The official has announced that The Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas website had been updated on Friday, July 29, 2016, and SE announces the return of the art and costume contests with great excitement! The official says: “The creativity of our players never ceases to astonish us, and we’re expecting this year’s Fan Festival to showcase the tremendous talent possessed by our community.” There are some great prizes on tap this year, so prep your drawing board, sewing machine, or whatever crafting tool you need to make a masterpiece! Let’s see more details in the following parts.
ART Contest
Artists around the realm, whether they create drawings, paintings, sculptures, or other crafts, will be cordially invited to showcase their talents at Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas! Design your best representation of FINAL FANTASY XIV, the realm of Eorzea, its peoples or landscapes, or anything found within that strikes a creative chord and prepare to reveal it to your fellow fans! If your work is chosen, you just might earn yourself some amazing prizes!
The Art Contest is separated into three categories:
1. “The Epic Showdown!”: art depicting a battle scene from FINAL FANTASY XIV
2. “Life in Eorzea”: art depicting non-combat activities, an adventurous scene or role-play from FINAL FANTASY XIV
3. “Crafted Physical Entries”: physical hand-crafted (non-drawn) art depicting something related to FINAL FANTASY XIV
When the official receives all qualifying entries, they will choose up to 45 finalists to display at their Art Gallery FF2016 in LV and also show on the live stream! All the FF2016 in LV attendees will have the chance to choose the three grand prize winners from among the eligible finalists by popular vote.
Note: Any entrants must be legal residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec), and over the age of 13.
The Contest Entry Period is Friday, July 29, 2016 at 12:01 a.m. (Pacific Time) through Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time)
The FINAL FANTASY XIV Development and Operations Teams will select up to 45 finalists based on creativity and overall execution according to the criteria listed above. Las Vegas Fan Festival attendees will select the ultimate winners from among the eligible finalists based on their own voting criteria at the event.
Winners will be announced on or around Friday, October 28, 2016.
Three (3) Grand Prize winners, one (1) from each of the three (3) categories listed above, will each be awarded a Fan Festival prize pack consisting of the new FFXIV book of lore signed by director and producer Naoki Yoshida, a FFXIV Figure Pack consisting of miniature figures of Y’shtola, Alphinaud, Tataru and Ifrit, and a brand-new in-game item (to be revealed in the future).
All finalists chosen to have their work displayed at the show will receive a brand-new in-game item (to be revealed in the future).
Costume Contest
FFXIV Fan Festival 2014 in Las Vegas boasted some of the most amazing costumes from the realm of Eorzea ever seen, and the official is excited to announce that the contest is making a return for Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas! They’re looking forward to seeing the high-caliber of creativity and talent adventurers never stop impressing us with. There are great prizes and fun opportunities to show off your costumes, so come dressed to the nines!
Attendees entering the Costume Contest need to check in on-site and be evaluated by our esteemed judging panel. Of all the entries, Square Enix shall select up to 20 qualifying finalists to present themselves on stage for a chance to win great prizes!

Selection
The Costume Contest judges will select winners based on overall creativity and quality.
Square Enix will announce the winners on or around October 14, 2016.

The Costume Contest judges shall select up to twenty (20) finalists. Each finalist will receive a brand-new in-game item (to be revealed later), as well as an in-game item of their choice from among the options below:

From these twenty finalists, the Costume Contest judges shall select five winners to receive amazing prizes at the Las Vegas Fan Festival, starting with three runners-up, then one second place winner, and finally the grand prize winner!
