TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 4 brings more than Zul'Aman. With Primal Nether and Nether Vortex becoming tradeable, new Badge of Justice rewards, and additional crafting recipes, players have several new ways to make gold. The best opportunities aren't necessarily found by killing more mobs. Some come from farming previously restricted materials or selling items that raiders need for their next upgrades.

This guide covers where to farm gold in TBC Anniversary Phase 4, what to sell, and which methods are worth your time. We'll start with the new Phase 4 opportunities, then move to reliable Outland farming routes.

tbc phase 4 gold farming-1

1. Farm Nether Vortex Through Raids and Badges

Best for: Level 70 raiders and players with spare Badges of Justice.

Nether Vortex is one of the materials worth watching in Phase 4. Previously soulbound, it becomes tradeable with the new update, allowing players to sell it instead of using it exclusively for crafting.

There are two main ways to obtain it:

Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep: Join raid groups farming bosses that can drop Nether Vortex. These raids are already available on Anniversary servers.

G'eras in Shattrath City: Nether Vortex becomes available for purchase with Badges of Justice in Phase 4.

The important change is that badges become easier to obtain. Bosses in Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, and Zul'Aman can now award them.

Best farming strategy:

Join raid groups that can clear bosses efficiently, especially if you're already running them for gear. Collect badges along the way and check the Nether Vortex price before spending them at G'eras.

If you still need badge equipment, prioritize upgrades that improve your character. Otherwise, selling Nether Vortex can turn spare badges into gold.

Since more players can now obtain and trade this material, avoid stockpiling large quantities without checking actual demand.

2. Farm Primal Nether in Heroic Dungeons

Best for: Players comfortable with five-player dungeon farming.

Primal Nether also becomes tradeable in Phase 4. Unlike Nether Vortex, it was already available from the Badge of Justice vendor during Phase 3, but players couldn't sell it directly. Players who haven't reached Level 70 can use a WoW TBC Anniversary boosting to level up faster and unlock Heroic dungeon farming.

You can obtain Primal Nether from the final bosses of Heroic Outland dungeons or exchange 10 Badges of Justice with G'eras in Shattrath.

Two useful farming options are:

The Slave Pens – Zangarmarsh

Enter the Coilfang Reservoir dungeon on Heroic difficulty. Work through the instance with a reliable group and defeat Quagmirran, the final boss, for a chance at Primal Nether. Collect badges and other valuable loot along the way.

The Mechanar – Netherstorm

Located at Tempest Keep, the Mechanar is another practical option for geared players with flying mounts. Clear the dungeon and defeat Pathaleon the Calculator for a chance at Primal Nether.

Phase 4 reduces Heroic dungeon difficulty and lowers the reputation requirement for Heroic keys to Honored, making these runs more accessible.

Remember that Heroic dungeons have daily lockouts, and Primal Nether drops are subject to your group's loot rules. Plan your runs around available groups rather than expecting guaranteed personal drops.

3. Sell Materials for the New Greater Drums

Best for: Leatherworkers and players farming leather.

Phase 4 introduces Greater Drums recipes through Outland faction vendors, creating another opportunity for Leatherworkers.

One example is Greater Drums of Battle. Players with Leatherworking 365 and Honored reputation with the Sha'tar can purchase the pattern from Almaador in Shattrath City.

Materials required for one Greater Drums of Battle:

6 Heavy Knothide Leather

4 Thick Clefthoof Leather

Since each Heavy Knothide Leather requires five Knothide Leather, you'll need 30 Knothide Leather and four Thick Clefthoof Leather per craft.

Here's a practical farming route:

Travel to Nagrand and start around the grasslands northwest of Garadar.

Hunt Clefthoof Bulls and skin them for Thick Clefthoof Leather and Knothide Leather.

Move between nearby Clefthoof groups instead of waiting for individual respawns.

If you need more Knothide Leather, skin nearby Talbuk Thorngrazers around Garadar.

Convert Knothide Leather into Heavy Knothide Leather, then craft the drums or sell the materials separately.

Players without Leatherworking can still profit by supplying the leather needed for these recipes.

Before crafting, compare the total material cost with the selling price of Greater Drums of Battle. Selling raw leather may be more profitable if finished drums are heavily undercut.

4. Target Epic Gem Demand After the Phase 4 Changes

Best for: Jewelcrafters and players with access to Magtheridon's Lair.

