Early in May, longtime creative director of the Madden franchise, Rex Dickson stepped down from the position. According to the latest news from Polygon, Mike Young is the new creative director for Madden 19. When you look at the visual quality of "Longshot," it seems safe to expect continued improvement in the graphics and presentation of the series under Young's influence.
On Saturday, Polygon's Owen Good published an article discussing the new leadership for the NBA Live franchise, which is executive producer Sean Graddy (previously of Madden). Within the piece, it also states: "Carlos Guerrero is the game’s new senior producer, in a reorganization that has consolidated creative director duties into a single role (Mike Young)."
For those who are unaware, Young was in charge of the creation of "Longshot" the first-ever story mode in Madden 18, where his title was Creative Director, but he will now be the closest thing to what Dickson was for the franchise. Young has worked with EA since 2002 when he started as an Art Director. When you look at the visual quality of "Longshot," it seems safe to expect continued improvement in the graphics and presentation of the series under Young's influence.
The hiring of Carlos Guererro as a senior producer, a professional with a wealth of experience from his days with Blizzard, it's also logical to anticipate the series focusing more on community-driven initiatives. That's considered a major strength of the development teams for titles like Overwatch and World of Warcraft.
This is certainly a new era for Madden. If there is enough balance between the old and the new, it could be a step in the right direction.
