They Should Get A Stat Boost for NBA 2K18 Part 1

By Michel Z2017-07-10

Players get a stat boost in NBA 2K according to their performances during last season. 2016-2017 season was one of extremes - exquisite performances by Westbrook, Harden, LeBron and Durant overshadowing all the rest. But there are also many other players who impressed us much and deserve a stat boost in the upcoming NBA 2K18. Who emerged stronger from this season? Let’s re-evaluate now. I hope these players not only give you an edge over your opponents in 2K18, but also fit your personal style of play.

10. Jimmy Butler - Minnesota Timberwolves

It remains to be seen whether Jimmy Butler’s move to Minnesota will bring a significant progress to the Wolves. But things won’t be sweet to the Bulls for losing Butler. For the Bulls, it was a mixed season, they almost failed to make the playoffs before racing into a 2-0 lead against the Boston Celtics. After losing 4 straight games in the process, they were subsequently eliminated, but if it were not for Butler, they wouldn't have even reached that stage.

Butler didn't have the most spectacular of seasons, but still proved himself a star player. He had a career year in terms of average points, rebounds, assists and steals, and was voted into the All-NBA Third Team. Although not as spectacular as the Most Improved award he got in 2014/15, he's still had an impressive year, and will be greatly missed in Chicago.

9. Anthony Davis - New Orleans Pelicans

Though Anthony Davis is still only 24 years old, this freakishly talented big man is universally accepted as one of the future faces of the league, and we will find him improving year-on-year for the next few seasons, perhaps the talisman needed to transform New Orleans' NBA fortunes. It was another impressive season for Davis. He wasn't able to lead the Pelicans to a playoff berth, but was voted into the All-NBA First Team for the second time in his career (as well as the All-Defensive Second Team, a testament to his intimidating presence in the paint). His rating is already 90 in NBA 2K17 now, but he deserved the number boosting further in the NBA 2K18.

8. Joel Embiid - Philadelphia 76ers

This injury-prone giant was a mighty risk when he was drafted three years ago, and missed the entirety of his first two seasons. This year again, he was injured, but not before he was able to show what he can do. He contributed an average of 20 points a game in just 25 minutes of average game time. He was only given a 77 rating under the previous instalment of the franchise, it must have been hard to grade him for the inactive early years of his career, but now 2K have had a taste of the scary potential of The Process.

7. Nikola Jokic - Denver Nuggets

He scored more points, grabbed more rebounds, and dished more assists per game than last year. He became one of the Nuggets' key players in the process, he simply upped his rate of play. He should certainly see an increase in his 79 2K rating this year.
