PoE Builds 3.19: Saqawal's Twister Inquisitor Build

By Nancy G2022-10-11

Welcome to Omnompanda's Twister build, which is written down by Nancy, a writer from mmogah.com. This build uses Saqawal's Flock to create an engine of pure wind and noise, auto-casting infinite Twisters in its wake as it breezes through maps.

How Does this Work?

A lot of thought has gone into this monstrosity. Saqawal's Flock is a unique helmet that triggers the skill Twister whenever you gain Avian's Might or Avian's Flight. We get these special alternating buffs by using Aspect of the Avian, which we can beast craft onto our shield. And so it begins. We use both Saqawal's Talons and Saqawal's Winds, as they provide a reduction of up to 2 seconds of duration to Avian's Might and Flight. After that, we take as much reduced skill effect duration as possible so that the buff durations of Avian's Flight and Might are extremely short, causing Twister to trigger at a speed that is frankly irresponsible. In case that isn't enough hot air, we can cast Tornado on tougher enemies, and we're running Righteous Fire to incinerate anything else that manages to get close. Omnompanda has created a build that is equal parts hilarious, unique, and powerful.

Offence

There are quite a few tricks we have to use to make this work. Let's start with Twister. To get that huge reduction in skill effect duration required to trigger the skill frequently, we'll need to use two Timeclasp rings, the Warped Timepiece amulet, as well as significant investment in our tree.

We'll also support Aspect of the Avian on our shield with Swift Affliction and a high-quality Less Duration gem, with their quality, pushed up even further by a special gem quality craft on our shield. With all this together, it's Twister Town 24/7.

So what's even cooler than Twisters? Extra spicy Twisters. Omnompanda is converting all of our physical Twister damage to fire. First, we'll grab the Avatar of Fire Keystone, which converts half of our physical damage to fire, and then we'll equip the Vulconus dagger to convert the other half. It also gives us a nice boost to our crit chance. But we're not done with Vulconus yet. We can take advantage of the mod that increases fire damage against bleeding enemies by using Summon Reaper to inflict bleeding for us. We can even make use of the flat fire damage on the dagger. Since we're playing Inquisitor, we can pick up Battlemage, which gives us added spell damage equal to the damage of our main hand weapon. All in all, Vulconus is a fantastic value for our build.

Twister has another interesting property. It's a very particular kind of projectile. Twisters always pierce, and they frequently "forget" everything they've hit. This means a twister can hit targets repeatedly as it passes through them. The slower the projectile, the more times it can hit something. This means we can support it with Lesser Multiple Projectiles while clearing and Slower Projectiles when fighting bosses for a significant damage boost. Also, since Tornado gains damage when infused with projectiles, we can feed it with numerous twisters. Thematically and mechanically, this is what we call very cool. Lastly, we can stack a lot of extra projectile damage from cluster jewels on the tree.

Deffence

There's a fleshy mortal in the middle of all that chaos, so how do we keep them alive? We've got a lot of uniques here, so we have to carefully select the rest of our gear to cover our resists, life, and other defences. For example, our flasks are primarily defensive, each crafted with a chance to restore charges on crit. Since we have so many twisters with a high crit chance, we can keep our flasks topped up easily.

Omnompanda has also leaned into a hybrid life and energy shield defensive model using the ascendancy passive Pious Path for extra regeneration of both. This build combos well with the Corrupted Soul keystone from the Glorious Vanity Timeless Jewel. This keystone allows half of the non-chaos damage we take through our energy shield, but it gives us a big boost to it, effectively mitigating damage by spreading it across both our life and shield.

One of the auras we're using is Vitality, which means we can use the Watcher's Eye mod that grants us life gain per enemy hit when using that aura. Our trusty twisters come in handy again, hitting so frequently that this provides a lovely boost to our sustain.

Finally, because of our greatly reduced skill duration, we can use Lightning Warp as our movement skill. It almost becomes an instant teleport and the perfect get-out-of-jail-free card. This Twister Templar is great fun to play, blowing through maps like a holy wind, leaving destruction in its wake.
