Warlock is one of the strongest classes to watch in Diablo 4 Season 15. This build focuses on Apocalypse, using Umbral Chains to build stacks quickly before unleashing a powerful burst. It works well for farming, bosses, Pit progression, and other endgame content.
Note: This setup is based on the Season 15 PTR and may need minor adjustments after final balance changes.
Best Skills
Use these six skills:
Apocalypse: Your main damage skill. Build Apocalypse stacks before casting it. Against normal packs, use it earlier to keep farming speed high. Against bosses and elites, wait for high stacks and your main buffs before using it.
Umbral Chains: Your main stack-building skill. Spam it between Apocalypse casts to build stacks, maintain pressure, and prepare the next burst quickly.
Sigil of Chaos: Use Sigil of Chaos before important Apocalypse casts to strengthen your burst window and improve damage against elites and bosses.
Dark Prison: Your main defensive tool. Use it when entering dangerous packs or during heavy boss attacks. The Chain Aura variant can also be cast while moving in the Season 15 PTR.
Nether Step: Use Nether Step to move between packs, escape ground effects, reposition during bosses, and increase overall farming speed.
Summon Valloch: Use Valloch before difficult fights and major Apocalypse bursts. Its Authority cost is reduced in the Season 15 PTR, making it easier to include in the rotation.
Best Rotation
For normal packs: Nether Step → Sigil of Chaos → Umbral Chains → Apocalypse → Move
Do not wait for maximum stacks if enemies already die quickly.
For elites and bosses: Command Valloch → Dark Prison → Sigil of Chaos → Umbral Chains → Apocalypse
Build higher Apocalypse stacks before casting, then immediately begin preparing the next burst. Save Apocalypse when a boss is about to become invulnerable or change phase.
Gear Priorities
Weapon: Prioritize Main Stat, Critical Strike Damage, Apocalypse or Hellfire-related damage, and strong offensive Tempering. Upgrade your weapon early because it provides one of the biggest direct damage gains.
Helm and Amulet: Look for Cooldown Reduction, relevant Skill or Passive Ranks, Maximum Life, and useful damage multipliers. Passive ranks on the Amulet are especially valuable.
Gloves: Apocalypse builds should prioritize gloves that directly improve the skill or its Sigil interactions. If you obtain a strong Apocalypse-focused Unique or Legendary setup, build around it rather than replacing it for small generic stat increases.
Rings: Prioritize Critical Strike Chance, Critical Strike Damage, Attack Speed, Main Stat, and useful damage multipliers.
Chest and Pants: Use these slots mainly for Maximum Life, Armor, Resistance, and Damage Reduction.
Boots: Prioritize Movement Speed, Resistance, and defensive utility. Movement Speed is more valuable once your Apocalypse already clears normal packs quickly.
Stat Priority
For damage: Critical Strike Chance → Relevant Skill Ranks → Apocalypse/Hellfire Scaling → Critical Strike Damage → Main Stat → Attack Speed
For defense: Armor Cap → Resistance Cap → Maximum Life → Damage Reduction
For utility: Movement Speed → Cooldown Reduction
Masterworking Priority
Upgrade your strongest long-term pieces first:
1. Apocalypse or Hellfire-related multipliers
2. Relevant Skill or Passive Ranks
3. Critical Strike Chance
4. Cooldown Reduction
5. Maximum Life or defensive affixes
Prioritize your D4 weapon, Amulet, and best offensive gear before spending heavily on temporary pieces.
Soul Splinter Setup
Soul Splinters are Season 15 socketables that go into jewelry and provide strong bonuses with drawbacks. For this build, prioritize effects that improve damage without disrupting the Apocalypse rotation.
Splinter of Anguish is useful when you want more Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, although it increases Primary Resource costs.
Splinter of the Black Soulstone is stronger for dense farming because killing enemies gives temporary multiplicative damage stacks. It is less reliable during long single-target boss fights without additional enemies.
For survivability, defensive Soul Splinters can be used when pushing harder Pit levels instead of forcing maximum damage.
Paragon Priorities
Focus Paragon points on Apocalypse and Hellfire damage multipliers, strong Glyphs, Critical scaling, and necessary defenses. Level your strongest damage Glyphs early and avoid spending too many points reaching weak additive bonuses.
Add Maximum Life, Armor, Resistance, or Damage Reduction when survivability becomes the limiting factor.
Speed Farming Setup
For Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and general farming, prioritize Movement Speed, Nether Step uptime, Attack Speed, faster Apocalypse generation, and AoE damage.
Use: Nether Step → Umbral Chains → Apocalypse → Move
Do not build maximum stacks against weak monsters. Once Apocalypse already kills packs quickly, improve movement speed and cooldown uptime instead of adding unnecessary damage.
Bossing Setup
For bosses, prioritize high Apocalypse stacks, Critical Strike consistency, Cooldown Reduction, defensive uptime, and strong single-target multipliers.
Build stacks before the damage window opens, then use Sigil of Chaos and Apocalypse when the boss can take the full burst. Avoid casting Apocalypse immediately before an invulnerability phase or transition.