Phase 4 expands the ways players can obtain epic gems. Magtheridon's Black Sack of Gems and Jewelcrafter's Brilliant Glass can now contain epic-quality gems.

For Jewelcrafters, Brilliant Glass offers a crafting opportunity, but the material cost matters.

To craft one Brilliant Glass, you need:

3 Azure Moonstones

3 Blood Garnets

3 Deep Peridots

3 Flame Spessarites

3 Golden Draenites

3 Shadow Draenites

That's 18 uncommon gems in total. The craft also has a 20-hour cooldown.

How to calculate whether it's worth crafting:

Suppose the 18 required gems cost 36 gold altogether. If the Brilliant Glass produces a rare gem worth 25 gold, you've lost 11 gold before Auction House fees.

However, Phase 4 adds a chance to obtain an epic gem, which could make some crafts more valuable. Epic gems aren't guaranteed, so don't treat every craft as an automatic profit.

Before using your cooldown, compare the total material cost with the prices of possible gem rewards. If you obtain a valuable gem, check its uncut price against popular cuts before selling.

Players who regularly clear Magtheridon's Lair should also pay attention to the updated Black Sack of Gems rewards.

Remember that Brilliant Glasses and unopened Black Sacks of Gems obtained before the update don't gain the new epic gem rewards.

5. World Boss BoE Loot: A New High-Value Opportunity

Best for: Organized guilds and experienced raid groups.

Another Phase 4 change affects Doomlord Kazzak and Doomwalker. Their equipment drops become Bind on Equip instead of Bind on Pickup, creating new opportunities to sell valuable world-boss loot.

You can find:

Doomlord Kazzak: Throne of Kil'jaeden, Hellfire Peninsula.

Doomwalker: Near the Black Temple entrance in Shadowmoon Valley.

These aren't solo farming targets. Both bosses require coordinated groups, and their respawn schedules, competition, and loot distribution make them very different from ordinary gold farms.

If your guild regularly kills these bosses, discuss loot ownership and selling rules before pulling.

For tradeable equipment, check the Auction House for comparable items and consider the demand from players upgrading their gear.

World-boss farming is a high-value opportunity for organized groups, not a reliable daily gold-making method for solo players. Don't build your entire farming routine around unpredictable boss availability.

6. What to Farm and Sell for Zul'Aman Raiders

Best for: Herbalists, Alchemists, Miners, and players who prefer gathering.

Zul'Aman opens in the Ghostlands as a 10-player raid with no attunement requirement. Its three-day lockout gives players regular opportunities to obtain new gear, potentially supporting demand for consumables, gems, and crafting materials. Players may also need more TBC gold to cover these expenses.

Although these materials aren't new to Phase 4, they're worth watching as more players start raiding.

Material Where to Farm What to Watch
Mana Thistle Skettis, Terokkar Forest Flask crafting demand
Nightmare Vine Shadowmoon Valley Alchemy consumables
Netherbloom Netherstorm Potion and flask materials
Adamantite Ore Nagrand and Terokkar Forest Prospecting and gem crafting

Mana Thistle – Skettis, Terokkar Forest

Start around the Skettis area and fly between available Mana Thistle spawn locations. Check the nearby elevated terrain and avoid waiting at a single node.

If competition is heavy, move to another gathering area rather than repeatedly circling an empty location.

Nightmare Vine – Shadowmoon Valley

Follow a gathering circuit around the zone's accessible terrain, checking known herb locations as you travel. Nightmare Vine is used in Alchemy, making it worth comparing with other herbs before choosing a route.

Netherbloom – Netherstorm

Fly between the floating islands and accessible landmasses, collecting Netherbloom nodes along your route. This is a useful alternative when Mana Thistle locations become crowded.

Adamantite Ore – Nagrand

Follow the mountain edges and rocky terrain of Nagrand to search for Adamantite deposits. Miners can collect ore while checking nearby routes for additional nodes.

Before selling, compare the price of raw Adamantite Ore with the potential value of gems obtained through Prospecting.

Selling tip: Check material prices around your server's active raid times. Zul'Aman progression may increase demand for consumables and gems, but actual prices depend on your realm's supply and competition.

Final Thoughts

TBC Anniversary Phase 4 brings fresh gold-making opportunities, but the best strategy is to adapt to your server's economy. Focus on what sells consistently, avoid overcrowded farms, and make every farming session count.
