    How RuneScape got started

RuneScape has its origins in an early graphical MUD that was written by Jagex’s founder, Andrew Gower, with his brother Paul. The first publish of RS was in 2001 as a free game and players increased soon. As the game's popularity grew, the game engine was rewritten, and it was opened to players on Dec.1.2003 under the name of RuneScape2, and officially released on Mar.29.2004. The third iteration of the game, known as RuneScape3, was released on Jul.22.2013.

    How to play RuneScape

RuneScape takes place in the world known as Gielinor, a medieval fantasy realm that has many different kingdoms, regions, and cities. In RuneScape, you have to create a 3D avatar and then use various methods in order to travel to the different parts in the game. You can use methods like magic, melee, ranged. You will find that the interesting part of this game is capturing the monsters and fighting the monsters, and you have free reign to do anything you want to do. If you want to get more experience points in RuneScape, what you need to do is to go on adventures and quests.

    Why players enjoy RuneScape

RuneScape has tons and tons of customization when it comes to how your character will look. RuneScape has both combat and a metric ton of skills, minigames, quests, and events. Besides the graphics, RS is actually one of the best browser-based MMORPGs around. It has three combat styles (melee, magic, and ranged), 26 skills, 203 quests, and over 30 minigames and activities. RuneScape has a strong friend system and vivid expression system. That's the reason why there are so many players who have been keen on RuneScape for more than ten years.

In 2001 RuneScape was purely free to play. Then in 2002 a paid membership option was launched. The Squeal of Fortune (SoF) was released in 2012. This event is a landmark in RuneScape as it marks the first-ever time there was a way to convert real life money into in-game items, experience, and runescape gold (although the reward is distributed randomly).

Some possible updates in the future

A new skill called invention, a new Aquarium (fishing) room for player who has house and a new god wars slayer dungeon. The most requested update is the Bank Rework. While Bank Rework doesn't have the visual clout of an Elder God,  it's what player want more than anything else.

In a whole word, RS always meets the requirements of players and keeps pace with the times! Those are MmoGah’s views on why RuneScape is still so hot.
