Looking for an alternative way to farm Flame Elementium in Torchlight Infinite SS13 Afterlight? The Oasis Tycoon system provides a steady income source through Airship Trading and Glider Raiding, even if you do not own an expensive Drop Pactspirit.

However, the Oasis system is not a simple passive income method. Your upgrade timing and Airship setup determine how much profit you can actually make. Upgrading every department immediately can waste Gold and resources. A better strategy is to focus on early Airship Trading, generate cheap order refreshes, and invest in Glider Raiding only after your Oasis reaches a higher level.

This guide provides a practical progression route from Day 1 to Timemark 8.

Torchlight Infinite SS13 Oasis Guide: Best Tycoon Strategy to Farm Flame Elementium

How the Oasis Tycoon System Works

The Oasis mainly includes two activities:

  • Airship Trading: Deliver resources to islands for belts, currency, and other rewards.
  • Glider Raiding: Raid locations such as the Sand Pirate Stash for Probes, Flame Elementium, scent materials, and other items.

Airship Trading is generally better during early progression because it is cheaper to operate. Glider Raiding becomes more rewarding after your Oasis Core and Port reach higher levels.

To enter the Oasis, find Jessomina in town.

Inside the Oasis, the main departments are:

  • Mining Department: Produces Ore Ingots and Magic Crystals.
  • Logistics Department: Produces food and other trading supplies.
  • HR Manager: Manages your workers.
  • Port: Controls Airships, islands, and Glider raids.
  • Oasis Core: Determines the maximum level of every department.

The most important upgrade rule is:

A department's level cannot exceed the Oasis Core level.

Higher Mining and Logistics levels produce more materials, while higher Port levels unlock additional Airships and better activities.

Manage Your Workers Carefully

The Oasis can hold up to around 200 workers. Once the limit is reached, newly obtained workers may not be added unless dismissal settings are enabled.

Remove low-level workers regularly so stronger workers can replace them.

You do not need powerful workers on every Airship. Save your best workers for the main trading ship and production departments. Low-level workers can be used on ships that only generate order refreshes.

Best Day 1 Oasis Strategy

On the first day, keep your Port at Level 2 instead of upgrading it immediately.

Use Airship Trading to target an island that can reward high-level belts. Since the exact island name may differ by localization, check the reward preview and prioritize belts with valuable modifiers:

  • + Skill Level
  • + Attack Skill Level
  • Strong defensive modifiers
  • Build-enabling special affixes

A valuable early belt can provide your first meaningful amount of Flame Elementium while players are still building their characters.

Your goal on Day 1 is not maximum production. It is getting a valuable early-season belt before prices drop as more players enter the market.

During this stage:

  1. Keep the Port at Level 2.
  2. Upgrade Mining and Logistics normally.
  3. Produce enough materials to maintain trading.
  4. Target islands with useful belt rewards.
  5. Avoid spending heavily on Glider upgrades.

Early Glider rewards are usually too weak to justify the extra Gold and resources.

Best Level 6 Airship Setup

Once you reach Timemark 7–8 progression and have a stable resource supply, upgrade:

  • Oasis Core to Level 6
  • Port to Level 6

A Level 6 Port unlocks four Airships.

The recommended setup is:

Airship

Purpose

Workers

Airship 1

Main high-value trade

Best available workers

Airship 2

Generate order refreshes

One Level 1–2 worker

Airship 3

Generate order refreshes

One Level 1–2 worker

Airship 4

Generate order refreshes

One Level 1–2 worker

Only one Airship needs to focus on valuable rewards.

In this strategy, each refresh ship is usually set to transport around 120 materials per dispatch to efficiently generate refresh progress. This allows it to contribute to refresh progress without using your best workers.

How to Use Order Refreshes

Do not complete every trade order immediately.

Use your secondary Airships to generate refreshes, then refresh your target island until you receive an order that matches the resources you have stored.

The recommended process is:

  1. Select one target trade island.
  2. Raise its reputation and island level.
  3. Generate refreshes with three secondary ships.
  4. Look for an order you can fully supply.
  5. Load as many requested materials as possible.
  6. Complete one large trade with your main Airship.

One fully supplied order is usually more efficient than several small trades.

Do not spend all your materials while the island is still at a low level. Improve its reputation first so that better rewards can enter the reward pool.

Focus Your Resource Production

When preparing for a large order, you do not need to produce every resource equally.

You can temporarily set the Mining Department to focus on either Ore Ingots or Magic Crystals, depending on the materials required by your target island.

The Logistics Department can usually continue producing its regular supplies unless you need a specific resource for the next order.

The goal is to accumulate enough of one material to fully supply a valuable trade rather than holding small amounts of everything.

When to Upgrade the Glider

Avoid investing heavily in the Glider before your Oasis Core reaches Level 7.

Low-level raids provide some rewards, but the return is often too small compared with their Gold and operating costs.

Glider Raiding becomes more useful after:

  • Oasis Core Level 7 or higher
  • Higher Timemark progression
  • Better raid locations become available
  • You have enough Gold to support frequent refreshes

At that point, Glider raids can reward:

  • Flame Elementium
  • Deep Space Probes
  • Higher-level Probes
  • Scent materials
  • Other tradeable items

The Sand Pirate Stash is one of the main Glider farming locations for this stage.

Gold Management Before and After Timemark 8

Before Timemark 8, only spend enough Gold to maintain production and Airship Trading.

You can manage the Oasis in short sessions:

  • Collect materials.
  • Dispatch the refresh ships.
  • Find a valuable order.
  • Complete the main trade.
  • Return to mapping or other farming activities.

After reaching Timemark 8, the Oasis can become a more permanent farming system. However, you need much more Gold to support:

  • Frequent Glider refreshes
  • Airship dispatches
  • Department production
  • Oasis Core operation

Do not switch to constant Glider farming until your character can reliably generate enough Gold to maintain the system.

Talents, Compass, and Pactspirits

This strategy does not require an expensive Pactspirit.

For early progression:

  • Prioritize talents that improve Oasis-related rewards or encounter chances.
  • Use an Oasis-related Compass when farming the system.
  • Even a low-level Pactspirit is enough to start this strategy.
  • Treat stronger Pactspirits as an extra bonus rather than a requirement.

Your Airship setup, order management, and upgrade timing are more important than owning a premium pet.

Common Oasis Mistakes

Avoid these common problems:

  • Upgrading the Glider too early
  • Using strong workers on refresh ships
  • Reaching the worker limit without dismissing weak workers
  • Completing every small order immediately
  • Spending all resources before raising island reputation
  • Producing too many different materials at once
  • Starting permanent Glider farming without enough Gold

Farming vs Buying Flame Elementium

Players who want to spend less time farming currency can combine Oasis farming with other income sources or purchase Flame Elementium to speed up gearing and focus more on SS13 progression.

Final Tips

The Oasis Tycoon system is partly affected by island orders, belt rolls, and refresh luck, so the first-day profit will vary.

However, it remains a useful alternative to highly competitive strategies such as Blacksail, especially for players without premium Drop Pactspirits.

Remember the core strategy:

  • Keep the Port at Level 2 on Day 1.
  • Upgrade the Oasis Core and Port to Level 6 later.
  • Use one main Airship and three cheap refresh ships.
  • Wait until Core Level 7 before investing heavily in Gliders.

With the right upgrade timing, Oasis Trading and Glider Raiding can provide a steady source of Flame Elementium, Probes, and other valuable SS13 materials.
