OSRS 1-99 F2P Runecrafting Guide

Runecrafting is one of the most profitable skills in Old School RuneScape. Today MmoGah is sharing with you a F2P Runecrafting guide. This guide will show you which Runes are the best to make for XP in OSRS. There are 2 methods in this guide: One is a cheap method; the other one is an expensive but fast method. If you have a lot of OSRS gold, then the second method will be pretty good for you.

When you are doing Runecrafting in F2P, there are only 3 items you need:

1. Rune essence or Pure essence. (They will both do the same thing for you in F2P)

2. Talisman: You need a Talisman for whatever kind of Rune you are going to create. If you are using an Air talisman, then you are going to make Air runes; if you are using a Water talisman, you are going to make Water Runes, and so on and so forth.

3. Tiara: You will also need a tiara for the specific Rune. Since you can wear the tiara, and the tiara does the same thing as the Talisman, you can actually put the talisman in your bank so that you have one more inventory space to put the Rune essence or pure essence in, which will make the skill faster to train. There is another thing you may need which we will talk about later in this guide.

Levels 1-9

Crafting Air Runes

XP per inventory: 140

XP for level 9: 969

Essence needed: 194

Inventories of Essence for level 9: 7

You need to have a full inventory of Rune essence/Pure essence and wear the Air tiara. It will be nice to have a full Run energy but you are going to run out of Run energy very quickly.

You are going to start from the Falador east bank and head over to the Air altar which can be found south of Falador, north-west of the first T-junction you come across after exiting the south gate.

If you are wearing an Air tiara, you can left-click the Mysterious ruins and enter into the altar. You can also use a talisman to enter, but it will save you the click to use a tiara instead of a talisman.

At the beginning, you can only craft 28 Air runes per inventory. As you reach higher levels, you’ll make more Runes per essence. Note that the XP you’ll get is not from the Runes you craft but from the essence you use.

You can also watch Youtuber Xrenor’s video for more details on how to train Runecrafting in F2P, and all the content of this article is quoted from his video:

Levels 9-14

Crafting Earth Runes

XP per inventory: 182

XP for level 14: 1,138

Essence needed: 176

Inventories of Essence for level 14: 7

To make Earth runes, you need to wear on an Earth tiara. You can also use an Earth talisman, but as we have mentioned before, a tiara is better than a talisman. You need a full inventory of Pure essence or Rune essence. Also, at the beginning, you will make 28 Runes for each inventory.

You are going to start from the Varrock east bank and head to the Earth altar which is located south of the Varrock Lumber Yard.

Levels 14-20

Crafting Fire Runes

XP per inventory: 196

XP for level 20: 2,363

Essence needed: 338

Inventories of Essence for level 20: 14

You need to wear a Fire tiara and have a full inventory of Rune essence. The closest bank is the one at the Duel Arena, and you are going to craft Fire runes at the Fire altar which is located north of Al Kharid just west of the Duel Arena.

There is a nice little trick you can do to get full Run energy: If you have a friend, you challenge him at the Duel Arena (Do not stake anything), and instead of letting the duel start, you are going to forfeit it, then you will have a full Run energy.

Levels 20-99

From level 20 to level 99, there are 2 methods. One is a cheap method, and the other one is an expensive method, but the expensive one gives you the best Runecrafting XP in F2P.

1. Cheap method - Crafting Body Runes

You are going to wear a Body tiara and craft Body runes with a full inventory of Rune essence at the Body altar which may be found south of the Edgeville Monastery and west of the Barbarian Village.

XP per inventory: 210

XP for level 99: 13,029,961

Essence needed: 1,737,329

Inventories of Essence for level 99: 62,048

2. Expensive but fast method - Making Body tiara

This is the best Runecrafting XP in F2p. Body tiara can be created by using a Tiara on the Body altar with a Body talisman in the inventory.

XP per inventory: 525

XP for level 99: 13,029,961

Cost: 354,762,786 rsgp

Inventories needed for level 99: 24,819

Price for Body talisman: 910 gp (GE price on July 10, 2018)

Price for Tiara: 111 gp (GE price on July 10, 2018)

So the cost for each inventory is 14,294 OSRS gold (14 Body talisman + 14 Tiara)

Doing this grants 37.5 XP which is better than regular Runecrafting. I only recommend this method if you have a lot of RuneScape gold.

At last, there is one thing that will be useful – Energy potion, if you have enough RuneScape 2007 gold, you can buy Energy potion from the GE. Each dose of this potion restores 10% of your Run energy. Every time when you run back to the bank, you withdraw and drink the entire potion then continue your Runecrafting.
