In Diablo 4 Season 11, efficient farming of Obducite, Forgotten Souls, and Nightmare Dungeon Sigils has become more important than ever due to major changes to the crafting and upgrade system. According to Blizzard Entertainment’s official Season 11 update, core endgame systems such as Masterworking, Tempering, Enchanting affixes, and Aspect Imprinting were heavily reworked, dramatically increasing overall material consumption.
As a result, players can no longer rely on a single activity to sustain their resources. Instead, success in Season 11 depends on building an efficient farming loop that generates Obducite, Forgotten Souls, and Nightmare Dungeon Sigils at the same time. This approach ensures smooth progression at higher difficulty tiers for both solo and group play.

How Season 11 Changed Diablo 4’s Crafting Economy
Season 11 completely reshaped Diablo 4’s crafting economy. Nearly every endgame action now consumes Forgotten Souls, including Masterworking upgrades, Tempering rerolls, Enchanting affixes, and imprinting Aspects. Forgotten Souls are no longer a secondary material but a core currency that players must constantly acquire.
At the same time, Obducite has become the primary bottleneck for Masterworking. Without a steady supply, gear progression quickly stalls. Meanwhile, Nightmare Dungeon Sigils no longer drop consistently from normal gameplay, making resource planning and Sigil management far more critical than in previous seasons.
Because of these changes, efficient farming is no longer about maximizing a single resource. The most effective strategy is to create a loop where every activity feeds into the next.
Step 1: High-Value Nightmare Dungeon Sigils
The fastest way to farm Obducite in D4 Season 11 is through specific Nightmare Dungeon Sigils. Among them, Treasure Breach is the strongest option. These dungeons spawn large numbers of Treasure Goblins and can yield several thousand Obducite in a single run. Even if you mainly play solo, grouping up for Treasure Breach runs is strongly recommended, as Diablo 4’s party scaling significantly increases overall rewards and reduces farming time.
Another highly reliable option is Hidden Armory Nightmare Dungeons, especially those that include Strongrooms. Clearing a Strongroom and opening its reward cache drops a large amount of gear along with a solid Obducite payout. Rare Horadric Strongroom Sigils are especially valuable, as they provide direct access to these encounters without additional dungeon searching.
Material Reserve Sigils offer slightly lower Obducite returns but compensate by dropping Forgotten Souls at the same time. These are ideal for players who want balanced material farming rather than focusing on Obducite alone.
Step 2: Use Secondary Sources
Other activities, such as the Undercity and Infernal Hordes, can still provide Obducite, but their efficiency has been significantly reduced in Season 11. Undercity Tribute of Refinement runs now offer only modest returns and should be treated as a fallback option when better Nightmare Sigils are unavailable.
Infernal Hordes are no longer a primary Obducite farm, but they remain useful for generating large amounts of Ancestral gear, which plays an important role in Forgotten Souls farming through salvaging.
Step 3: Treat Forgotten Souls as a Passive Resource
Forgotten Souls should not be farmed directly. Instead, they should be earned passively while performing other high-value activities. The most consistent source in Season 11 is salvaging unused Ancestral equipment, making loot-heavy content extremely valuable.
Helltides are central to this strategy. Helltide chests and Whisper Caches frequently drop Forgotten Souls while maintaining high enemy density and nonstop action. By chaining boss summons and completing Grim Favors during Helltides, players can accumulate large quantities of Forgotten Souls with minimal downtime.
Step 4: Sustain Nightmare Dungeon Sigils Efficiently
In Season 11, Nightmare Dungeon Sigils no longer drop reliably from dungeon completion and must be sustained through crafting at the Occultist using Sigil Powder. The most consistent source of both Sigils and Sigil Powder is again Helltides and Whisper Caches, which naturally tie into Grim Favor farming.
When crafting Sigils, it is recommended to craft multiple at once and keep only high-value types such as Treasure Breach, Hidden Armory, and Material Reserve. Sigils focused on shrines or gems provide low returns and should be salvaged immediately to recover Sigil Powder.
Step 5: Follow the Optimal Farming Loop
The most efficient farming loop in Diablo 4 Season 11 works as follows:
Start by running Helltides to collect Sigil Powder, Forgotten Souls, and large amounts of loot for salvaging. Next, craft high-value Nightmare Dungeon Sigils at the Occultist. Then run those dungeons to clear Strongrooms or Treasure Goblin encounters. Finally, salvage all unwanted Ancestral gear to generate additional Forgotten Souls and Sigil Powder, which feeds directly back into the loop.
This system ensures that every activity supports the next, minimizing wasted time and maximizing overall resource gains.
