Arms Warrior is in a very strong position in WoW Midnight Season 2, and despite expectations of a nerf, the specialization remains highly competitive. Arms Warrior Season 2 Overview
The focus of this guide is the Slayer Hero Talent build. Colossus is not covered in detail because it is currently much weaker this season compared with Slayer.
Arms has also received a relatively smooth rotation thanks to changes surrounding Tactical Edge, Sudden Death, and Bladestorm. With the right setup, players can achieve much more frequent Bladestorm windows, making the specialization feel particularly fluid in Season 2.
Arms Warrior Season 2 Stats
The recommended stat priority remains: Critical Strike > Haste > Mastery.
Versatility is generally not a priority and can usually be avoided unless specific gear or cantrip combinations make it worthwhile. However, stat values can change depending on your current gear. With Haste appearing on several Season 2 effects, including the Omnium Folio and certain consumables, stacking too much Haste can lead to diminishing value. For this reason, sim your character regularly instead of blindly following a fixed stat priority.

Tier Set
The Season 2 Arms tier set is largely passive. One notable gameplay change is that Slam deals additional AoE damage around the primary target. The four-piece bonus also affects Heroic Strike and the AoE component, providing additional passive damage while making Heroic Strike hits particularly powerful in single-target situations.
One important change is that Arms no longer receives the extended Colossus Smash duration from the previous tier set. As a result, you need to pay more attention to fitting your major abilities into each Colossus Smash window.
Recommended Crafted Gear
For endgame Arms Warriors, Bracers and Boots are generally the preferred crafted pieces. A weapon can also be crafted early if you do not expect to obtain a high-level Mythic weapon later. However, if you already have access to a strong raid weapon, crafting Bracers and Boots is generally the better long-term choice.
For embellishments, Arcanoweave Insight remains a strong option. The new Haste-proc embellishment can also perform well. The best choice depends heavily on your current stat distribution, so simming both options is recommended.
Best Trinkets
The preferred Season 2 trinkets are Voracious Heart of Ula'tek and Guillotine from Coiled Altar. Mythic+ trinkets are generally weaker this season, so raid trinkets are preferred whenever possible. If you do not have the new raid trinkets, Heart of Ancient Hunger and Umbral Plume from the previous season can still provide useful Critical Strike stats.
Recommended Weapon
The two-handed axe Maze-roa from Coiled Altar is particularly valuable because of its synergy with the associated trinket and its strong single-target damage. It is especially effective in two-target cleave, which is relevant for several encounters in the current raid.

Arms Warrior Season 2 Consumables
For Flasks, you can choose between Flask of the Blood Knights for Critical Strike and Flask of the Shattered Sun for Haste.
For potions, Light's Potential Potion is a straightforward option. More experienced players can experiment with Recklessness Potions, particularly when their character's stats are optimized around Critical Strike.
For weapon oil, use Thalassian Phoenix Oil, which provides additional Critical Strike and Haste.
For the Omnium Folio, the best proc can change depending on your overall stats. Haste, Critical Strike, and Mastery options can all have value.
Again, the best combination depends on your character. For example, if you already have a large amount of Haste from other sources, a Critical Strike-oriented setup may be more effective.
Arms Warrior Season 2 Talents
Arms Warrior uses different talent setups depending on the number of targets. The three primary configurations are Single Target, Two-Target Cleave and AoE. All three builds use Slayer.
Single-Target Talents
The standard single-target build focuses on maximizing Mortal Strike, Heroic Strike, and the Slayer toolkit. Some utility talents remain flexible. For example, Shockwave or Field Dressing can be selected depending on the encounter. Wrecking Throw is still useful for breaking shields, although it is no longer an important part of the regular rotation. Fearless is also recommended because of its snare-removal utility. One of the important changes this season is taking Barbaric Training over Crushing Force, improving Slam and Cleave rather than Mortal Strike.
Cleave is now also used in the single-target build because it automatically applies Rend. This means players no longer need to keep Rend permanently bound unless they want a backup for situations where Cleave misses because of its hitbox. The Slayer build continues to use Culling Cyclone and Fierce Followthrough.
Dreadnaught is no longer useful for pure single-target damage because it has become an AoE-focused talent and no longer provides the previous primary-target double-hit effect. The updated Tactical Edge setup is particularly important. Colossus Smash grants a Sudden Death use, which helps reduce Bladestorm's cooldown through Unrelenting Onslaught. As a result, Bladestorm can be available roughly every 45 seconds rather than around every 90 seconds, creating a smoother single-target rotation.
Two-Target Cleave Talents
The two-target build is highly effective for raid encounters where two targets remain stacked together. Compared with the single-target build, this setup takes Dreadnaught and Powerful Momentum while using Opportunist for stronger cleave damage. The build also uses Broad Strokes, allowing Sweeping Strikes charges to stack more efficiently.
