With the current Twilight Ascension event in WoW Midnight Pre-patch, collecting full raid set appearances has become significantly easier. Using this solo-friendly strategy, shared by Gladius on his YouTube channel, you can unlock LFR, Normal, and Heroic appearances and craft a 144-item-level weapon along the way. Let's break it down step by step.

WoW Midnight: Solo Heroic Raid Transmog & 144+ ilvl Weapon Guide

Step 1: Collect Base Set Pieces through the Twilight Ascension Event

The Twilight Ascension event made acquiring base set gear (Chains of the Living Weapon) much more accessible:

  • Rare enemies now drop three insignias
  • Rare spawn rates are doubled
  • Gear costs half as many insignias
  • World quests are repeatable on all characters
  • Follow-up quests still reward 10 insignias
  • Weekly quests can be completed on multiple characters
  • Warbound gear drops twice as often and is more likely to match your armor type

To purchase a full set (including the cloak), you will need 180 badges. This total does not include any additional warbound gear that may drop for your armor proficiency.

In most cases, one full round of world quests, weekly quests, and a handful of rare kills will get you there. Alternatively, you can split the grind across multiple characters since these items are transferable. Once you've purchased all armor slots (helm, shoulders, chest, leggings, boots, back, bracers, belt, hands), head to Dornogal.

Step 2: Convert Items at the Catalyst (Normal + LFR Appearances)

In Dornogal, you can use the Catalyst to convert eligible gear into raid set pieces. If you've never used it before:

  • You start with 8 charges
  • Charges accumulate weekly
  • Charges are character-specific

There are nine total set pieces, but you should convert everything except the cloak. The cloak appearance can be obtained another way if we do LFR. After conversion, you'll have access to LFR and Normal appearances. Next, we farm crests for Heroic.

Step 3: Solo Crest Farming for Heroic Appearance

To unlock the Heroic appearance, you must upgrade all set pieces to 8/8 Champion level. You will need both Runed Ethereal Crests and Carved Ethereal Crests. Once one character (Warband) equips a 144 item level piece in a slot, upgrades on future characters become cheaper (10 crests instead of 15 per upgrade).

Best Solo Farm: Tier 11 Delves

Tier 11 delves reward 10 Runed Crests and 10 Carved Crests. One of the fastest options is Tak-Rethan Abyss. The fastest story variants are the Pheromone variant and the Goblin variant.

Strategies:

  • Stealth classes can skip most enemies
  • Tanks can pull large groups, stun near objectives, and sprint forward
  • Use checkpoints strategically
  • Respawn trick allows boss-only farming
  • Fully upgraded Brand helps speed up clears

Each run takes roughly 5–10 minutes. Once you've farmed enough crests, head to the upgrade vendor and upgrade all set pieces to 8/8 Champion. When all pieces are upgraded and converted, you unlock LFR, Normal, and Heroic appearances.

Note: Reshii Wraps do not count toward set completion.

Step 4: Unlocking Reshii Wraps (If Needed)

If your character has never done the K'aresh campaign, go to Alleria in Dornogal. Skip the campaign if available. Otherwise, complete the quest called "A Shadowy Invitation." Follow the questline until the portal unlocks, then speak to Hashim and select: "I need new Reshii Wraps." If completed on another character, you can immediately upgrade them.

If you'd rather skip the campaign grind entirely, MmoGah also offers an 11.2 Main Storyline + Unlock Artifact Cloak: Reshii Wraps power leveling package, helping you unlock everything quickly and jump straight into gearing and transmog farming.

Step 5: Story Mode Raid for Enchanted Crest

Before queuing for LFR, grab the quest from Alleria outside the raid entrance to defeat Dimensius. You can enter Story Mode solo or talk to Phase-General Ameer to be placed directly at the boss. Defeating Dimensius rewards Enchanted Runed Ethereal Crest. After killing him, do not leave immediately. Wait for dialogue and exit via Zuldazar's portal, or you must repeat the fight. The fight is very quick due to scaling.

Step 6: Craft a 144 Item Level Weapon

Now we use the Enchanted Crest. Go to the Crafting Order Station in Dornogal and speak to Clerk Gretal. To craft a 144-item weapon (example: Everforged Mace), you need Spark of Starlight (crafted from 2 spark fragments + 250 Valorstones), Enchanted Runed Ethereal Crest, and other required materials. Spark fragments drop from Delves, Mythic+, LFR, and Weekly activities. You can quickly farm fragments via Tier 1 delves like Fungal Folly.

Set the order to Personal Order and increase to Craft Level 5. Public orders may result in lower-quality crafts. Always use trade chat to find a skilled crafter. Also, add-ons like Auctionator make material purchasing much easier. When completed properly, you'll receive a 144-item level weapon.

With full LFR / Normal / Heroic appearances, a 144 crafted weapon, efficient crest farming unlocked, and campaign skips completed, you'll be well prepared heading into Midnight.
