Now, in Borderlands 4, some of the most fun you'll get from the game is making a truly powerful character, destroying everything, and having a lot of fun in the process. One of the main ways you can do this is by farming Borderlands 4 gear, making yourself really powerful. But another way, and one that you're probably going to want to invest in, is by making sure you can grab a whole bunch of XP so that you can boost up your specialization points.

Borderlands 4 Endgame Guide: Fastest Ways to Farm XP

Why XP Farming Matters

The more specialization points you earn, the more effectively you can invest in your skill tree — unlocking stronger perks, skills, and synergies. Now, there are a few ways you can get XP in this game, but unfortunately, farming the bosses is definitely not the way. It doesn't give you great XP at all.

A little guide shows you the best ways I found to grab XP faster in the endgame when you're a little bit geared up, helping you get your specializations fast and easy.

Best Solo XP Farming Method — Bounties

When playing solo, bounties are the most efficient and repeatable way to earn XP quickly.

How to Start

● Look for the bounty icon at your safe houses or mission hubs.

● Pick up any available bounties — purple (Vile) ones give slightly more XP than blue ones.

● Complete them as fast as possible for steady XP gains.

Recommended Farming Locations

1. Abandoned Post (Starting Area)

● Great for early and mid-game farming. Most bounties spawn nearby and can be completed quickly via fast travel.

2. Makeshift Chalet (West Side of Map)

● An excellent alternative for variety and quick missions within a small radius.

XP Rewards

● Blue Bounties: ≈ 31,000 XP each

● Purple Bounties: ≈ 36,000 XP each

While the difference is not huge, grinding both types ensures consistent XP flow.

Recommended Gear & Weapons

Use strong Borderlands 4 items and builds to maximize damage output:

● BOD Shotgun – great all-around weapon

● Convergence / Katagawa’s Revenge – excellent for elemental builds

● Chaos & Wombo Combo – effective against Vile enemies

● Knife with Damage and Payload Bonus – adds fast extra melee damage

With this setup, you can earn around 1.4–1.5 million XP per hour, along with valuable Eridium for respecs and upgrades.

Resetting Bounties for Endless XP

Once you finish your bounties:

● Enter your menu and switch your Ultimate Vault Hunter Rank (from 5 → 4 → back to 5).

● This resets the world and refreshes bounty boards with new missions.

● Rank 5 grants around +20 % XP compared to Rank 4.

This simple reset loop lets you keep farming XP non-stop without downtime.

Best Co-op XP Farming Method — Drill Sites

For those playing in co-op mode, Drill Sites are the most efficient XP and loot farm.

Recommended Setup

● Player 1: Farm the Prospects Drill Site and defeat Sydney Pointy Legs repeatedly.

● Player 2: Farm the Pitted Stain and defeat the Foundry Freaks.

Each site offers fast respawns and dense enemy packs ideal for rapid clears.

Combat Tips

● Aim to clear each site in under 1 and 1/2 minutes..

● Use weapons with Jakobs parts for ricochet shots or AoE damage builds for crowd control.

● Equip a Firewerks Shield to deal extra explosive damage if needed.

● Use Moxxi’s B to restart the stage instantly and avoid downtime.

With an optimized build and a co-op partner, you can achieve 1.6 – 2 million XP per hour, plus a steady stream of Borderlands 4 currency and Legendary.
