With FFXIV Patch 7.4 “Into the Mist” approaching and the Arcadion: Heavyweight Savage raid set to release on January 6, 2026, it’s time for crafters and gatherers to start preparing. This guide, shared by Tenelen The Scrub on his YouTube video, breaks down everything you’ll want to collect ahead of the update — from stat essence flowers and crafting reagents to Aethersands, scripts, and other materials likely to see high demand once the new recipes arrive.

Whether you’re aiming to craft the newest raid gear on day one, sell high-demand consumables for profit, or support your raid group with food, potions, and meld-ready equipment, here’s a full breakdown of how to prepare before Patch 7.4 hits.

FFXIV Patch 7.4 Gathering & Crafting Preparation Guide

Prepping Your Materials

1. Stat Essence Flowers

Start by gathering the key essence flowers used to create the stat-based crafting materials:

  • Windsbalm Bay Leaf
  • Eucalyptus
  • Wind Parsley
  • Kozama’uka Chamomile
  • Pearl Grass

These flowers are used to produce the Gemsap essences that power your crafted gear — such as Gemsap of Intelligence for caster equipment or Chamomile for dexterity-based gear. You’ll need one legendary node material, a water source, the corresponding flower, and an Aethersand to create each essence.

These materials have been the foundation of crafting since the expansion’s launch, and you’ll continue to use them for new Grade 4 Gemsaps in Patch 7.4.

2. Potions, Food and Consumables

Potions will once again play a vital role in raid progression. Focus on those that boost Strength, Dexterity, Mind, and Intelligence — the primary combat stats. While Windsbalm (Vitality) potions see less demand, you’ll still want a supply of the others (Eucalyptus, Wind Parsley, Kozama’uka Chamomile, and Pearl Grass), both for personal use and early patch sales. Consider crafting some Grade 3 potions as a budget option for early progression, as they’re cheaper and easier to produce.

For potions, expect a structure similar to previous patches: Aethersand + Essence Flower + a Water component (often Sanctified or Yak T’el Spring Water). If you want to be extra prepared, craft a few lower-tier alkahests and keep older-grade essences on hand — they’re often reused in updated recipes.

Be sure to stockpile Sanctified Water — it’s highly likely that the new Grade 4 potions will require it. You can craft Sanctified Water using Yak T’el Spring Water and Tumbleclaw Weeds, so it’s simple and efficient to prepare ahead of time. Make them high-quality. Always make your pre-patch materials high-quality to save crafting time later. If you don’t have time to craft them yourself, you can easily purchase high-quality consumables from MmoGah’s FFXIV Items page — safe, fast, and reliable.

New food and tinctures will arrive with 7.4, though exact ingredients remain unpredictable. Food materials are often pulled from random nodes across expansions — from Endwalker to Shadowbringers. However, commonly recurring ingredients include Salts, Oils, Peppermint, Lemonette, Tomatoes and Bell Peppers. Food crafting is one of the best ways to profit early in a patch, so it’s smart to stockpile a variety of cooking staples.

3. Aethersands and Condensed Solutions

The next essential material is Levinchrome Aethersand, gathered from botany, mining, or fishing. You’ll need hundreds of these, as they’re used in nearly every new recipe — gear, potions, and food alike. You’ll also need Condensed Solution, which can be obtained from Orange Scrip Vendors, Culinarian collectibles (such as Rarefied Tacos de Carne Asada), and Tribal quests or exploration missions (less efficient).

These are required for every crafted gear piece, so stock up based on how many full sets you plan to make.

4. Level 98 Crafting Materials

Prepare these existing endgame materials ahead of the patch:

  • Claro Walnut Lumber
  • Thunderyards Silk
  • Black Star
  • Ra’kaznar Ingot
  • Gargantua Leather
  • Magnesia Whetstones
  • Among these, Thunderyards Silk, Gargantua Leather, and Ra’kaznar Ingot will likely see the highest demand, as they’re used in large quantities for new gear. The others — Black Star for metallic jewelry and Claro Walnut Lumber for weapon hilts or wooden accessories — are also worth keeping a few hundred units of.

What to Expect in Patch 7.4

Once Patch 7.4 releases, several new systems and materials will come into play:

New Legendary Nodes: These will be added to existing regional folklore books, so ensure you’ve purchased them in advance.

No New Master Recipe Books: Level 12 Master Recipes will continue to be used, so make sure you have all of them before the patch (1,200 Purple Crafters’ Scrips each).

Tombstone Changes:

  • The current Mathematics tomestone will become the uncapped tome (replacing Helometries).
  • A new weekly capped tome will be introduced.
  • Mathematics can be exchanged with Zircon in Radz-at-Han for crafting components (20 per item).

Make sure you’ve capped your 2,000 Mathematics before the patch, so you can immediately purchase the new components once 7.4 drops. You’ll then combine them with new folklore materials to craft the latest endgame gear.

Final Thoughts

Patch 7.4 is shaping up to be a smooth, predictable update for crafters and gatherers. By preparing these materials in advance — especially Levinchrome Aethersand, Condensed Solutions, and Sanctified Water — you’ll be perfectly positioned to jump into the new crafting content the moment it goes live. Efficient prep now means faster profits and less downtime later, whether you’re crafting your own gear or supplying raiders rushing into the new Savage tier.
