful enemies
Each Dark Omen boss drops around 750,000 Gem Fragments.
If the third layer does not contain both Gem Reserve and Dark Omen, abandon the current run and start a new Escalation Nightmare Dungeon until you get the correct combination.
Step 3: Clear the Third Layer Without Killing the Final Boss
Once you find the correct combination of Gem Reserve and Dark Omen, enter the third layer and start farming. Open every chest inside the dungeon. On Torment 12, each chest can provide up to around 270,000 Gem Fragments. The dungeon contains multiple chests, allowing you to quickly collect millions of fragments.
During the run, kill every Dark Omen boss that appears. Each boss gives another 750,000 Gem Fragments.
Step 4: Reset the Escalation Nightmare Dungeon
After clearing the third layer: do not kill the final boss. You need to:
1. Teleport back to town.
2. Enter a nearby normal dungeon.
3. Open your Sanctuary map.
4. Teleport back to the Escalation Nightmare Dungeon.
Entering a nearby normal dungeon is required to refresh the Escalation Nightmare Dungeon state. Without this step, the third layer will not reset, and you cannot reopen the chests.
After returning, the third layer will be available again with:
● The same Gem Reserve modifier
● The same Dark Omen modifier
● All chests refreshed
Step 5: Repeat the Farming Loop
Repeat the process:
1. Enter the reset third layer.
2. Open all chests.
3. Kill Dark Omen bosses.
4. Return to town.
5. Enter a normal dungeon.
6. Teleport back.
This creates an extremely efficient Gem Fragment farming loop.
Farming Results: Get a Flawless Horadric Gem in Under 1 Hour
With the correct third-layer modifiers, this method can generate millions of Gem Fragments in a short time.
During testing:
● 12.5 million Gem Fragments in 17 minutes
● Over 27 million Gem Fragments in 38 minutes
This is enough to craft the required Grand Gems, Horadric Gems, and eventually a Flawless Horadric Gem.
