Gems are an important part of Diablo 4 Season 14 endgame progression, helping players improve damage, survivability, and overall build performance across Torment difficulties, Nightmare Dungeons, Lair Bosses, and other endgame activities.

Since different builds require different gem types, efficient farming methods are essential. In Season 14, Escalation Nightmare Dungeons are ideal for targeted Gem Fragment farming, while Ultimate Nemesis Lair offers a faster way to farm Royal Gems and Grand Gems with the right setup.

This guide covers both methods, including War Plans setups, farming steps, and how to maximize your gem rewards.

Method 1: Farm Gem Fragments in Escalation Nightmare Dungeons

Escalation Nightmare Dungeons are one of the best ways to farm Gem Fragments in Diablo 4 Season 14 because they allow you to target the Gem Fragment type you actually need. With the right setup, you can get up to around 300,000 Gem Fragments per chest, and bosses may drop even more when you select the correct Gem Fragment affix. This makes the method a strong alternative to the old Seers Reach farm.

Recommended War Plans Setup

This farming method mainly relies on two core systems:

● Nightmare Dungeon nodes in War Plans

● Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigils.

In the Nightmare Dungeon section of War Plans, focus on the middle path and take these two key nodes:

●  Recurring Nightmare

●  Branching Pathways.

Recurring Nightmare allows bosses in Nightmare Dungeons and Escalation Nightmare Dungeons to have a chance to drop Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigils. This helps sustain the farming loop by allowing the activity itself to generate more sigils.

Branching Pathways is the core reward-control mechanic. After completing each layer of an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon, it provides multiple rewards and affix choices, allowing you to prioritize rewards such as Gem Fragments, D4 Gold, materials, Obols, or other useful loot. This makes it especially effective for targeted Gem Fragment farming.

Method 1: Farm Gem Fragments in Escalation Nightmare Dungeons

Before starting the farm, prepare several Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigils. If you need more, you can craft them in the Horadric Cube:

5 Nightmare Dungeon Sigils = 1 Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigil

How to Farm Escalation Nightmare Dungeons

Once you have enough Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigils, use one to start an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon.

Clear each layer, defeat the boss, and check the three reward choices from Branching Pathways after each stage. If your target Gem Fragment type appears, choose it immediately. If it does not appear, select the best alternative reward, such as materials, Gold, Obols, or gear-related options.

The complete farming loop works as follows:

1. Start an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon using one sigil.

2. Defeat bosses in each layer and collect additional Nightmare Dungeon Sigils.

3. Use Branching Pathways after each layer to select your rewards.

4. Prioritize the Gem Fragment type you need.

5. If the desired Gem Fragment affix appears, clear the dungeon and open all available chests.

6. Defeat the boss to collect additional Gem Fragments.

7. Fight Astaroth at the end and choose Riches of Keys whenever available to increase the chance of receiving Nightmare Dungeon Sigils and Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigils.

8. Use collected sigils to craft more Escalation Nightmare Dungeon Sigils.

9. Repeat the loop.

How to Maximize Gem Fragment Rewards

Once you select the desired Gem Fragment affix, both chests and bosses will drop large amounts of that Gem Fragment type.

For example, on Torment 11, a single chest can provide around 270,000 Ruby Fragments, with each dungeon layer containing about 6–10 chests. Bosses can also drop over 700,000 Ruby Fragments. Since crafting a Grand Gem requires around 1,000,000 Gem Fragments, choosing the right affix can significantly speed up your progress.

Gem Fragment rewards also depend on two factors:

Difficulty level – Higher Torment levels provide more fragments.

Dungeon depth – Later Escalation Nightmare Dungeon layers offer better rewards than earlier ones.

The deeper you progress, the more Gem Fragments you can earn from both chests and bosses.

Method 2: Farm Royal Gems and Grand Gems in Ultimate Nemesis Lair

The Ultimate Nemesis Lair is one of the strongest gem farming methods in Diablo 4 Season 14. With the right setup, players can get up to 9 Royal Gems in around 2 minutes, and many of these Royal Gems have a chance to become Grand Gems.

However, unlike Escalation Nightmare Dungeon farming, this method requires more preparation. You need the correct War Plans setup, luck to reach the Ultimate Nemesis Lair, and a friend to help reset the dungeon. Once everything is prepared, you can repeatedly farm the Ultimate Nemesis Lair for a large amount of high-value gems.

Recommended War Plans Setup

To start this farm, go to the Lair Boss section of War Plans. You only need these three nodes:

●  Two by Two

●  Greater Nemesis

●  Ultimate Nemesis

Method 2: Farm Royal Gems and Grand Gems in Ultimate Nemesis Lair

These nodes allow you to progress through Nemesis layers and unlock the Ultimate Nemesis Lair, where the actual gem farming takes place.

How to Unlock Ultimate Nemesis Lair

The process requires progressing through multiple Nemesis layers:

1. Kill as many Lair Bosses as possible.

2. Open the Lair Boss loot chest for a chance to spawn a portal to the Nemesis Lair.

3. Enter the Nemesis Lair and defeat the bosses to open a chance for a portal to the Greater Nemesis Lair.

4. Clear the Greater Nemesis Lair and enter the Ultimate Nemesis Lair by paying 5 Betrayer’s Husks.

Required Party Setup

The Ultimate Nemesis Lair farm requires a friend to help reset the dungeon. The key requirement is that you and your friend must be in different Torment difficulties.

Example:

● You are playing on Torment 12.

●  Your friend joins from Torment 11 or another lower difficulty.

Different difficulty versions allow you to reset your Ultimate Nemesis Lair and repeatedly farm the boss.

Step-by-Step Farming Process

Assume you are on Torment 12 and your friend is on Torment 11.

Step 1: Your friend joins your T 12 Ultimate Nemesis Lair. Kill the boss normally and collect the first reward.

Step 2: After that, your friend leaves the group and is teleported to their T11 version of the Ultimate Nemesis Lair, which will be reset.

Step 3: Join your friend's version of the Ultimate Nemesis Lair. You can defeat the boss there, but this version does not provide normal loot. The purpose of this step is only to prepare for the reset.

Step 4: Leave your friend's party. You will then be teleported back to your original T12 Ultimate Nemesis Lair, and your dungeon will be reset.

Step 5: Trigger the Boss Reset

After your dungeon is reset, enter the boss room again.

Quickly damage the boss by at least 20% of its health, reach the first health marker, and leave the boss room before the fog wall appears.

If you are too slow and the fog wall appears, you will not be able to leave the boss area and must restart the attempt.

Follow this sequence:

1. Enter the boss’s room.

2. Damage the boss by at least 20%.

3. Leave the boss area before the fog wall appears.

4. Wait a few seconds until the fog wall disappears.

5. Enter the boss’s room again.

If done correctly, only the first boss will remain available. Killing this boss again will reward you with:

* Up to 9 Royal Gems

* Possible Grand Gems

* Other valuable rewards

Step 6: Repeat the Farming Loop
