Aion 2 just launched, and it's absolutely packed with systems the game never properly explains. The tutorial covers the basics, but there are a dozen mechanics that quietly determine whether you progress smoothly or waste weeks of resources. Here are 17 beginner tips the game doesn't tell you — but absolutely should.
1. Never Use Odyle Energy While Leveling
Odyle Energy unlocks around level 22 during your main story quest. It replenishes slowly and caps at 560 for free players or 840 for members.
The issue is simple: gear from level 20 is worthless by level 30. Every dungeon treasure chest you open consumes Odyle Energy — so skip the chest and finish the dungeon. Save that energy for max-level content where it actually matters.
2. Don't Touch Enhancement Stones Before Max Level
The game actively prompts you to upgrade gear from the moment you start. Ignore it.
Enhancement Stones are one of the scarcest resources in Aion 2. Spending them on leveling gear is one of the most common beginner mistakes. Wait until you have a piece of gear you'll actually keep — then invest everything into it.
3. Follow the Yellow Main Story Quests
Open your journal (J) and go to the leftmost tab: Episode Quest. Anything with a yellow marker is your fastest path to max level.
You'll hit roadblocks where you need to fill your Ascension Gauge to 100%. Do regional quests or clear question marks on your map — both contribute to the gauge and let you continue the main story.
4. Item Level and Combat Power Are Two Different Things
Your character card shows both. Item Level (Gear Score) comes from equipped gear and gates content access. Combat Power includes pets, Daevani, skills, titles, and wings — none of which raise your item level.
To unlock dungeons and raids, you need item level. That's why enhancement materials matter so much.
5. Continue the Main Story Beyond Max Level
Hitting max level doesn't end the main story — it just unlocks better rewards. Episode quests at max level hand out gear that significantly boosts your item level. Keep pushing through them.
6. Noble Belt and Revelation Amulet Are Long-Term Pieces
These two accessories are not disposable leveling gear. They upgrade continuously throughout the game.
The Noble Belt uses Stronghold reward materials. The Revelation Amulet upgrades through the Monolith and Imperion Trace system. Get both to level 10, then morph them via Substance Morph into stronger versions. Skipping this leaves massive stats on the table.
7. Stack Quests Whenever Possible
While traveling to your next Episode Quest, detour to any nearby Sealed Dungeon or Stronghold (the question marks on your map). Since you're auto-pathing anyway, the detour costs almost nothing.
Everything scales to your level, so these are always worth doing. They feed your Ascension Gauge and provide materials for your belt.
8. Collect Every Imperion Trace You See
Imperion Traces are feather-shaped collectibles scattered across the map. Zoom in on your minimap to spot them.
Turn them in at the Monolith for gear rewards. There are hundreds of them, and they're one of the easiest passive upgrades in the game.
9. Grab Regional Quest Gear Immediately
Some Regional Quests reward accessories and gear pieces directly. If the item is an upgrade, go get it right now. Any combat power boost during leveling means faster kill times and smoother progression.
10. Add Skill Specialties — Most Players Miss This
Specialty slots are unlocked upon reaching skill levels 8, 12, and 16. Select the skill and assign a specialty to that slot.
This is one of the most commonly overlooked systems in the game. If a skill is one level away from unlocking its next specialty, push it in Daevanion. The stat gain is substantial.
11. Use the Built-In Macro System
The game has a macro system that supports up to 20 skills. Find it under Settings → Key Settings → General.
Bind it to a key, hold it down, and your character cycles through every skill automatically. You can even set multi-skill chains in the skill menu. It looks like you're playing at 400 APM — you're holding one button.
12. Fix Your Graphics Settings
Keep resolution identical to your monitor — never scale it. Raise your refresh rate as high as your monitor allows.
Resolution Scale ranges from High Performance to Native. If you're dropping frames, move it toward High Performance. Use Task Manager to check whether your CPU or GPU is the bottleneck, both idle and in combat. In PvP, frame drops decide fights.
13. Never Skip the Shugo Festival
When the Shugo Festival appears in the top-right corner, drop what you're doing and participate. You earn Sundered Root Tokens for the festival shop.
Spend them on wings, pets, artwork, skins, extra Daevanion, and Radiant Odyle. Festival keys are limited — don't let them cap out or you're throwing away rewards.
14. Don't Waste Mana Stones
Mana Stones socket into gear for extra stats, but they're valuable. Never socket them into gear you're going to replace.
Save them for equipment you'll actually keep long-term. Low-level gear gets swapped out within hours.
15. Extract Gear Before Selling It
Any new gear you obtain — even outdated pieces — should be extracted, not sold. Use the extraction potion at the bottom-right of your inventory.
Extraction costs a small amount of currency but rewards Enhancement Stones and permanently saves the appearance to your Closet. You can then apply that skin to any future gear.
16. Use Storage to Move Aion 2 Kina Between Characters
There are two storage types: Character Storage and Server Storage.
Server Storage is shared across all characters on your account. You can transfer Aion 2 Kina, Enhancement Runes, and most materials through it. This is how you funnel resources from alts to your main. Expand storage capacity with the button in the bottom-right corner.
17. Make an Alt — It's Free Odyle Energy
This is the single highest-value long-term tip. Get an alt to level 22, and it unlocks its own Odyle Energy pool that regenerates independently.
Let it accumulate while you play your main, then log back in to spend it. Push the alt to level 45, and you unlock tradable Kinah farming plus character-specific daily dungeons — roughly 14 entries per week, each rewarding Enhancement materials you can transfer to your main via Server Storage.
The Bottom Line
Aion 2 rewards patience over impulse. Save your Odyle Energy, hoard your Enhancement Stones, extract instead of selling, and build at least one alt early. The game won't tell you any of this — but now you know.