For certain encounters with additional targets, such as fights where three adds periodically appear, Fervor of Battle can be considered instead of Bloodsurge. The exact choice depends on the encounter and whether the additional targets remain active long enough to justify the change.
AoE Talents
For Mythic+ and heavy-AoE raid encounters, the recommended setup adds:
- Shockwave
- Rumbling Earth
- Opportunist
- Fervor of Battle
- Collateral Damage
Collateral Damage increases the effectiveness of Cleave after repeated uses and provides additional passive AoE damage. The overall build remains flexible, allowing Arms Warriors to adapt their talents to individual raid encounters.
Arms Warrior Single-Target Rotation
Arms uses a priority-based rotation rather than a strict fixed sequence.
1. Maintain Rend
Cleave can automatically apply Rend, making it the preferred opener. Rend is extremely important this season because maintaining it provides a permanent 5% Critical Strike chance. Try to keep Rend active throughout the fight.
Because Colossus Smash now lasts only around 10 seconds, it is also important to apply or refresh Rend before entering a Colossus Smash window whenever possible. You do not want to waste your short damage window applying Rend.
2. Use Your Major Cooldowns
Your primary cooldown sequence generally includes Avatar → Colossus Smash → Trinkets → Bladestorm. The new Tactical Edge interaction guarantees a Sudden Death proc from Colossus Smash, allowing you to build toward Bladestorm more efficiently. Using Sudden Death before Bladestorm can therefore improve the burst window and help accelerate Bladestorm's cooldown.
3. Main Priority
Outside of major cooldown windows, the general priority is:
- Heroic Strike when it procs from Master of Warfare
- Mortal Strike
- Sudden Death / Execute
- Overpower
- Slam as a filler
- Maintain Rend
Sudden Death should not be wasted. If you accumulate multiple Sudden Death procs during Bladestorm, use Execute before returning to Heroic Strike and Mortal Strike.
Execute Phase
During execute phase, the priority changes slightly. Use Two Executes → Mortal Strike. The two Executes generate Precision stacks that improve the following Mortal Strike. Overpower should still be woven into the rotation when appropriate, especially when Rage is running low. Avoid allowing yourself to become Rage-starved. Heroic Strike remains extremely important during execute phase. Continue to use Bladestorm inside your Colossus Smash window whenever possible.
When Should You Use Bladestorm?
Normally, Bladestorm should be saved for the next Colossus Smash window. However, extremely high Haste or favorable Slayer proc luck can occasionally reset Bladestorm very quickly. If Bladestorm becomes available again within roughly 10–15 seconds, using it immediately can sometimes be worthwhile. This is a judgment call because holding it for the next Colossus Smash window is generally safer. Most of the time, keeping Bladestorm aligned with Colossus Smash remains the recommended approach.
Two-Target Cleave Rotation
The two-target rotation is surprisingly similar to the single-target rotation. When Sweeping Strikes is active, do not simply spam Cleave because there are two targets. Instead, continue using your normal single-target priority while maintaining Sweeping Strikes. The major difference is positioning.
Positioning with Dreadnaught
Dreadnaught's Overpower lines travel outward from your position. If two targets are positioned directly in front of you without proper alignment, the Dreadnaught effect may fail to hit both targets. Position yourself so that the two targets are properly lined up, allowing the Overpower effect to pass through one target and hit the other. This becomes especially important when dealing with several enemies.
Sweeping Strikes
Maintain Sweeping Strikes as consistently as possible. Outside of Bloodlust, maintaining the charges should generally be straightforward. During Bloodlust, however, you may burn through Sweeping Strikes charges much faster. In those situations, Cleave can be used to refresh Rend rather than wasting remaining Sweeping Strikes charges on a low-value filler such as Slam.
AoE Rotation
The AoE build changes the priority significantly. With Fervor of Battle and Collateral Damage, Cleave becomes one of the most important abilities in the rotation. The general AoE priority is:
- Sudden Death / Execute
- Cleave
- Overpower
- Mortal Strike
- Slam as a final filler
Cleave should generally be used on cooldown. Mortal Strike is considerably less important in AoE than in single-target situations, while Dreadnaught provides a large amount of additional damage. Execute also gains increased value because of the Slayer-related Executioner stacks.
Colossus Smash AoE Windows
During Colossus Smash, Sudden Death has priority over Overpower because it guarantees additional value from the AoE toolkit. If you have multiple Sudden Death procs, use them efficiently rather than allowing them to expire. If you have only one Sudden Death proc but two Overpower charges available, you can sometimes use Overpower first to avoid wasting its charges—unless you are inside a Colossus Smash window, where Sudden Death should generally take priority. If Collateral Damage is fully stacked before entering Colossus Smash, it can take priority over Bladestorm.
Final Thoughts
Arms Warrior is currently a strong and flexible DPS specialization in Midnight Season 2. Slayer is the recommended Hero Talent path, while the exact talent build should change according to the encounter.
