Oni-Goroshi is a powerful unique sword that drops six linked. It's classed as a one-handed sword despite the fact that you can only use it on its own. Its physical damage increases with character level, but its real power comes from the buff Her Embrace, which is granted anytime you ignite an enemy, which is all the time because this sword has a really high crit chance. It could be incredibly lucrative to farm at the moment because this sword is selling for above 15 divines.

Two Ways to Farm Oni-Goroshi
So, how do you get one? Well, you could farm 27 rebirth cards, which is kind of boring, or you can farm it from the boss in the game that always drops it, Uber Hillock. Whilst he's guaranteed to drop it every time you kill him, there's a catch. That is, it only drops in the Twilight Strand in Act One. This is the first area in the game, and the moment you leave it, it's impossible to get back. So, what you're going to have to do is not leave the area. Once you get to the end and kill Hillock, log out. The one saving grace here is that the area resets every 90 seconds, which is the fastest reset in the entire game. So to farm this, assuming we can kill Hillock in about 30 seconds, we can run four parallel characters in order to have zero downtime.
How to Use Scion to Farm Oni-Goroshi
The best character I found to do this on is the Scion because she has a lot of base movement speed off the tree early. What you want to do is run the Scion up to the end of the beach, kill Hillock, and then work your way back down the beach to collect PoE currency items. You're going to want to do this for several runs till you've got movement speed boots, a two-handed weapon, and some iron rings. Once you've got the base PoE gear, just keep running down and kill Hillock, and then log out.
How Altek2k to Farm Oni-Goroshi
I tend to farm this sword once every 2 to 3 years. And this year was the latest one, which is the second longest time it's taken to actually get an Uber and get a sword. My first sword dropped as my characters reached level 7 in 8 hours, 44 minutes, and 58 seconds. I then continued to run the characters until every character had dropped a sword. This took less than an hour, and so I had all four swords in less than 9 and 1/2 hours. I did have a few people tell me that you can get more than one sword per character.
I set out to prove this for science. On two of the characters, I continued rushing but using Oni-Goroshi. On another character, I had Oni-Goroshi dropped and identified. And on the fourth character, Oni-Goroshi was dropped but unidentified. All I can say is don't do this at home. 22 hours in, and I still hadn't dropped another sword on any of the characters. By this point, I was losing the last bit of sanity I had, and I didn't have much to start with, so I gave up.
About Dropping Oni-Goroshi
So, what do we know about dropping Oni-Goroshi? Well, I've only ever dropped it between character level six and character level 8. Once your characters get to character level seven, the chance to drop seems to be much, much higher, as the Oni-Goroshis start dropping thick and fast. As I said, I got all four within an hour of actually getting the first one. Uber Hillock is known as Uber Hillock for a reason - He's a complete nightmare compared to the normal variant. He's like the normal variant, only he has two special abilities and way more life than is reasonable for the first area of the game.
His first special ability, and by far the most dangerous, is leap slam. He basically leaps across the arena and tries to jump on your head. This is actually an unreasonable amount of damage. It doesn't quite one-shot you, but you're pretty close to death afterward.
For his second ability, he summons a crowd of zombies. These aren't very difficult to kill, but when you get enough of them, they can swarm you, so keep them down as quickly as possible. Towards the end of the game, you'll be killing normal Hillocks in seconds.
However, at the start of the game, it can be quite difficult, especially with the Scion starter skill. The starter skill does most of its damage at the end of its run. So, if you manage to catch a Hillock between a wall and the sword, you'll end the run prematurely, do all the damage to him, and kill him far more quickly.
Final Thoughts
The fastest I've ever dropped Oni-Goroshi is 4 hours, 3 years ago. The first time I tried to run it when I was completely inexperienced, it took me 18 hours. So, this is not for the faint-hearted. And as such, you do want to take care of yourself. I would avoid running it in one sitting, which I did the first year, never again. And make sure you've got plenty to drink and get up and walk around frequently. And that's it. If you are farming it, best of luck, Exile.
