PoE 2 Mageblood Farming Guide: Ritual Setup, Tablets & Tips

Ritual farming gives you a way to pursue Mageblood while collecting other valuable rewards. The setup needs to do three things: generate enough Tribute, reveal more Favours, and let you secure an expensive item when it appears. Finding Mageblood is only part of the job—you also need to afford buying or deferring it.

This strategy focuses on repeatable decisions rather than a promised drop rate. Start with manageable maps and useful tablets, then increase investment when your character can consistently finish the encounters.

🧭 Unlock Your Ritual Progression First

Reach Caer Tarth, speak with Aoife, and complete the surrounding maps to earn Ritual Atlas passive points. Spend your initial points toward the core setup below before investing heavily in tablets.

After completing your planned rerolls and buying or deferring the rewards you want, offer any remaining Tribute to the King to work toward An Audience with the King. Use it to reveal the Crux of Nothingness on your Atlas, then enter the area and defeat The King in the Mists. Bring the Head of the King to Caer Tarth and place it on the Incomplete Effigy to begin planning the Rite of the Nameless.

Complete the Rite’s Ritual encounters, collect the Effigy Pieces, and add them to the effigy in Caer Tarth. Once the effigy is complete, activate it to reach The Bodach, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss.

Defeating the Ritual Pinnacle Boss is a prerequisite for Spreading Darkness and Invigorated Sacrifices. Reaching Caer Tarth alone does not unlock those passives.

Run your own maps for this reroll-focused strategy: party members receive a separate, limited reward selection that cannot be rerolled.

🌳 Ritual Passive Priorities

🛡️ Patient Devotion: Make Deferring Affordable

Allocate Patient Devotion first. It provides 50% reduced Tribute cost for deferring Favours and makes deferred rewards reappear sooner. This directly addresses the risk of seeing an expensive reward without enough Tribute to preserve it.

Do not treat cheaper deferral as permission to spend freely. Keep a reserve instead of using every available point of Tribute on minor purchases.

🎯 Traveller’s Woe and Spreading Darkness

Select Tainted under Traveller’s Woe, then add Spreading Darkness once its boss requirement is complete.

Traveller’s Woe increases the occurrence of the selected Ritual type. Spreading Darkness biases unique rewards toward particular equipment categories; for Tainted Rituals, those categories are Belts, Charms, and Flasks.

This supports a belt-focused strategy, but it does not specifically select Mageblood or establish a measurable Mageblood drop-rate increase.

⚖️ Invigorated Sacrifices: Balance Rewards Against Difficulty

Once unlocked, begin with Repetition under Invigorated Sacrifices. Its reduced Tribute penalty for revived monsters supports Tribute generation without choosing the more aggressive damage option.

The alternative that grants 10% increased number of Favours also gives Ritual Altar skills 50% increased damage. Consider it only when those encounters remain comfortable. More Favours means more reward options to inspect—not a proven 10% increase in Mageblood probability.

🪨 Choose Tablets by Function

Extra rerolls and Omen modifiers serve different purposes. One expands the number of reward screens you can inspect; the other supports income from a different reward category. Tribute generation and cost reduction help finance those choices.

Freedom of Faith allows twice as many rerolls but increases Favour Tribute costs by 10–15%. Add it when your Tribute supply can support the extra searches and more expensive rewards. Check the actual item’s remaining uses before buying.

Start with serviceable self-crafted tablets instead of waiting for perfect rolls.

Before opening the map, place your selected Ritual Tablets in the available tablet slots of your Map Device alongside the Waystone.

Using more than one Ritual Tablet can also add an extra altar where the map allows it.

🔨 Craft Ritual Tablets Without Erasing Good Rolls

Use this sequence on normal, uncorrupted Ritual Tablets:

1. Apply an Orb of Transmutation to make the tablet magic.
2. Apply an Orb of Augmentation when it has only one modifier.
3. Inspect and separate useful results. Search for “Omens” and “allow” to find the two main target modifiers quickly.
4. Use an Orb of Alchemy on unwanted magic results for another attempt at a useful rare tablet. Do not apply it to a tablet whose existing modifier you want to keep.

An Orb of Alchemy upgrades a normal or magic item to rare with four random modifiers, replacing any existing modifiers. A Regal Orb instead preserves the existing modifiers and adds one new modifier when upgrading a magic item to rare.

Keep tablets that hit either target modifier rather than waiting for both. Set a crafting budget before processing a large batch so you still have currency for any PoE 2 items your build needs.

🗺️ Match Map Density to Your Reroll Budget

Prioritize pack size to support Tribute generation. Save stronger reroll tablets for higher-density maps rather than maps that regularly leave you short of Tribute.

On the Atlas passive tree, select Swarm under Evolving Throngs for increased magic pack size in level 70+ areas. This node requires completing the Eastern or Western Gateway.

When preparing six-modifier Waystones, an Orb of Alchemy produces four modifiers, and two Exalted Orbs can add the remaining two. Read the completed modifiers before committing valuable tablets.

🔗 Plan the Rite of the Nameless Around Later Maps

Use the Head of the King in Caer Tarth to begin selecting a Rite of the Nameless chain. During planning, distinguish bonuses that improve subsequent maps from rewards attached to an individual map. Foretold Proliferation applies its specified modifier to other maps in the Rite after you complete the relevant map.

Prioritize additional rerolls or increased Favours early enough to benefit later encounters. Toward the end, an attractive specific reward can become more valuable than another bonus with little chain remaining.

Preview a few different eligible starting locations before committing to a chain. Reopening the same starting node shows the same selection, so check another location when the proposed chain offers weak bonuses or unsuitable encounters.

Do not choose solely by reward modifiers. Monsters and bosses carry forward through the sequence, increasing the challenge. Plan a chain your character can finish, not just one with an appealing final reward screen.

💎 Handle Rewards Without Losing Your Target

🔍 Inspect Before Spending

Complete the map’s Ritual encounters, then inspect the reward selection before buying low-priority items. Price-check unfamiliar Omens and roll-dependent uniques rather than judging value from the item name alone.

Buy worthwhile rewards when doing so leaves enough Tribute for your intended searches and deferrals. Otherwise, defer the rewards you genuinely intend to collect. Avoid filling your deferred pool with low-value items that repeatedly compete for Tribute.

🏆 When Mageblood Appears

Stop rerolling immediately. Check its purchase cost and Defer cost.

Buy it when affordable. Otherwise, select Defer and confirm that the action succeeds before refreshing the reward screen. When it returns, buy it or defer it again while continuing to pursue it. A successfully deferred reward does not necessarily appear on the very next refresh.

Read the current item warning and cost instead of assuming that a particular border colour guarantees safety.

An additional safeguard is Royal Lenience, which allows Tribute already offered to the King to fund deferrals. However, deferring through that reserve costs 500% more Offered Tribute. Treat it as an emergency option, not a substitute for Patient Devotion and careful spending.

✅ Keep the Farm Sustainable

Judge each farming session by rewards you actually sell, minus Waystone, tablet, and crafting costs. Do not count a Mageblood you have not obtained as income.

Increase investment only when you consistently finish encounters, use the extra rerolls, and retain enough Tribute to secure valuable finds. The goal is more affordable reward searches without sacrificing your ability to claim the result.
