Elden Ring Tarnished Edition adds several new weapons, shields, armor sets, and three Torrent appearances, most of which are detailed in our Tarnished Edition new weapons & armor guide. Most of them can be collected on an existing character, so you do not need to restart as the Heavy Knight or Idus Knight.
This guide gives you the shortest practical route to every new item, including the nearest landmark, prerequisites, and exact pickup, purchase, or invasion method.
⚔️ How to Get Hefty Scimitar
Location: Limgrave → Mistwood → Fort Haight West Site of Grace → Ride north → Nomadic Merchant
Prerequisite: None
How to Get: Buy for 2,400 Runes
Fast Route: Fast travel to Fort Haight West in eastern Limgrave. Mount Torrent and ride almost straight north through Mistwood until you reach the Nomadic Merchant.
Speak to him and buy the Hefty Scimitar for 2,400 Runes. No boss, quest, or dungeon is required, so this is one of the earliest new weapons you can collect.
⚔️ How to Get Idus Sword
Location: Liurnia of the Lakes → Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace → Ride northwest → Large tree → Corpse beside the tree
Prerequisite: Reach Liurnia
How to Get: Loot from a corpse
Fast Route: Start from the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace and ride northwest through the trees. Continue until you reach a large tree overlooking the surrounding area.
Check the corpse beside the tree to pick up the Idus Sword.
There is no boss or quest requirement. The sword can be collected even if you did not choose Idus Knight as your starting class.
⚔️ How to Get Reverse-Bladed Sword
Location: Roundtable Hold → Twin Maiden Husks
Prerequisite: Unlock Roundtable Hold
How to Get: Buy for 1,000 Runes
Once Roundtable Hold is available, speak to the Twin Maiden Husks.
The Reverse-Bladed Sword is sold directly for 1,000 Runes. No Bell Bearing, boss kill, or additional quest is needed.
⚔️ How to Get Reed Great Katana
Location: Dragonbarrow, Caelid → Fort Faroth Site of Grace → Ride northwest → Giant skull/rock formation → Climb with Torrent → Pick up at the top
Prerequisite: Reach Dragonbarrow
How to Get: World pickup
Fast Route: Fast travel to Fort Faroth and ride northwest toward the huge skull-like formation near Greyoll.
Approach the lower side of the formation and use Torrent's double jump to climb the sloped rocks. Keep moving upward until you reach the top.
The Reed Great Katana is a ground pickup there.
You do not need to clear Fort Faroth or defeat Greyoll, so ride in, climb up, grab the weapon, and leave.
⚔️ How to Get Leontiel's Greatsword
Location: Caelid → Starscourge Radahn's Arena → Ride north toward War-Dead Catacombs → Knight Leontiel invasion area
Prerequisite: Defeat Starscourge Radahn
How to Get: Defeat Knight Leontiel
After defeating Starscourge Radahn, return to his battlefield.
Fast Route: Mount Torrent and ride north across the arena toward the War-Dead Catacombs. Before you reach the dungeon, Knight Leontiel will invade.
Defeat Leontiel to receive Leontiel's Greatsword and the full Leontiel armor set in the same encounter. You only need to complete this invasion once. If you would rather skip the longer collection routes, you can also buy Tarnished Edition new items, including new weapons, shields, and armor from Tarnished Edition.
⚔️ How to Get Golden Order Flail
Location: Leyndell, Royal Capital → Erdtree Sanctuary → West exit → Elevator down → Stairs → Radagon statue → Cast Law of Regression → Walk forward
Prerequisite: Law of Regression, 37 Intelligence to cast it, and Leyndell must still be the Royal Capital
How to Get: Defeat The Noble Broken Mask. This is the easiest item in the guide to miss.
First obtain the Golden Order Principia and use it to learn Law of Regression. The incantation requires 37 Intelligence to cast.
Fast Route: Start at the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace. Leave through the west side, take the elevator down, and continue down the stairs until you reach the large Radagon statue.
Stand near the message in front of the statue and cast Law of Regression. After the statue changes, move forward to trigger the invasion by The Noble Broken Mask.
Defeat him to receive the Golden Order Flail, Broken Gold Mask, and Gold Tattoo armor pieces.
Do this before Leyndell becomes the Ashen Capital, because the encounter requires the original Royal Capital version.
🛡️ How to Get Silver Grooved Shield
Location: Northern Liurnia → Bellum Church → Down the church ramp → Turn right → Nomadic Merchant
Prerequisite: Reach Northern Liurnia
How to Get: Buy from the merchant
Fast Route: Fast travel to Bellum Church. From inside the church, go down the ramp and turn right. Continue a short distance until you reach the nearby Nomadic Merchant.
He sells the Silver Grooved Shield together with the Silver Grooved armor pieces.
No fight or quest is required.
