Crafting Basics in Path of Exile – Eldritch Crafting

By Pen Slingers2023-01-11

The Siege of the Atlas update marked the debut of eldritch crafting in Path of Exile. Eldritch Currency offers a systematic method for creating uninfluenced armor. It is a revised form of Basic Currency and, therefore, primarily utilized for high-end crafts because of its scarcity and high price.

In this article, we will discuss the basics of Eldritch Crafting and the three currencies used in it are:

Exalted Orb – Eldritch

Orb of Annulment – Eldritch

Chaos Orb – Eldritch

All three currencies regularly drop from Bosses and monsters under the influence of Eldritch Horrors, though their chances are pretty low.

Eldritch Implicits

The most crucial aspect of Eldritch Implicits is to know that this is important for using Eldritch currency, the basics of which we will cover in another guide. The following are the salient points for that:

You need to add Lesser Eldritch Ember and Lesser Eldritch Ichor items into your equipment to gain Eldritch Implicits. These are commonly known as Ichors and Embers.

You can add these Implicits only on gear such as body armor, helmets, boots, and gloves.

The armor you are adding them should not have any influence on them

A Fractured artifact can have Eldritch Implicits applied to it, but a Synthesized object cannot.

Eldritch Dominance

Prefixes or suffixes of an object are altered by eldritch currency dependent on which implicit modification is dominant or prominent. Dominance describes the most fantastic Eldritch Implicit modifier (usually from the greatest Ember/Ichor utilized).

Each Implicit has six levels, with the highest level called Perfect. Here the lowest tier/level is called the Lesser.

You can only achieve the higher two levels using the Orbs of Conflict. In contrast, the initial tiers/levels are easily attainable with Embers or Ichors respective to each tier.

Both modifiers are not Dominant if they are of a similar rank, for example, if they are both Lesser.

We will discuss the Eldritch Implicit in detail in the future, so stay tuned on our news page.

Eldritch Exalted Orb

This section will discuss a couple of steps you must follow to add Prefixes/Suffixes to your gear. But first, list some crucial aspects that you need to know.

You can add many modifiers to your gear, termed Suffix or Prefix modifiers. These modifiers are added to gear with the help of Eldritch Exalted Orb, a Modified version of an Exalted Orb. Each modifier addition is based on the Dominant Implicit from this fusion.

A Prefix is applied if Exarch is Dominant. The object must be Rare and have a Suffix if the Eater is Dominant.

It is typically used in conjunction with Eldritch Orbs of Annulment and is a costly approach to predefined target a particular modifier on quasi armor.

High-ES Vaal Regalia Example

In the first step, when you craft the Vaal Regalia, you will get a high-Energy Shield chest craft with Max HP between 25-35. If you want to stop it from mixing with the Eldritch Exalted Orb, you will use the mod-blocking technique. The best part of this crafting is that the Prefix will be disabled because The Vaal Regalia is Searing Exarch Dominant.

In the second step, the crafting will add a Prefix instead of a Suffix because of the Searing Exarch nature of the modifier this armor has. The reason is that it has the highest tier implicit, and in a perfect case, you get a % increase in the Energy Shield.

When the non-Dominant modification class is whole, utilize Exalted Orbs if they are less expensive than Eldritch Exalted Orbs (like this craft).

Eldritch Orb of Annulment

An Eldritch Orb of Annulment eliminates whether it's a Suffix or Prefix, dependent on the Dominant Implicit modification, in contrast to Eldritch Exalted Orbs.

It makes use of a redesigned Orb of Annulment. A Prefix is dropped if Exarch is Dominant. A suffix is eliminated if the Eater is Dominant, and the product must be Unique or rare.

High-ES Vaal Regalia Example

The first step has a different approach in the Orb of Annulment case. Let's imagine that rather than the intended modification in step 2 of the last craft, +(35-39) to max Mana was pounded. This frequently occurs because an Eldritch Exalted Orb may add any attribute from the pool.

For the 2nd step, The +35 to Max Mana is eliminated with an Eldritch Orb of Annulment. No Suffixes are in danger of deletion since the object is Exarch-Dominant. The method could eliminate it because +100 to total Energy Shields is a Prefix.

Eldritch Chaos Orb

An Eldritch Chaos Orb is a revised form of a Chaos Orb which, based on the Dominant Implicit attribute, reforges the Prefixes or Suffixes of an artifact.

So if you try to reroll different groups of affixes, you can get 1-3 modifiers in each case, but if the Fractured modifier is present, and that too on the Dominant side, you can allow non to be added because of the Orb. This method is less time-consuming.

Example of Eater of Worlds Dominant Slink Gloves

A Minor Eldritch Ichor is used to reapply Eater Dominance during the first phase, which can easily cause an Eldritch Chaos Orb to help reroll the desired suffix.

In this instance, the reroll provided a +12% Probability to Reduce Spell DMG and a +20% Lightning Res to the second step.

Summary

So in this article, we simply touched on the basics of crafting. We will need a few more articles to explain this in more detail. Keep in mind that the Eldritch Currency used here are all the upgraded versions of the primary currency in the game. This also makes it difficult to craft because they are rare and expensive. Therefore, it is recommended to use an armor piece afflicting with Eldritch Implicit. One final thing, Prefixes or suffixes of an object are altered by eldritch currencies dependent on which implicit modification is dominant. Eldritch Implicit modification of the top rank is referred to as dominance.
