PoE Builds 3.20: Artillery Ballista Deadeye Build

By Nancy G2023-02-02

What do you do when you're low on PoE currency? You make it rain. This is CheapBunny's Artillery Ballista Deadeye build. It's an affordable and effective build that can clear high-level content in a hail of fire.

How Does This Work?

A very special hat holds the key to this. A brand-new, singular helmet with a potent mod is called Wilma's Requital. Attack speed is affected by cast speed changes as well. CheapBunny has invested in buffs that increase both of these stats and built his entire character around them. For instance, Wilma's use of the Haste aura results in both an increase in attack speed and a decrease in cast speed. We're using Artillery Ballista for our attacks: an attack totem that fires a hail of fiery arrows at its target. Due to the Ancestral Bond mod on Wilma's Requital, we are using totems and cannot deal damage on our own. This build can be used with any of the Ballista Totems, according to CheapBunny, but they found the Artillery Ballista to be the most effective.

Offence

How do we abuse this absurdity about attack speed? I talked about Haste. To begin, we can increase its effectiveness by using the handy eldritch that is built into our armor. The Sublime Vision jewel rolled specifically for Haste can then boost it even further if you can locate one. The keystone for the Supreme Ego is our final option.

The drawback here is completely unimportant to us because we are only using one aura. Our Haste aura alone can provide over 100% increased attack speed, depending on how well we roll all of this gear. But hold on; there's more.

In combat, we can use the Frenzy skill to max out our Frenzy charges. Attack and casting speed are both improved by each of these. Precursor's Emblem is the icing on the cake. This one-of-a-kind ring comes in a variant that grants us Onslaught upon hit and maximum Frenzy charges. And what is Onslaught's function? It speeds up both attacks and spells. Now all that is required of us is to increase our damage output by selecting an appropriate bow and making wise decisions on the tree.

Since CheapBunny points out that physical bow builds typically require auras like Hatred to be effective, we are aiming for an elemental damage bow. Since we only have our super-haste aura, which is not an option for us. We're using special gloves from Abhorrent Interrogation for even more damage. Each of our totems now has its own chance to inflict wither thanks to this mod, "21% Chance to Inflict Withered for 2 Seconds on Hit." This means that each totem's damage is increased based on how much wither it inflicts, which is a lot considering our attack speed.

A side note: CheapBunny also uses Withering Touch Support with his Frenzy setup. However, we checked with Mark and found that using the support gem with Frenzy does not make our totems deal more damage due to the glove's unique mod. The mod text has been the subject of some discussion due to this build.

Lastly, the Deadeye Ascendancy is utilized in this build. Due to the additional projectiles, mark effectiveness, far shot, and tailwind, we can easily inflict additional damage.

Defence

With this build, CheapBunny has reached level 100. So, what are their good practices? By concentrating on the speed of movement, we can take advantage of the cautious playstyle of a totem build. We are already fast enough to avoid most threats thanks to the bonuses from Haste, Onslaught, Tailwind, and Frenzy charges. Using boots with mods like "5% Increased Action Speed" from Eldritch, we can sneak in a little extra speed. When a character does not have access to any other auras, we typically invest as much as we can reasonably gather in Spell Suppression and Evasion.

Last but not least, we're using Searching Eye Jewel to blind enemies. Although we are hitting so frequently that this is a guaranteed blind for any enemy who survives for a sufficient amount of time, the chance of blinding on hit is only 6%.

Conclusion

CheapBunny has built a character that is cautious, fast, and powerful. All rolled into one. While there are some expensive items here, they are simply nice to have, and the build will function well at lower levels of investment. As an added bonus, the soothing sound of hundreds of ballista bolts raining down on your enemies could be the ASMR hit you're looking for. Thanks to CheapBunny for his contribution.
