In the endgame phase of New World: Aeternum, most players aim to quickly assemble powerful builds and obtain BIS (Best in Slot) gear. With many endgame farming spots available, the key question becomes: which locations offer the best efficiency, whether you prefer AFK farming or active group grinding? This guide provides a comprehensive and clear overview.

This guide will share three of the current top farming locations as well as one chest-run route, farming each area for 30 minutes and comparing how many Legendary items you can obtain per minute. This will help you determine which spot is worth your time in the current version.

New World Best Gear Farming Guide: Top Spots for Fast Legendary Drops

How to Increase Your Drop Efficiency

Before heading to any farming location, you should understand the following:

1. New World Loot Biasing System

Drops are influenced by the equipment you currently wear.

If you want to farm light armor, heavy armor, magical weapons, etc., make sure you wear the same type before you start farming.

2. Optional Luck Boosts

To maximize efficiency, you can prepare:

    • Luck Gear
    • Luck Food
    • Music Buffs
    • PvP Flag (recommended only when grouped, otherwise you may lose loot due to not tagging enemies)

3. Chests Within Farm Spots

Most farming locations contain additional chests.

Be sure to open them when you farm on your own—they provide valuable extra loot

Spot 1: Mercy Redoubt

Zone: Night Haven

Teleport to Church of Memory, then head northwest.

This area usually has many players farming together. Joining a group is extremely easy—simply type "X" in the area chat.

You can farm in two ways:

  • AFK style: return every few minutes to pick up loot bags
  • Active style: circle the camp, clearing enemies to speed up spawns

This spot is perfect for players who want a relaxed, semi-AFK farming experience.

Spot 2: Tower of the Sun

Zone: Night Haven

Teleport to Grand Carnival Outpost, then run west toward the tower.

At the top of the tower, you’ll find two elite bosses:

  • Memory of Heru
  • Memory of Au

They respawn extremely fast, and the spot is almost always crowded with players. Join the group via area chat and start farming immediately.

There are also three elite chests outside the boss room—open them between kills (avoid standing in the doorway when bosses reset, or you may get launched off the tower).

This spot drops gear very quickly, making it ideal for players who want to rapidly fill their gear pool.

Spot 3: Isle of Zurvan

Zone: Alleian Wilds

Travel from Shrine of the Lion, swim east, or take the mountain path to reach the platform. The boss Puggnacius Perutu spawns here.

The gorilla enemies have knockback attacks, but with enough players, they pose no real threat. Even if you fall off the cliff, you still receive loot credit.

You can also farm two Artifacts here: Bolt Caster and Lifetaker.

This location currently offers the fastest and most outrageous Legendary drop rate among all farming spots.

Chest Run

Type “X chestrun” or “X world tour” in recruitment chat to join a chest-run group. Follow the team through various zones and open every chest along the route.

Chest run benefits include:

  • Gear
  • Coins
  • Crystals
  • Sellable items
  • Misc. valuable resources

It is the most well-rounded method for overall economic gain.

During endgame progression, you may find that New World Gold becomes just as important as gear—whether you're rerolling perks, upgrading artifacts, or buying key items from the market. Many players simply choose to use a trusted external source when currency becomes a bottleneck, allowing them to spend more time farming the content they enjoy instead of grinding for Gold.

Why Do Players Still Farm Other Spots

Each location has different drop tables. Different enemies drop completely different gear, so your farming location should be based on the item you’re targeting, not just efficiency.

Use the New World Database to check drop tables for:

  • Mercy Redoubt enemies
  • The two elite bosses in Tower of the Sun
  • The four gorilla bosses in Isle of Zurvan

This ensures the item you want actually drops from the spot you farm. Because drop tables vary by location, all these farming spots remain active and relevant.

Conclusion

Every MMO player has their own rhythm. New World offers many ways to acquire gear:

  • Expeditions
  • PvP
  • Catacombs
  • Artifact quests
  • Gear farming hotspots
  • Chest runs

If you don’t enjoy AFK or group-farming content, you can absolutely progress your character through other methods. Farming spots are simply one option, not a requirement.
