With New World Aeternum Season 10 expected to launch around October 7, many players are wondering how to best prepare. Since expansions often bring unpredictable changes, this guide provides practical advice for both new and veteran players to get ready before the update.

New World Season 10

1. Leveling and Main Story Quest

For new or returning players, the top priority is to get at least one character to level 65.

  • You don’t need to rush through the game in a single day, but having a level 65 character before Season 10 will make accessing new content much easier.
  • The Main Story Quest (MSQ) is the fastest path to leveling. It’s recommended to progress through Elysian Wilds, since the ending cutscene sets up Season 10’s vampire and werewolf theme.
  • While completing all MSQ chapters may not be strictly required for Season 10, following the storyline provides both context and preparation for upcoming content.

2. Weapon Mastery

Before the season starts, invest time in leveling your favorite or most useful weapons.

  • You don’t need every weapon at level 20, but aim to fully level those with strong synergy or ones you personally enjoy.
  • Use double XP boosts or farm in areas such as Great Cleave and Restless Shore mines and camps for efficient weapon leveling.
  • Having multiple fully leveled weapons gives you flexibility for new builds once Season 10 launches.

3. Gear and Gold

At this stage, avoid overspending on perfect gear:

  • With the level cap likely increasing to 70, a major gear reset is expected.
  • Most gear, except artifacts, will likely become obsolete.
  • All you need now is a functional set of gear to help you progress—there’s no reason to push for full 725 score.
  • Gold is the safest resource in New World, so focus on saving and accumulating it rather than splurging on gear.

4. Storage and Inventory Cleanup

Now is the perfect time to clean up your storage:

  • Salvage gear you won’t use in the near future.
  • This clears space and prevents you from holding onto items that will likely be invalidated after the reset.

5. Trade Skills and Materials

Trade skills and materials come with significant uncertainty:

  • It’s not yet confirmed whether the cap will increase to 300. If it does, pre-farming materials could be worthwhile; if not, it may waste resources.
  • Stonecutting is worth leveling, as new resources tied to gem crafting and perk swapping are confirmed.
  • Arcana is another safe bet since potions and consumables will always be in demand, regardless of economy shifts.
  • Prismatics are a high-risk gamble—they could become worthless or the most valuable mats in the game.
  • Safer storage options include Mythril and Orichalcum, which will likely play a role in crafting new high-tier gear.

6. Artifacts

Artifacts are expected to remain valuable in Season 10:

  • Whether it’s Crescent Wave or Odo, these powerful items will retain importance.
  • Collect as many artifacts as possible now, even if you can’t use them immediately—they could be critical once the new meta is revealed.

7. PvP Preparation

  • PvP currency (Salt Vials) and track rewards will remain relevant, so keep them stored.
  • Coconuts and Deloines from PvP zones may also be upgraded into new gear sources in Season 10.
  • Outpost Rush reward boxes may lose value since they are capped at level 65, but it’s possible they could still yield shards or materials after salvage. Keep a modest stockpile.

8. High-Risk Bets

Some players like to gamble on niche resources that might tie into the vampire/werewolf theme:

  • Silver ingots (for werewolves), garlic (for vampires), or Void Ore.
  • These are highly speculative and lack evidence. If you do stockpile them, do so lightly and treat it as a gamble.

9. Summary and Recommendations

  • Must Do: Reach level 65, complete MSQ up to Elysian Wilds, level key weapons, save gold, and collect artifacts.
  • Optional: Stockpile basic mats like Mythril/Orichalcum, and keep PvP currencies and unique items.
  • Be Cautious: Prismatics and high-end gear investments carry big risks.
  • Avoid: Overspending on best-in-slot gear, since a soft reset is almost guaranteed.

Season 10 will likely introduce a higher level cap, new set bonus gear system, trade skill changes, and vampire/werewolf-themed content. Instead of grinding endlessly for gear that may soon be obsolete, focus on smart preparation—stockpiling gold, securing artifacts, and keeping your options open.
