The Pet Battle Bonus Event is tripling your pet leveling experience on this weekend. Winning several PvP Pet Battles as a part of a quest during the event awards the player with a fresh new Ultimate Battle-Training Stone that instantly gain level upon level.
This got us wondering which we would choose from our favorite battle pets if we could only use one of the best.
Battle Pet Families and Abilities
Each pet is categorized into a group or family type. There are 10 pet families: Aquatic, Beast, Critter, Dragonkin, Elemental, Flying, Humanoid, Magic, Mechanical, and Undead.
Every pet family has its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as a passive bonus. You can play stronger attacks against pets who are vulnerable to them, and defend against pets whose attacks are strong against your pet type.
Strong vs. Weak
Passive Pet Family Bonuses
Each family conveys a passive bonus to pets of that type. These bonuses can have a significant impact on the outcome of a Pet Battle under the right circumstances.
Aquatic: Harmful damage over time effects are reduced by 50% on Aquatic pets.
Beast: Beats deal 25% extra damage below half health.
Critter: Critters are immune to roots, stuns, and sleep effects.
Dragonkin: Dragons deal 50% additional damage on the next round after bringing a target's health below 50%.
Elemental: Elementals ignore negative weather effects.
Flying: Flying creatures gain 50% extra speed while above 50% health.
Humanoid: Humanoids recover 4% of their maximum health if they dealt damage this round.
Magic: Magic pets cannot be dealt more than 35% of their maximum health in one attack.
Mehcanical: Mechanical pets come back to life once per battle, returning to 20% health.
Undead: Undead pets return to life immortal for one round when killed.
Ability Strengths and Weaknesses
Pet abilities are categorized by type just like general families. Under most conditions, a companion will have spells that correspond with its family type, but some pets will have unique abilities that fall under a different group.
For instance, the Azure Whelpling belong to the Dragonkin family. However, it has Beast, Magic, and Elemental abilities in addition to a Dragonkin attack. Different attacks are strong and weak against different family types. Having a diverse spell selection might increase your chances of being prepared with a strong attack against an opposing team.

Here are some answers to questions about the favorite battle pet
Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling (breed 4) - really cute and powerful. He takes out Flowing Spirit Tamer's Marley without taking any damage.
Clockwork Gnome is great. He was my first leveling main too.
Strand Crawler. Stays alive forever!
Graves, so I wouldn't have to play a game I'm not interested in to get him.
Here's a baker's dozen of players' favorites: Anubisath Idol, Chrominius, Clockwork Gnome, Darkmoon Tonk, Emerald Proto-Whelp, Gilnean Raven, Graves, Kun-Lai Runt, Lil' Ragnaros, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, Pandaren Water Spirit, Unborn Val'kyr, Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen,.
