Gold has never been more important in Diablo 4. Between enchanting, Masterworking, crafting Gems, and upgrading gear, you can easily spend hundreds of millions of gold before your build is complete.
The good news is that you don't need to rely on inefficient farming methods. With the right setup, Escalating Nightmare Dungeons can generate hundreds of millions of gold in a single run.
In this guide, we'll cover the best Season 14 gold farming methods, including Gold Reserve Nightmare Dungeons, Horadric Seal farming, Gold Find optimization, and Gem trading.
Method 1: Escalating Nightmare Dungeons – The Best Gold Farming Method
Nightmare Dungeons have become one of the best sources of gold in Diablo 4, especially those with the Gold Reserve affix. These dungeons contain special chests that are marked directly on your map and can reward over a million gold each.
However, the real profit comes from Escalating Nightmare Dungeons. The second and third floors of an Escalating Nightmare Dungeon provide dramatically increased rewards. If either floor rolls Gold Reserve, individual chests can reward over 10 million gold each.
Testing shows that a single Escalating Nightmare Dungeon with Gold Reserve on both the second and third floors can generate more than 350 million gold in one run.
The only problem is that getting Gold Reserve floors is completely random. Fortunately, you can improve your chances through the right War Plans setup.
Best War Plan Setup
In your War Plans, go to the Nightmare Dungeon activity tree and invest three points directly down the center path until you unlock Branching Pathways.
For gold farming, this node is important because it causes three portals to appear at the end of each floor. That means you will have three opportunities to choose the next dungeon modifier, significantly increasing your chances of finding Gold Reserve floors and chaining multiple Gold Reserve dungeons together.
Craft Escalating Nightmare Sigils
You can craft Escalating Nightmare Sigils using the Horadric Cube. Place five normal Nightmare Sigils, transmute them together, and you will be rewarded with an Escalating Nightmare Dungeon Sigil.
Increase Your Gold Find
Charms can roll Gold Find bonuses between 6% and 8%. With a fully optimized six-slot setup, you can gain nearly 50% increased Gold Find. This makes every Gold Reserve chest significantly more valuable, and the value can increase even further if any of those Gold Find rolls become Greater Affixes.
So I recommend keeping a separate Gold Find Charm loadout specifically for farming sessions. And make sure you are picking up duplicate Charms for this setup.
When combined with Escalating Nightmare Dungeons, this setup can push your total earnings beyond 500 million gold per run.
Method 2: Sell Horadric Seals for Millions of Gold
Any Legendary Horadric Seals that you don't need can be sold to vendors for over 10 million gold each, making them one of the most valuable sellable items in the game.
The best ways to farm these seals are through:
● Talisman War Plan rewards
● Talisman Whisper Caches
● Undercity Tributes
For Undercity, use a Tribute of the Horadric, which guarantees Charms and gives you a chance to receive additional Seals at the end of the run. You can also place five Tributes into the Horadric Cube and transmute them into a higher rarity Tribute, increasing the rewards even further.
To maximize your profits, invest three points into the left side of the activity tree and unlock Gutterfil.
Then, during your Undercity runs, destroy every Spirit Brazier you encounter. These can spawn Portal Prankster Goblins, which add bonus reward chests at the end of the run and provide even more Seals and Charms.
Method 3: Trading Gems for Gold
If you are not playing Solo Self-Found, trading Gems can be another incredibly effective source of income. For example, Grand Gems can regularly be sold for hundreds of millions of gold on Diablo.trade, a website sanctioned by Blizzard for player-to-player trading. This makes gem farming one of the easiest ways to directly convert your playtime into currency.
