The Elder Scrolls Online Season 2 arrives on October 21, 2026, with a new Tamriel Tome, Maarselok-themed rewards, and a growing roadmap of content updates. Titled “Echoes of Skyrim,” the new season comes as Greymoor and Markarth join the base game, while players look ahead to new dungeons, world events, and a Skyrim-themed zone planned for 2027. Kalam0n show you what to expect from Season 2, including its rewards, visual styles, and upcoming content.

The "Echoes of Skyrim" Announcement

Details have emerged regarding The Elder Scrolls Online’s Season 2 Tamriel Tome. Titled "Echoes of Skyrim," the new season arrives as the game prepares to roll the Greymoor chapter and Markarth DLC into the base game.

The thematic naming aligns with the broader development roadmap, which includes the introduction of dynamic Harrowstorms and large-scale world events across Skyrim zones in Update 52, scheduled for December. These updates appear intended to lead into the launch of a new Skyrim-themed zone teased for early 2027.

The Maarselok Thematic Shift

Despite the "Echoes of Skyrim" title, the Season 2 rewards feature a theme centered on Maarselok, the dragon associated with the Azure Blight. This selection marks a departure from the cohesive design seen in Season 1, where rewards were strictly tied to the Thieves Guild and the "Nowhere Vault" storyline.

The inclusion of Maarselok-themed items—traditionally associated with the Elsweyr or Scalebreaker updates—creates a noticeable disconnect from the current Skyrim-focused content and the upcoming solo dungeons. This shift suggests a possible reshuffling of development priorities or asset availability behind the scenes at Zenimax Online Studios.

Weapon Variants and Skill Styles

Season 2 continues the reward structure established in previous seasons, offering two versions of new weapon styles:

• Free Tome: Features the baseline models of the new weapon styles.

• Premium Tome: Provides "glowy" or enhanced visual variants of the same models.

While the glow effects offer a high-fantasy aesthetic, the "hyperlink blue" color palette may be polarizing for players who prefer more grounded gear. In addition to weapons, new Skill Styles are being introduced. The Premium Tome appears to include new visuals for the Dragonknight’s Claw, the Vampire spammable, and the Dawnbreaker ultimate. The Free Tome also includes a skill style involving a ball of energy, though the specific ability remains unconfirmed.

The seasonal Skin follows the trend of high-intensity visual changes, turning character skin green with neon spiderweb patterns. These designs remain highly specialized, catering to specific character aesthetics rather than general utility.

Armor, Mounts, and Technical Updates

The armor motifs for the season are split between two distinct styles:

• Base Rewards: An Elsweyr-inspired "Sunspire" look featuring sandals.

• Premium Rewards: A heavy Maarselok-themed set designed to match the glowy weapon variants.

The featured mount is a large mammoth adorned with Maarselok-inspired tattoos, horns, and armor. Additionally, a new "tattered witch robes" costume is included in the Premium Tome. As with previous costumes, these remain single-piece items rather than individual style pages, limiting customization options for players who wish to mix and match specific pieces like hats or leggings.

The Premium Plus Tome highlights the game’s new "fur tech" with a high-resolution cat pet. Following the precedent set by the Season 0 costume and the Season 1 corgi, this reward serves as a luxury collectible rather than a gameplay necessity.

Content Outlook for 2027

The lack of alignment between the "Echoes of Skyrim" title and the Maarselok rewards comes during a period of transition for the game. While solo dungeons are arriving soon, the community is awaiting further details on the mid-scale PvP zone, the new Trial, and the long-anticipated Warden refresh.

With new dungeons, Trials, and world events on the horizon, players may want to stock up on ESO coins to prepare for gear upgrades, consumables, and other expenses as new content arrives.

The latter half of 2026 has seen a slower pace of content delivery, potentially impacted by industry-wide layoffs and shifting project timelines. With the "Nowhere Vault" and "High Seas" storylines concluding, the upcoming January update will be a critical window for Zenimax to deliver the new Skyrim-adjacent zone and the promised dynamic world events.
