OSRS Construction: Mahogany Homes Guide

By Michel Z2020-09-02

Welcome to Woxie Rs’s Mahogany Homes guide for Old School RuneScape. Mahogany Homes is a new minigame that is a cheap and still fast way to train your Construction skill. You’ll complete Construction contracts to earn points and xp, then spend the points on the new Plank sack, Saw, Blueprints, and Carpenters Outfit.

Requirement

Your own house (costs 1k gp from Estate Agent)

First and foremost, you need to own a house that can be bought from any Estate Agent for 1k OSRS gold.

Types of Contract

Beginner – level 1

Novice – level 20

Adept – level 50

  Expert – level 70+

You can start at level 1, and it ranges between 1 to level 70, based on the different types of contract you take. To start this minigame, you need to go to the designated Mahogany Home office locations.

South of Falador Park

Northeast of Hosidius (Xeric’s talisman – Glade teleport)

East Ardougne

North Varrock

There are four different locations: one is in the south of Falador Park. The second one is in the northeast of Hosidius, and the easiest way to get here is to use Xeric’s talisman and Glade teleport, then run north. The third one is in East Ardougne, and you can teleport to East Ardougne and run west. The last one is in Varrock, just north of the square.

There are different levels of contracts you can do, ranging from Beginner to Expert:

Points and XP per contract

Beginner – 1 point (500 xp)

Novice – 2 points (1.25k xp)

Adept – 3 points (2.25k xp)

Expert – 4 points (2.75k xp)

Gear & Inventory

Recommended Inventory

Hammer

Saw

Steel bars

Planks (dependent on contract level: Normal/Oak/Teak/Mahogany)

Varrock, Falador, Ardougne, Hosidius teleport

Teleport to Bank

Xeric’s talisman (Glade)

Full graceful

The type of Planks you need is dependent on your contract level. A teleport to the bank will be useful for you to get more supplies. For gear, you’ll need to wear some weight-reducing armor such as full Graceful so that you can run more and not use Staminas.

The Method

Once you have all the required items, visit one of the Mahogany Homes offices and talk to the NPC and start your contract. For example, in Falador, Amy will ask you what level contract you want, and you’ll want to do the one that's highest for you. Since I’m level 85 Construction, I’m going to choose the Expert contract, which requires level 70 Construction. After accepting the contract, Amy will tell you the client’s name and their house location.

Next, you're going to the client’s house. Once you are inside the house, you can see that there are outlines around different furniture. You can talk to your client, and they'll tell you what to build. Some objects around the house that are broken and need repairing don't have the red squares around them. So, if you miss something out, talk back to your client, and they'll let you know what needs fixing. Things like baths, sinks, and cooking ranges require Steel Bars, which is why you bring some with you. Other than that, everything else uses Planks.

After completing the job, talk back to the client, and you'll get your xp drop and a cup of tea. Click “Yes”, you'll instantly get back all of your Run Energy. Then you can teleport back to any Mahogany Homes office. I'd recommend teleporting to Falador, as it is the quickest, and a lot of tasks in Falador are relatively close to the Mahogany Homes office. I can get approximately 180k xp/h with Expert contracts and an average of 1.5 minutes per contract run.

Rewards

Let's get down to the rewards. You can get different rewards based on how many points you have:

▪ Supply Crate (Oak Planks, Teak Planks, Mahogany Planks, Bolt of cloth, Limestone bricks, Steel bars, Soft clay) – 25 points

▪ Amy's saw (an equipable saw) – 500 points

▪ Plank sack (holds 28 Planks) – 350 points

▪ Hosidius blueprints (changes your house look to a Hosidius-themed house style) – 2,000 points

Carpenter's Outfit (Carpenter's helmet – 400 points, Carpenter's shirt – 800 points, Carpenter's trousers – 600 points, Carpenter's boots – 200 points)

The most important reward is the Carpenter's Outfit that currently costs 2,000 points and gives a +2.5% xp Construction boost if you wear the whole set.