🛡️ How to Get Ritual Thrusting Shield
Location: Siofra River → Deep Siofra Well → Surface lift → Caelid canyon → Great-Jar → Caelid Colosseum → Ground pickup inside
Prerequisite: Reach Deep Siofra Well
How to Get: World pickup. This shield takes longer to reach than to collect.
Progress through Siofra River until you can use the lift leading up to Deep Siofra Well. From there, emerge into Caelid and ride north through the canyon toward the huge Great-Jar.
Several golems can fire powerful greatbow shots along the route, so staying on Torrent is faster than stopping to fight.
Pass the Great-Jar, enter the Caelid Colosseum, and pick up the Ritual Thrusting Shield from the ground inside.
🥋 How to Get Silver Grooved Armor Set
Location: Northern Liurnia → Bellum Church → Down the ramp → Turn right → Nomadic Merchant
Prerequisite: Reach northern Liurnia
How to Get: Buy all four pieces
Use the same route as the Silver Grooved Shield.
The merchant sells the Silver Grooved Helm, Silver Grooved Armor, Silver Grooved Gauntlets, and Silver Grooved Greaves separately.
The chest costs 1,500 Runes, while the other three pieces cost 1,000 Runes each. If you are short on currency for merchant purchases and upgrades, you can get more Elden Ring runes before continuing the collection route.
Buying the set lets any character use the Idus Knight armor without restarting.
🥋 How to Get Steel Armor Set
Location: Weeping Peninsula → Southwest → Isolated Merchant's Shack → Isolated Merchant
Prerequisite: Reach the Weeping Peninsula
How to Get: Buy all four pieces
Travel to the Isolated Merchant's Shack in the southwest of the Weeping Peninsula.
The merchant is beside the Site of Grace, so once you reach the shack, there is no extra route to follow.
Buy the Steel Helm, Steel Armor, Steel Gauntlets, and Steel Greaves. The chest costs 1,500 Runes, and the other pieces cost 1,000 Runes each.
🥋 How to Get Leontiel's Armor Set
Location: Caelid → Radahn's Arena → Ride north toward War-Dead Catacombs → Knight Leontiel invasion
Prerequisite: Defeat Starscourge Radahn
How to Get: Defeat Knight Leontiel
The armor is obtained at the same time as Leontiel's Greatsword.
Return to Radahn's arena, ride north toward the War-Dead Catacombs, and defeat Knight Leontiel when the invasion triggers.
The invasion drops the weapon and Leontiel's full armor set together, so you do not need to collect separate pieces afterward.
🥋 How to Get Gold Tattoo Set & Broken Gold Mask
Location: Leyndell, Royal Capital → Erdtree Sanctuary → Elevator → Radagon statue → Law of Regression → Noble Broken Mask invasion
Prerequisite: Same requirements as the Golden Order Flail
How to Get: Defeat The Noble Broken Mask
Follow the same route used for the Golden Order Flail.
Cast Law of Regression in front of the Radagon statue, move forward after the statue changes, and defeat The Noble Broken Mask.
The encounter rewards the Broken Gold Mask and Gold Tattoo armor pieces together with the flail.
Again, complete this before Leyndell changes into the Ashen Capital.
🐎 How to Get All New Torrent Skins
Tarnished Edition also adds three Spectral Steed appearances. After collecting your first one, you can change Torrent's appearance from a Site of Grace.
Tree Sentinel Torrent Skin
Location: Stormveil Castle → Godrick's boss arena → Throne room → Turn right → Short passage → Chest
Prerequisite: Defeat Godrick the Grafted
How to Get: Open the chest
After defeating Godrick, enter the throne room beyond the arena.
Instead of taking the normal path left, turn right into the short side passage. Open the chest to obtain the Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Regalia.
Carian Silver Torrent Skin
Location: Liurnia → Caria Manor → Three Sisters → Ranni's Rise → Site of Grace → Chest behind furniture
Prerequisite: Clear Caria Manor and reach Three Sisters
How to Get: Open the chest
Travel to Ranni's Rise and activate the Site of Grace inside.
Turn around from the Grace and break the furniture blocking the nearby chest. Open it to obtain the Carian Silver Spectral Steed Regalia.
Funereal Knight Torrent Skin
Location: Altus Plateau → Hermit Merchant's Shack → Ride southeast → Graveyard → Ground pickup
Prerequisite: Reach Altus Plateau
How to Get: World pickup
Start from the Hermit Merchant's Shack and ride southeast into the nearby graveyard.
Continue through the graves while avoiding the skeleton enemies. The Funereal Knight Spectral Steed Regalia is a glowing ground pickup in the area.
Final Thoughts
Most of the new Tarnished Edition gear is easy to collect once you know the nearest Site of Grace and the correct route. The merchant items and world pickups can be obtained quickly, while Leontiel and The Noble Broken Mask require specific progression steps.
The one reward you should not leave too late is the Golden Order Flail and Gold Tattoo Set. Get them before Leyndell becomes the Ashen Capital, or you may miss that encounter on the current playthrough.
