As we know, the dungeons and raids in WoW are played hundreds of times by each player over the expansion’s course, and they’re expected to be fun and interesting each time.
WoW patch 8.0 introduces various new adventures for players to undertake, including Island Expeditions. It is one of two exciting new instanced game modes. It is a unique PvP experience where two opposing teams of three land on uncharted islands and race to gather Azerite, the new resource key to the Alliance-Horde conflict.
Unlocking the Expeditions
Island expeditions are a new form of content added in Battle for Azeroth, a 3v3 battle against the enemy faction, with high replay ability.
Island expeditions will be unlocked after completing the War Campaign at max level. This is an account-wide unlock, so your alts can level up via Island Expeditions.
15-20 minutes to complete;
NPCs will use an advanced AI designed just for this new feature;
Players will collect Azerite and mystery treasures;
Islands will have 4 possible starting points;
Islands will be somewhat randomized with a small story being told each time you visit the same location;
There could be a thousand possible scenarios with the available islands and the mix of puzzle.
PvP - This option allows players to compete against 3 opposite factions’ other players.
Players can use an Expedition table in Zuldazar Harbor (Horde) or Boralus Harbor (Alliance), with either alone or group to attend Normal, Heroic, Mythic and PvP difficulties. Island Expeditions are three-player encounters. Although the game is not limited to players’ lineup, if you want to overcome the opponents and acquire 6,000 Azerite, you should cooperate closely with teammates.
Upon landing on the Island, you should Disembark & search the island, and in search of as much Azerite as you can. There are many ways to acquire it, including killing monsters, opening treasure chests, defeating the opposing factions or mining the nodes that appear around the island.
The Brand-New Opponents
Maybe you want to own the island by yourself, but the fact is not such. There are others who want to get their hands on the Azerite. When you attend Normal, Heroic, or Mythic difficulty, you have a chance to meet a rival team of three Horde or Alliance “Advanced NPCs.” These clever rivals will move around and take advantage of the island just as the real players.
Each group of opponents has different tactical personalities, some opponents are more aggressive, and some opponents are more defensive. All they will seek to claim 6,000 Azerite before you and take home victory. You never know which team of opponents you’ll face, so be prepared to use all your character’s abilities to overcome them.
If you choose PvP difficulty, you’ll face the players who come from opposing faction to see which team will triumph.
Unlike the dungeon’s static experience, Island Expeditions are a seven-layer dip of dynamic systems.
It will make the wildly different experiences each time you play.
There’s plenty to explore on this uncharted land, and each island features lots of dynamically generated elements that provide a variety of challenges to overcome.
Except the Horde and the Alliance interested in the Azerite, you’ll find that there are many enemies seeking to claim it for their own. As you explore the island, you’ll engage in smaller encounters, such as a village of quilboar, water elementals guarding treasure chests full of Azerite, rare and elite monsters. When you explore the island, you’ll encounter random events from time to time.
To overcome these encounters, you should keep an eye out for beneficial shrines, food or objects that can aid you. You will have more chance to collect more Azerite to your count and claim victory with some tactics and coordination.
With extensive combinations of enemies, power-ups, spawn locations and more, you’ll never know what you’ll come across in your next Island Expedition.
The more Azerite you collect, the more Artifact Power to empower your Heart of Azeroth on the way to adventure.
